Via an update on Maketoys Facebook we have the prototype images of their Booster, Endgame and Jetstream prototypes (Masterpiece Scaled G1 Dirge, Ramjet and Thrust).
Maketoys had already revealed their prototype of their conehead Booster, a Masterpiece scaled Dirge. Now we have images of the respective remolds of Endgame (G1 Dirge) and Jeststream (G1 Ramjet). These figures will sure look great next to Maketoys Meteor (G1 Starscream) and his respective variants. All these Coneheads look very cartoon-accurate with a solid jet mode. A very great job on the remolded parts. Still no price or release date yet, but be sure to come back to TFW2005 for more information when it’s available.
You can check out the mirrored images after the jump and then sound off on the 2005 Boards!

Totally. The MP-52 seekers look great. I will say I appreciate the MT seekers cuz they made the leap from the MP-11 mold to something much better looking for us ‘toon lovers and our shelves. And I want to like their coneheads. Even to the point that I considered going full custom repaint. I bought a broke Dirge to do a test but after handling it in bot mode, I just can’t go there. I had MP-11s and was tempted by the MTs but luckily I was patient and when the DS seekers came out I pounced. They’re my forever seekers.

When MT Starscream was announced, followed by SW and TC, I really debated offloading my Takara MP-11 versions and going all in on the MakeToys versions. The only thing that stopped me was that I didn’t like the head sculpts.
I am certainly glad I didn’t and instead got the new Takara MP-52 versions. They’re not perfect either but apart from the transformation being more complex than I like these days, they smash the MT versions. If my experience is similar to the majority that is.

Yeah, when you handle them, they feel weighty and strong, die cast and everything. But smaller pieces are brittle and are tough to navigate without breaking something. Feels like the plastic used has gotten weaker over the years, on every one of them there's a break where it doesn't change how they look, but it ends up being a "partsformer" due to the breakage.
I'd like to see how the MT versions stand up to these. But can't find the Zeta ones anywhere.
Curium
I'm surprised to hear that, I wonder if Zeta used cheaper plastic than ToyWorld did. I have the TW release of the same figures and they definitely don't feel brittle. Of course it is possible we define "feel brittle" differently, but I don't think that is the case here.

I have the Zeta Coneheads. They're pretty good but the transformation can be kind of frustrating because they're amazingly brittle. I've thought about moving on from them but I'd enjoy a MP styled Conehead that looks good and doesn't require kid gloves to change. Was looking at these and they don't seem as good as what's already out there (Takara/Zeta), but that's JMO.

I fully relate. I love the conehead characters and need them to complete my season 1-2 Decepticons. I have Dirge and he’s so floppy and unappealing to handle that I will be selling him and passing on the other two. I pray to Vector Sigma every night that someone like Star Toys will do the right thing and give us some DS style Coneheads! PLEEEEAASE!

So I got the G2 Ramjet and it’s my first experience with any MakeToys seeker.
And I’m not a fan. The mould is ok and I quite like the transformation. I can see why in a world when the only other choice was the MP-11 or MP-3 mould, this would illicit some excitement. But the issues it has make it incredibly unlikeable. Tabs don’t tab in, stress marks in the arm gun sockets simply from inserting the guns, borderline floppy ab section, tolerances all over the place, the list goes on.
I actually prefer the MP-11 Coneheads. And I don’t like them either.
On the plus side, the colours are amazing.

I wanted to say TFSource sent me a brand new copy of Jetstream, since the initial one I purchased had broken parts out of the box. I received the new figure today, and it's solid. Good to see a retailer stand by their products, and offer such good service to their customers.
White /light grey face for Jetstream is my next paint mod!

Yeah still pisses me off that they screwed up Ramjet and Thrust. I'm so close to having options to fill every hole in my collection, but those messed up colors make this entire set unviable for me (which means I bought Dirge for nothing).
CyclonuS_ZerO
Man… why they couldn't do that in the first fucking place is beyond me. Or why they couldn't make Ramjet's arms white… hopefully Takara will do new versions and Star Toys will do a slight upscale/remold to fit their Seeker mold. I want some solid accurate Cone Heads. Looks good though dude.

Now *I* can't see anything but the goatee. Now he looks like James Lipton to me.

Looks good! My brain sees the mouth with a pencil thin goatee. I think that's supposed to be his teeth, but I can't unsee the goatee now

So, I've carefully applied another coating with a new pencil and finally I can live with the result.

Is it the sort of thing that'd take dye? I wonder if that'd work at all?

In hindsight, don't paint the elbow joint piece that connects the bicep to the forearm on these guys. It's made out of a softer type of plastic that paint does not like to stick to. It chipped on me already. I removed the rest of the paint from said joint, but at least the rest of the arm is white. It's not ideal, but better than the whole arm being dark grey.
King Nergil
Yeah, when I stand in front of the shelf that isn't noticeable. When I take him out and look very closely it looks like on the pics.

Not bad but the up-close pictures looks like he has cake frosting on his face on some angles.
