Via Loopaza Mega Store on Facebook we can report the next wave of Takara Tomy Studio Series. The collection continues on July 2018 with the next molds:
- SS-09 Deluxe Autobot Jazz 2,800 yen
- SS-10 Deluxe Lockdown (Age Of Extinction) 2,800 yen
- SS-11 Voyager Megatron (Revenge Of The Fallen) 4,500 yen
- SS-12 Voyager Brawl 4,500 yen
According to the retailer solicit sheet, pre-orders for these will officially open 31 May 2018. There is something to notice with this second wave. Takara Tomy has changed numbering for Jazz to 09. Hasbro has got Jazz as number 10, following the recently reported Toys R Us exclusive Thundercraker (remold/repaint of Nitro Zeus).
Does this mean Takara will not release Thundercracker? Or will he be released as an EX special item? Let us know your ideas at the 2005 Boards!
Jazz of Staniz
When will these figures be released in the United States? Will it be the same date as in Japan (July 28)?

If that’s how they are supposed to be, then I’m going to have to spin them back around like he comes packaged and how he was displayed when first revealed alongside Jazz at toyfair or whatever it was. To me, it looks more on model like that. His biceps were a collage of different greebly bits, not smooth, or bulky. The other way just looks more pleasing to me I guess. Either way, he looks miles better than the first one! Amiright?
SPLIT LIP
They are spun around properly in those pics. The wheels should be on the inside, with the hood sections facing forward. To have them the opposite way is to leave them untransformed.

I saw HA Jazz quite often back then. Bought it twice, then ended up selling most of my HA stuff because, like you said, it didn't really scale with anything.
If I were all in on this line I'd do what you are doing, but I don't like enough of the SS figures to justify selling off perfectly good older movie figures.
Shmoptimus Prime
I never once saw him at retail, and BOY did I look around.
But yes, if scaling with older figures is a priority to you then Jazz may not be for you. I sold off or gave away 90% of my figures over the last few years, so most of the SS line is perfect for me since they're generally the best representations of the characters so far AND they scale well with each other, which is a first for a main line.
Dachande
HA was around $30 when it hit retail, and it's very big.
SS is around Scout-sized and will be $20 at retail.
It really all depends on where your priorities are as far as scale/value are concerned.
I'm only in this wave for Megatron and Lockdown. Both look like they're going to scale pretty well with older movie figures, which I place a huge value on.
Shmoptimus Prime
The HA and the SS both have their problems, but one is a deluxe and one is the carbot equivalent of a leader class figure so it's not really fair either way to compare the two. Get whichever fits into your collection better. Just keep in mind that the HA is almost impossible to get for anywhere NEAR $20, and doesn't scale well with much.

So happy I caught hlj in time, 2x Megatron, lockdown and brawl, cannot wait, hope these hit canada soon but we ll see
Jazz of Staniz
An ankle tilt is not present in Human Alliance Jazz. It is in the Studio Series deluxe. Please see the attached images for example. The bottom of Studio Series Jazz’s feet are able to be parallel with the ground when his legs are stretched out, whereas the Human Alliance figure has to balance its feet because it is not able to stretch the legs out and have its feet be flat on the ground. That is what an ankle tilt is. Please see Prime vs Prime’s review for more examples of Studio Series Jazz’s amazing poseability.

Backpack-wise, Human Alliance may compress, but the backpack is no less of an intrusion and no more accurate than the Studio Series deluxe.
And when it comes to scale, the Human Alliance figure is massive when compared to most any figure, and the Studio Series is small compared to any non-legends or Scout class figure. Jazz is tiny in the movie, so it makes sense. Put Human Alliance Jazz next to a deluxe or Human Alliance Bumblebee, and he’s too big. Use the Studio Series figure, and he’s small as he is supposed to be. You’re right that scale isn’t too much of a big deal, but being small is one accuracy (of many) that the Studio Series beats the Human Alliance figure in.
Toolala
the Human alliance had an "ankle" tilt too, it was just as awkward looking as this one because it was too high up. the backpack on the HA at least compresses some instead of being a cape, and the scale is only "better" for this line, so that's not really a point.
BIGGUY007
I hope whenever that Jazz figure hits the shelves, that someone compares him to the figure we got for the 2007 Transformers Movie Jazz.
Jerrimus
Other than comparing scale, the HA Jazz is many times over a better looking figure. Granted I come from the position of owning an self custom HA over the SS version, but I’m damn sure not going to replace my custom battle blade bee in my movie display. It’s odd that he is bigger than bee, but he was in G1 too
NominusDP
Yeah , in fact that's how I felt when I saw the Prime Masters
Jazz of Staniz
This has more articulation than HA, with an ankle tilt and better arm joints. It has better proportions and more accurate colors, as well as more accurate molding in the ankles and forearms. It does lack the opening visor, but everyone prefers Jazz with a visor than without. As for the backpack, the Human Alliance version is just as intrusive if not worse. Not to mention that it has better scale.
Jerrimus
Why can’t anyone transform Lockdown’s biceps properly? He looks too beefy with them not spun around properly.
SPLIT LIP
Why is Takara using outdated test shots? Lockdown still has the silver face and headlights.
HunterGreen2005
Everyone says that until they see them in package at the store. Or if you have SS Optimus, Blackout, and Starscream, you need that Megatron in your life, and pick up Brawl while you are at it.
HunterGreen2005
Sweet. July 28 is Studio Series Wave 2 Eff You Scalpers Day!
Can't wait for Brawl, Lockdown, Megatron and easy pass on Jazz.
