Here's why I wish Machinima's work was good:
Eventually this is going to lead to the media version of "kids don't like dinosaurs anymore." Hasbro's going to say they gave us a new "G1" cartoon and nobody watched it so we clearly weren't interested.

like i said, its pretty inconsistent. victory saber is treated as star saber plus upgrade (no merging of minds) as is armada prime plus jetfire and overload. in g1 if a combiner truly is a gestalt mind then how could the protectobots even form defensor without first aid? they shouldnt be able to. in rid01 landfill is just wedge upgraded whereas omega prime is actually a merged mind. combiners have never been portrayed consistently in any media.
Also I didn’t say everyone was compatible with everyone, however in the context of combiner wars, there are 5 limb bots for both superion and menasor (one member from each having to be replaced due to death or quitting in idw) and there was little consequence to the combined mind
BB Shockwave
That only happened with Menasor. It's because all the team hates and fears Motormaster that they talk back and resist him subconsciously, that's why he is hindered in combined form. Even the Dreamwave and IDW comics used this in his defeat.
And no, in no continuity is God Ginrai a combiner… Godbomber is not a Cybertronian, he is a non-sentient drone extension.
Victory Saber is indeed a combiner, yes. And so is Armada Prime+Jetfire. Though as I recall in Energon, in the Powelinx combinations it is not a merging of the minds, simply whoever is on top is the dominant half – they continue to talk with the same voice and personality.
And no, members cannot be mix-and-matched without consequences. I recall that in Scramble City (a G1 OVA) actually Wildrider successfully paralyzed Superion by attaching himself as a leg to him and his mind distrupting the gestalt mind. Not everyone is compatible with everyone.
Fenrys
combiners are also handled in an extremely contradictory manner in the g1 cartoon at least (admittedly ive never read the marvel comics). you yourself pointed out several times the individual mind took over a limb in g1 rather than it truly being a gestalt mind. and of course defensor would be able to function well without first aid considering he would be short one limb, thats actually one thing i appreciate about combiner wars, the fact that there are auxilary limbs for nearly every team
in g1 you also have combiners that are essentially just powerups for the bot that forms the head (every autobot leader combination ever save for rid01 omega prime). and yes i count god ginrai as a combiner and i count victory saber as a combiner, since they are one bot combining with another
BB Shockwave
I think you have not really watched/read G1, very well, then… or not paid attention.
-G1 cartoon explained very well that the combiner's mind was a gestalt construct of the personalities of the individual members. Remember the episode where the Protectobots could not function well as Defensor when First Aid quit? Or when Brawl's personality component was sold by Swindle, and the Combaticons could not even combine to Bruticus without that?
-G1 Marvel comic even goes to FAR more detail. Silverbolt was reluctant to combine because then their minds become one and his teammates learned he is afraid of heights. Menasor was merged from such incompatible members, Dead End once refused to shoot when Motormaster told him so while they were Menasor, making the gestalt argue with itself. The Seacons preferred to use Nautilator as a gun and not combine with him because he simply, sucks at underwater operations. Predaking is so efficient because all the predacons love to hunt, and this desire rules their minds when combined and makes Predaking function better than most gestalts, decreasing his reaction times.
Basically, combiners are not just robots that combine into a big robot. It is a mental process too and the resulting personality is a merging of the minds, with one or more traits being dominant in them, others being suppressed. Devastator is the first combiner in most G1 media and it is explained why he is so… basic, aka "Me Devastator SMASH!" in behaviour because he is an early model. I mean most of the Constructicons are engineers and doctors and chemists, they are pretty smart, but their combined mind is still one of the most primitive of the gestalts. Later combiners have a far more perfect merging of the minds.
If we just take anything that came after 1984, I'll take the Ducktales, Gummi Bears, The Real Ghostbusters, Bravestarr, Dino Riders, but even Visionaries over the G1 show. I still like some episodes of Sunbow G1, sure, but it was never that show that made me a transformers fan, it were the Marvel TF comics.

You still don't get my point. I watch this show for 2 reasons:
-It is still Transformers, and I am going to check out every TF media. Also, I am curious to see what characters they bring in and what characterisation they give them. Never expected to see Solus Prime, for example.
-I expected it to be bad, and in that regard much like terrible animation like Dingo Pictures movies, or Foodfight, it often has moments where something so stupid happens I am slapping my couch from laughter. In this case, the attack by a t-rex form Grimlock looked like a kid was off-screen, waving the toy into the camera, it was hilarious, I laughed myself silly. I don't want to miss scenes like that by skipping this show.

