We had previously reported that Hero-X, the publisher behind Transformers: Generations collection of books will be publishing the classic Marvel Transformers comics in Japanese.
Hero-X is planning to release all issues of the classic series, and thanks to 2005 Boards member Gaokaiser for sharing the cover of the first volume which surfaced via Hero X Twitter. It’s an astonishing art featuring a battle between Autobots and Decepticons. The center features Optimus Prime and Megatron in an intense fight, where Optimus is grabbing Starscream by the neck and Megatron has just blown away one of Prime’s arms with a shot of his fusion cannon. The cover was drawn by artist Oshima Yuuki who shared the sketches of his amazing job via his twitter.
This volume will include the first 4 issues of the 1984 series will be released on February 23rd, 2018 for 2,560 yen (approx. $23) and will include original Japanese commentaries and a Marvel UK cover gallery.
You can check out the mirrored images after the jump and then sound off at the 2005 Boards!

Lovely artwork

Ah, that's it, thanks. You should add this to the TFwiki page for Arcee, as the fan version he made was probably THE standard for all the third party and official Arcee toys onwards. However, I'm sure his work was used to make garage kits…
Sam
It wasn't a garage kit. Kobayashi made that custom Arcee from scratch. Takara saw it, and invited him to join the design team – such a cool story.
Kobayashi is the designer of MP-1, the deco for MP-5, MP-8, 9, 11, and all of the new mould MPs after and including MP-22. He wasn't the main designer working on MP-28, however.
From what I understand Onishi also designed the alt-mode for MP-28 which was the basis of that MP. Onishi seems to be brought on at differing stages of development, though I can imagine he's constantly being hired to draw the original sketches for MPs.

That's it!
Hironori Kobayashi – Transformers Wiki
It doesn't mention his garage kit, though…
My bucket list is not complete!
Spontificus
I love that it has all of that G1 Marvel miscoloration goodness.
rendsora
If I'm not wrong that's Hironori Kobayashi.
primalxconvoy
But that wasn't Oshima, right? I can't find anything about the designer at Tfwiki, either.
MegaDolrailer
You are right!
rendsora
Yup garage kit fella who then became a big time MP designer.
primalxconvoy
I think he just did the product illustration, non? Wasn't it the garage kit fella that designed the toy?
AmonDemon112
Ughhhh yes… That's a fantastic idea! And yeah surprised I haven't seen you do your own TF comics! Lol
But yeah I adore Guido Guidi's retro style!
May not be Season 2.5 but hey at least there's an actual movie adaption done by Don Figueroa and Bob Budiansky…
Dean ML
Yeah – Guidi's covers were my favorite bits of the whole run, too! And yes, would definitely kill to see him working his retro style drawing the old comics, "remastering" them. Wish I had the time to do it myself! Only possible bit of trouble would be Spider-Man's appearance. I think what I'd really love are comics adapting the Sunbow show and finally doing a season 2.5. Flint Dille writing, of course!

Agreed. The finished coloring looks so dreary and murky…

Regeneration was okay. I did enjoy it and was fascinating to see Furman's work taken to the very end and Guido Guidi's retro art was my absolute favorite of them all! I made sure with every issue of Regeneration One that i got was Cover B with Guido Guidi's art! Lol
How cool would it be if they updated the old comics with Guidi's art!?!

Marvel G1 for japan audiences.

YEAH

Lost Episodes set during the first two seasons of the show. Or pick up where it left off with the 87-G2 cast. (The same for Beast Wars.) Even just one or two OGNs a year.
The first Dreamwave captured as much of the cartoon as they could and it literally took Jim Lee drawing Batman to top it in sales for the entirety of its run. Which Jim did exactly once in six months. Modern TF comics barely make the Top 300 in sales. You can argue quality, but clearly there's something missing from the current line that people would be willing to pay money for. The toys are making money from exactly this market. Generations and Masterpiece. It won't be a top 5 seller, but the money is clearly out there to be spent on this.

Wow the lineart looks so much better before it was colored.
