It’s not everyday we see Decepticons blowing Autobots out of the water. Weibo user 淘宝店变形金刚改造工厂 has shared new images from the Transformers Authentic “Evergreen” Value Channel toyline and they are a far cry (in a good way) from the Optimus Prime and Bumblebee toys we saw yesterday.
With nicely articulated limbs and less “clunky” robot modes, Starscream and Megatron seems to be the crown jewels of the new toyline unless Grimlock has something to say about it.
Check out the Robot Mode and In-Package images of the two Decepticons, after the jump.

Oooooh now I really want to see Grimlock. Having a pocket sized G1-ish Grimlock is just too good to resist.

Okay, I soooo want these even more now for my Cyberverse collection. Loving the detailing and size.

The USS Flagg sold for $120 in 1985 if you adjust that for inflation alone that come to just under $300 but that does not account for the price of the raw materials that would be used to make the thing that did not go up at the same rate as inflation.

I expect these are no larger than Scout size – perhaps much smaller and aimed at what used to be called 'Market 6' outlets.
I'd not mind either way if they are Legends, legion or scout I'd find some use for them.
Legions are ideal for interaction with playsets. Legends work decently as a modest representation to make your combiners look bigger. and they also go with the smaller 3rd party toys. A scout size i'd not mind as it's a fun size to play with and these would certainly be more welcome than one step changers are as a successor to that scale.
There was some rumour many months ago of smaller 'Other markets' Generations toys (like the Battallion ones are) and I expect these are it.
I just hope they are not self defeated by delusional pricing models.

More like scouts

Is that a good deal for something that big ? I would think it is fair when you think about how much a mint, complete G1 Fortress Maximus Re-issue goes for and the Flagg was much bigger than Fort Max.
In fact, the Flagg was by FAR the biggest playset ever made.

About $460

@ZapRowsdower Distribution =/= design & production, particularly since those issues exist with or without this new line. But as you wish. No desire to debate it.

You're right. And it's not like Hasbro has TOO MUCH on its plate. After all, lots of their toys make it to market, no problem. And there have been no significant delays in the TR line, so why should we complain about another set of toys for yet another market?
I'll be happy, like the rest of you, when these flood Dollar Stores in huge crates, while I'm still looking for phantom TR figures.
On the other hand, I wonder how wise it is to put more on your production plate when you're struggling so hard to make/send proper movie toys to stores? Can we expect this Evergreen line BEFORE Cogman hits shelves?

So they're 4.5 inches … are they sorta like Deluxes?
seanlockyer
That thing was 150-199 at Sears back in 1985 so what would it be today, adjusted for inflation ? 1500 ? 2000 ?

The super-articulated figures that you say are $5 were actually $12.99 when they stopped making them for the main line. That said, they still make them as Walmart Exclusives and they are still $12.99.
Also: The "$9" figures out now have an MSRP of $6.99. So while they did drop articulation they also dropped price by about half.
That toy was not $7 new, it was $29.99.

Toys these days have a strong focus on collectors and nostalgia, though. Generations for example. Kids can totally buy the figures, but they could have just as easily bought all new characters at that level of complexity/that aesthetic. Hasbro chooses to make old characters again because they know there's collector money to be taken. Meanwhile, RID is purely a "for the kids" line and it's loaded with gimmicks and colorful new characters.

@ar78 I keep pressing the button but it only lets me give you +1! It's so true. The USS Flagg is absolutely a case where you can say "they don't make them like that anymore". I remember seeing pictures of it years after the fact – I'd never seen one in person, none of my friends were "lucky" enough to have one – and being kind of boondoggled by the sheer scale of it all. And it sold for $110 at the time!
$110! According to some inflation calculators it's the equivalent of anywhere between $210-$250 today. For an EIGHT FOOT LONG AIRCRAFT CARRIER PLAYSET.
I just /boggle when I think about it.

I dont often have a lot on my mind and even I'm having a difficult time figuring out whats what.
Edit to make myself sound slightly less stupid: I also don't pay super close attention to these lines anyway.

Hasbro might have to ban flea markets and garage sale.
Once my son figured out he could get four 2002-2010 era Star Wars figures with full articulation for $10, he doesn't want the new ones anymore. He said, "These new guys suck, they don't even have legs that bend. Can you get me more of those awesome ones from the flea market." He even asked if he could trade the Boba Fett he got last year for the one the flea market guy had.
There is no better example of the garbage Hasbro pulled than the $5 Star Wars figure with 19 points of articulation being replaced with a figure that is now $9 with 5 points.
My son's favorite Transformer right now is the Ultra Class Powerglide he got for $7 at the flea market. On heft and quality he blows any of the $40 leader class toys from the past six years out of the water. As a collector figure, maybe he isn't that great, but he's a far superior toy.
Hasbro has forgotten how to make toys. A $300 AT-AT is not a toy. It's an overpriced statement piece for a rich kid. At least when I was 8 the overpriced statement piece for a rich kid took up half a living room and could land the toys I had on top of it. Yeah, show a kid the GI Joe aircraft carrier and look at his face. What would Hasbro charge for that today, $5000?

Go away! Next you're gonna tell us Transformers toys are meant for kids or something…

Can't argue with that! My bootleg Grimlock and constructicon set absolutely did not have run patches, and that was the only difference!
