iBooks has posted its three-page preview for IDW Publishing’s Bumblebee Movie Prequel #1, scheduled for release this July. Occurring around twenty years prior to the events of the Bumblebee movie, this four issue miniseries already takes on a heavy James Bond vibe as David Reeve, agent of P.R.O.G.R.A.M.M.E., goes after criminal organization E.I.D.O.L.O.N. in 1964… albeit it with a little Autobot help! Additionally, this prequel brings back together Robots in Disguise writer John Barber and artist Andrew Griffith, who first worked together on Dark of the Moon prequel Foundation. Check out the preview for yourself after the jump!
SPLIT LIP
Yes.

It's a genericised Aston Martin DB5, famous for being a Bond car.
RobotKnight95
What car is that on the cover? Cus I want an MP of that
fishpop
Well someone\'s trying to be James Bond.
He seems to be a blend of Lazenby & Connery.
That PROGRAMME acronym is actually a cohesive sentence unlike most forced acronyms.
Premptive resistance, operating globally, reacting against malevolant military efforts.

Eh, I don't believe ANYONE has legitimately said "we're doing a reboot." The reboot theory is something we've been brainstorming ourselves.
I wouldn't blame them if the Bumblebee movie was a stealth reboot but right now, this seems like a "broad strokes" sort of thing. Like if you seen TLK, you'd know Bee was in WWII, but with something like this official prequel comic, they'll probably make the implication that Bee was in WWII for those who didn't see TLK.
Speaking of which, this comic is already looking dope.
TCJJ
Pretty sure it's a straight-up reboot now. I believe this has been confirmed. Otherwise, they'd be retconning a lot of stuff.
Deadend
It's a prequel. Set 20 years before the first movie that took place in 2007. This prequel comic picks up on the story threads of where Bumblebee went after WWII. Skipping ahead 20 years from that, set 20 years before the Bumblebee movie, which is 20 years before the first movie. Not that complicated.
Means above top brass. As in does not exist. Same as how the team formation was redacted. That kind of top clearance/does not exist type protocol. So if he fails his mission they can say they know nothing of him at nearly all levels, because they don't. It's also more towards spy movie stuff though, and may not actually be a real thing. Could be, no clue. But it sounds more like a 60s spy movie kind of thing as intended. Google didn't really pop anything up on it.

still cant figure out the realation between bbb movie and other 5 movies before, is bbb movie a reboot or a prequel to the first movie? well i think even Paramount or Hasbro cant figure this out……

What is Minus Clearance in the intelligence world? More than full clearance or no clearance at all?
Dinoprime09
Ha liking the look of this already should be a nice change of pace with all the tension in the other IDW comics leading up to their Finales (which is actually pretty cool too don\'t get my wrong, it just pays to have a little variety)
Nemesis Otaku
Nifty. When thinking about it, I would've preferred the prequel to give us a look on why BB arrived, but I'm sure that will be in the film.
