Tokyo Wonderfest was held a few hours ago. While it was not full of astonishing reveals, the event showed some cool displays, dioramas, toys and more.
We have prepared a round up of images, thanks to several of our 2005 Boards members and other sources like Twitter. So far we could see:
- Takara Tomy Booth. Showing several of the past conventions exclusives you could buy there.
- TLK Dioramas. Recreating some scenes from the last live-action movie.
- Power Of The Primes Terrocons and Abominus. No differences with the Hasbro realeases. Abominus is displayed in his G1 cartoon configuration.
- Power Of The Primes Optimus Primal and Predaking Prototypes. Gray prototypes of these impressive figures we could see at Toyfair.
- Power Of The Primes Prime Wave 1 and 2. All the figures we have seen before for Prime Masters, Deluxe, Voyager and Leader classes. Once again, no difference with Hasbro’s releases. Volcanicus was shown too.
- MP-34S Shadow Panther and MP-17+Prowl. Production samples of both new MP repaints.
- MP 41 Masterpiece Dinobot. The great and honorable Maximal warrior was shown in both modes.
- Takara Studio Series Line Up. All Takara Studio series were on display. Same packaging and colors as the Hasbro figures at Toyfair. There’s one interesting image shown on a screen. It let us see the size and scale comparison of each figure.
- Prime 1 Studio Statues. TLK Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Drift were on display.
- Star Wars Powered By Transformers. TIE Advanced x1 (Darth Vader) and the new Millenium Falcon (Chewbacca and Han Solo).
- Takara New Diaclone.
You can check out the mirrored images after the jump. You can find even more images in the respective thread at the 2005 Boards!

Just want to reserve one as soon as possible. Because of the other 5 stores that had Blackout and sold out in hours, I don't want Anime Export to be next. I know I should just wait till April when they hit Retail. But with Blackout's popularity, you'd think he was like Turboman.

I never noticed that Grimlock's CGI model had two T-rex heads… nor did I notice it on the new toy, but now I know I can't stop staring at it.
What an utterly weird design choice. I guess they legitimately did not care about whether or not they actually looked like they transformed from their alt-modes.

They're not out in Japan, yet. Why would you be sniffing around in Japan?

Doing the math, for the past year mind you… The 30% discount at AE is almost worthless after factoring in the high shipping costs and almost non-existant customer support and replacement options if something goes wrong.
This, coming from a guy with 7 months of MP's and LG's sitting in a POL @AE himself.
I have to choose either an arm, or a leg to ship it all now.
Last bbts haul I had shipped only cost me a fraction of what it used to… Like less than 10 bucks for roughly 400 bucks of product.
If these hit bbts, I will be shopping there… If I can get the preorder in before they sell out of course.

Even if I had a BBTS account, it's not there right now. Plus, I want to get it at Anime Export because of the 30% off.

Have you tried other sites like BBTS etc? Or best wait for second hand market releases from Japanese online hobby shops like Mandarake or Jungle Collector's shop International?

If the paint is that good on the final release, might have to pick him up. Sculpt looks fantastic too, and really interested to see his transformation.
Man, the leaders in this line are killing it! Best I've seen in ages.

Anime Export. I must have emailed them 7 times in 2 days and no preorders.

Back on topic: April is such a torturous wait to get my grubby hands on ol beautiful Studio Series badass Leader Grimlock.

So, four heads?

BTW, I took a look at that "Scale Chart" pic they included. Is that really the size difference between these figures, or is that incorrect and they just put it there for some random reason? Because Ratchet does not look that much bigger than Bumblebee to me, but every pic that has both of them in it doesn't have them side-by-side on the same surface.
primalxconvoy
Maybe. You would think, in this "brand unification" era, Takara would do the same. Still, at least folks in Japan got the chance to buy older, perhaps missed-out-upon stock this time round.
RodimusSupreme
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Hasbro put the first wave of Deluxe Studio Series figures on early preorder at Toy Fair?
RodimusSupreme
He had two top halves on each shoulder.
primalxconvoy
You never know, maybe there's a mod or fan-mod to have a two headed t-rex mode!
Also, didn't the actual film design sport two full heads on each shoulder?
Fallout
yeah, the stupid fake heads on both the model and the new leader kill it for me and cement the voyager as my ideal grimlock. sucks besides aside from those fake heads, it's an amazing design.

at least its not as cheap, sad and plain as titan class devastator,
and the individual bots look to at least have more articulation than the constructicons
