Comics website Outright Geekery reports on a positive reception for the first issue of Transformers VS Visionaries (be warned, spoilers in the article). According to their information, the first issue that reintroduces the Visionaries (albeit in a new and different form) has sold out at a distributor level, prompting a second printing which is due to arrive on the same day that issue two of the five issue miniseries is due to arrive, January 31st.
It’s an interesting indicator of how much interest there is in bringing back one of Hasbro’s lesser known franchises, although fans of the original have complained that these new Visionaries have little to do with the originals. Time will tell if as the Visionaries become a larger part of IDW’s Hasbroverse if they will take on more attributes of their classic incarnations.

That's true. If they only printed 2,000 copies it could sell out but still not be a great success. Can't wait to see the Comichron numbers for the actual sales figures.
I was hoping all the crossovers wouldn't be huge hits so that IDW would eventually decide to keep the Transformers more self contained. Optimus Prime has been unreadable because of all the interference. But if this stuff actually sells…..

Distributor level doesn't mean they are flying off the shelves.

Deadpool Kills The IDW Universe.
I'd read it.

We as a group brought these comics to g2 and what led to what is current. It’s not going away. Things change when you go forward. Some hate, some love, some stay neutral. However, if we buckle up, we will make it through whatever combo they through at us. I’m just glad the gap of nothing I lived through in the 90,s led to another (and multiple) comics adding to the history of my beloved franchise. Yes, this currently has no interest to me, but I’m glad they give me a choice rather than nothing at all. Stay calm folks. Could be very worse

every new Marvel book had Spider-Man guest star in issue #3 at the time

Revisionist history. The Archie Megaman comic was about to die when the Worlds Collide crossover gave it enough life to keep going another 20 issues. Don't act like Worlds Collide was the thing that started the darn thing.
Rodimus Prime
People still do it to a lesser degree. If they didn't, we wouldn't have alternative and lenticular covers.

The speculator boom dies in 20 years ago, dude.
Rodimus Prime
Probably assume that it will have collector value, plus it's new. Apparently some people don't know how 1st issues work with comics.
As for the whole thing ending, I seriously doubt that I am that lucky.
GOLD5
Yeah but every Marvel book back then had either Spidey or Wolverine show up by issue #3 to 'establish' the book.. Not just Transformers.. Now its Deadpools job

The Transformers fandom is the Chicken Little of fandoms.
Mr. Chaos
It is but not as bad as this fandom. Marvel and DC fans get mad when the do it BUT if it is a good story they support it. Miles Morales Spdier-Man, the new Ms. Marvel, Jaime Reyes, so on.
This fandom never stops being mad. Story is good and gets a second printing "Ugh! Now they will just do MORE OF THIS!". A new character is introduced and gains fans and is in a well-liked series "Ugh, Mary Sue character getting attention!"
Again, I think some fans honestly just want this fandom to be a tiny, cult-following where nothing is main stream and all the figures cost hundreds of dollars and are super rare and nothing ever changes.
Uh… no, we aren't all acknowledging that. Just a few people creating theories based on the plotting of one arc and the introduction of a character. That's literally it.

Marvel Transformers needed to have Spiderman as a guest character in #3 to generate more sales.

So we all acknowledge that IDW\'s Unicron event is most likely going to be a grand finale.
How that finale ends depends on the sales of the next few events and issues of the current comics.
If they sell well, Unicron is defeated and the current universe will go on. If sales do poorly, well, Unicron won\'t be hungry for long and we will probably get a reboot or something.

Megaman is not MASK, Micronauts, and the freaking Visionaries.
SonicGX98
Jesus, is this what every Marvel and DC fan is like too? Do people get mad when Marvel and DC decide to make a new bunch of characters or reinvent old ones from decades ago and have them piggyback with larger titles like Spiderman and Batman? That's just common sense in business world, man. That's basically what happened with Archie's Megaman comics when they piggybacked off their Sonic comic and they ended up doing pretty well for the first twenty issues or so before they got canceled at issue 55.
Negativedark
Well great. From now on whenever IDW wants to try and get another never was property over they'll just have them kill off major Transformers in the first issue to make it seem like they other property is important.
ultramagnus1
Just because lost light and optimus prime may be coming to an end does not mean the whole continuity is finishing.
And likewise with Unicron. Plus we don't know just what his role will be in IDW. To me it looks like we are moving into a beast wars era….

Thanks for clarifying that, guys!
