Production for The Bumblebee Movie is at a great start and thanks to Hailee Steinfield herself – we have our first look at Charlie Watson, being played by…well…Hailee Steinfield. The image was released via twitter and we now have an idea of how the character will look in the upcoming movie. Previous articles revealed that Hailee’s character will play a tomboy that works as a mechanic after school and today’s reveal is accurate to the characters earlier descpription. Sporting a Motorhead T-shirt, ripped jeans, and zebra patterned Nike’s, Steinfield character “Charlie Watson” is ready for action.
Check out the new characters look after the jump and sound off in our boards!

Can't see the twitter pics, but in the trailers she looks very casually dressed to me. I don't really get metal head vibe off her. I think they make cute friends.

I’m more interested to know where and what happen to her in Sam witwicky’s timeline leading up to tf5:tlk. I’m guessing she could be dead or killed.. and bee got so depressed he decided to hide as alt mode and never again show his robot side until he met Sam ..

I agree i dont get that either. We're men! We're supposed to think girls are "hot" or "cute" or whatever. I think it's way more creepy when fans talking about cumming because of a toy that they like. That always makes me cringe.
That said I like the 1980s direction it's being taken in. How many Transformers are supposed to be in this movie? And are they going to finish the 2nd trilogy ever?

This thread is awful. Politics should have no place here.

Well, not to get too political, but they've had that opportunity in the past, but it's led to some of the darkest aspects of history, so..

When it comes to lack of understanding the difference between compliments/statements to cat calls and inappropriate remarks, male egos tend to come in all shades and hues.
But I see your point in other cinematic matters.

Back to Charlie's character, I'm hoping her relationship with her mother isn't wholly dysfunctional and played off for cheap laughs the same way that Sam and his parents were.

SJWs ruining everything, why can't w(hite mal)e(s) all just have our fun?
Raiju
I've lost count of how many times some guy (white male whose fragile little ego is threatened by change) has ranted about SJW's ruining this that or the other and pushing their "agenda", on other parts of this board.
You're assuming Transformers HAS to be a franchise to be enjoyed only by boys/men. That's simply wrong since many girls/women (my wife included) are fans who also enjoy the franchise (whether it's the video games, movies, toys, cartoon shows, etc.). My wife watched the first Bay movie 4 times when it was in theaters because she loved it so much.
Also, Hasbro would be stupid for ignoring half their target demographic (based solely on gender) if they want to expand their base and increase sales. Ditto with movies (especially Paramount as they need their films to succeed now more than ever).
Males don't need to relate to females in a personal way? Why not start by relating to Steinfeld's performance as a fully fledged character? I admit that there could be less heavy handed ways of promoting the whole girl power angle (those TV commercials with Izzy/Moner).
I'd rather they treat Charlie as a fleshed out character than simply just a female character who kicks ass for ass-kicking's sake. More young Ellen Ripley (the first two Alien films) than Lara Croft.

Hahaha
It's probably 20'th time, when someone on this site is REALLY surprised that I'm woman
But I honestly like it, I feel that you consider me equal to you, and that's another cause, why I so love TFW
So, the discussion tends to become interesting! Yeah, maybe this girl will add to the Movie new emotional wave, which is every woman appreciates, I only afraid that, as many recent movies with female protagonists (Wonder Woman, Hunger Games) this approach may be stereotypical again. All those movies try to avoid this, but I doubt that it's possible at all (because an attitude to women is generally stereotypical and most of people who determine the path of our world are men. Sadly). The movie with woman in the main role is concentrated about the idea that the hero is FEMALE and emphasises it too much. When you see a movie with leading male actor you don't feel it. Although Bumblebee Movie can easily beat it! Because of Bumblebee! For him she is a HUMAN, he shouldn't be very interested in her gender. So we may be distracted from stereotypes in this case. Everything depends from Bumblebee's role! Another aspect – in the male-leading movie you have many male characters and can compare them, but in female-leading movie the situation is opposite. So again woman psychology is in the center. It is supposed like something very rare and "new" to audience. And as much, as they try to show women strong, they still show them fragile. Like men can't be fragile
Everyone, even Cybertronian, can be internally fragile and need support. I love TF Movies, because they show our races in general, our similarities and differences, pure individualities and corrupted ones. If the new dirrector and screenwriter feel it, we'll get a great movie!

Ohhhh! Sorry about that. A woman? That's kinda rare around here, ya?
So I'd give your input more weight, because this girl is being designed for you (I assume Paramount doesn't want her to be a sex object for men). I just don't understand why a girl needs to be the star of a movie for boys/guys…
The only time I see that working is when the girl is supposed to be sexy (i.e. Tomb Raider), but even then you end up with a competing franchise that's just as (or more) popular (i.e. Uncharted). Boys/men do not relate to teenage girls in a personal way, so there's going to be a lot of people who simply don't care to see this movie.
Unless BB gets a lot of scenes (or the previews downplay the girl's role – they did this with the new Ghostbusters movie!).

Pretty much.
And much of it isn't even leaning left, it's just being a decent human being and knowing the difference between sexual harassment and saying someone is attractive.
It's amazing how much people try to rationalize bad actions, and when all else fails, they scream "LEFTIE SJW!"

Yeah, this really bother me. And I'm woman, soI'm more interested in what this girl will do tha how she looks.

I get sick of the "anyone who has different sensibilities than me that I also perceive to be slightly more to the left on the political spectrum than myself is an SJW" bit.

Why does rape have to have anything to do with it. Pretty sure someone could make a bad, but consensual, decision and end up in the same mood.
There was no implication of consent per se, only a highlighting of the fact that she felt confident enough in her own sexuality to sing about it and may actually enjoy knowing that her key demographic finds her attractive.
Hopefully that puts you at ease, I understand the SJW thing can get a little stressful.