My point was that if you don’t enjoy something then why subject yourself to it? I don’t like fish, so I don’t eat fish. I don’t go out seeking fish to eat all the while complaining about how horrible I think fish is. I avoid the discomfort by just not eating fish. It’s a pretty simple concept that I feel a lot of people no longer recognize
BB Shockwave
Then what did you mean? You said we should not watch them if we don't like it because I assumed you are worried about them profiting from views. Because otherwise, please don't tell us what to do – we can watch whatever we like. If people did not watch terrible movies, MST3K would not exist, for example.
No. They are obviously based on the PotP toys save for Grimlock, who is oddly based on the MP toy. I am guessing because they worked from the early PotP designs, and we just saw in the "Leaked from Cybertron" news that the early PotP Grimlock design had the tail part of the MP toy.
Wow that blew my mind. I saw that KO before on Aliexpress… seriously that is totally like how Megatronus looks. Explains the silly Galactus hat, but… why? They could have just mailed Hasbro to send them a pic of him from their Aligned Bible thingie… Guess they are too lazy even for that.
Fenrys
that has nothing to do with what i was saying really
BB Shockwave
In case you have been living under a rock for the past 6 months, you would have known the PotP dinobots are based on the G1 toys down to the translucent "skulls" and gold chrome replicated with metallic paint. OF COURSE Sludge looks like G1 Sludge. You could also complain that Grimlock has the posture of the 1980s idea on how the T-Rex walked, too – again, same reason.
Me watching it won't give them any views or ad revenue, trust me. And if you are worried about that just use Adblock.
That's a terrible way to ask someone out on a date.
mcart
That's what I'm thinking too.
Ideally I'd have them expose this by having some plot element that can't be overcome without Victorian separating but she explains that to do this would kill dust-up.
Dustup accepts her fate and just as they are to separate and dustup will sacrifice herself nobly to save the team. Someone turns up with the Mcguffin to heal her.

I am late to the party, but I said my piece already in the Kimcartoon's disqus topic on this…
Basically, I am amazed. Not many shows can say they have not only learned NOTHING from feedback, they actually gotten WORSE. I am sorry but I have seen bad anime dubs and even Dingo Pictures movies that have a better lipsynch than this atrocity… Especially in the flashback with the female Prime it is hilarious to see that the animators thought all they need to do was to make her lips move randomly and have her head bob up and down. When later we see the whole group talk this way, including Megatron and Perceptor, it is even more ridiculous, they look like they are just puppets. And Grimlock (who is weirdly, based on the Masterpiece toy, not the PotP Voyager) in dino mode moves like a kid's hands were offscreen, playing with the toy doing "om-nom-nom".
Mark Hamill, likely even more depressed after the character assassination of Luke Skywalker, clearly does not give 2 tosses about this project, and just speaks in his own "grumpy old man" voice for Megatronus.
And I am sorry, but anyone can explain to me what purpose Primus thought CYBERNETIC GRASS would serve, growing out of the "swamp" and opening up? Furthermore… how can metallic grass in water catch on FIRE??? I guess the creators are even more clueless about how things work than I thought.

When Hasbro, after THIS many years of waiting, gives you totally G1 accurate Dinobots that combine? I will BUY THE HECK out of them (also any G2 or G1 cartoon repaints that might come later), not give my money to some talentless chinese company that just rips off the work of hard-working Has/Tak designers. Just my 2 cents.
Also the Dinobots are ridiculously oversized here. Sludge alone is as big as Victorion! That's just too big. They are based on Earth dinos, they are not the same size as those… if that was the case Sludge would be three times the size of Snarl.
I laughed out loud at that scene, when Windblade just kicks a charging triceratops three times her size. I expected her to grab the horns and jump over him, but nope, physics? What are those???
Actually I remember one of the copters was seen separately in Titans Return, ferrying Rodimus to the matrix chamber, and was called by name. So they do know that basically Trypticon killed one fifth of Victorion by biting her arm in two. It's odd that the mental backlash did not make her separate, I mean suddenly one part of the gestalt mind is dead… We have seen Gestalts fall apart from less. But of course the writers are stupid and think combiners are just like in Energon, big robots who turn into smaller vehicles that are all the same mind? I dunno at this point…
There is something called being a FAN. Y'd think someone registered here since 12 years would by now, understand that people who are serious fans a franchise will check out EVERYTHING associated with the franchise, bad or good? Because it's not like Transformers is as huge as say, Marvel or DC comics where a fan would need to keep track of 25 comics per month plus movies and animated shows. This is the only ongoing TF cartoon now bar Rescue Bots. Of course we would check it out. They are just 8 minute episodes you can pop in while you have breakfast.

My thoughts exactly
Bass X0
Is it bad? Well, its more accurate to say its not good. Combiner Wars was definitely bad. So far, this has been an improvement. But still, not good.
