Hasbro Confirms An Animated Transformers Theatrical Feature Film

under Transformers Movie (Just Movie)

Confirming the previous info, Hasbro confirmed a Transformers Animated Theatrical Feature Film during their annual Investor Day today.

Hasbro owned Boulder Media Studio will produce the movie along with other animated films for My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and Stretch Armstrong.

Hasbro is set to deliver at least one Animated movie each year to the theater. Release date for the Transformers movie was not revealed during the event.

However, based on the comment by the Writers’ Room, the movie will explore the origin myth of the Transformers linking with the Live Action Movie Series.

Update: When inquired more on the Animated Feature Film during the Q&A session, Hasbro confirmed that the movie is based on the current Movieverse. Hasbro will partner with Paramount Pictures via their own Allspark Pictures.

From the comic panel you posted, they all look very similar besides the heads and slight changes in hue.

True, but it's an improvement that can help distinguish who's who.

In TF3 they all looked the same, not that it mattered to me, but I can see your point here.

I haven't read the comics but surely there's a cybertronian form and a protoform mode. The protoform mode is the only one we've seen in the movies.

They can easily make each one unique, like the comics. I would expect a blend between the comic and the movie protoforms designs.

I really don't like the protoform modes. They all look the same. Changing that from being their normal Cybertronian design is one big retcon I wouldn't mind.

They can easily make each one unique, like the comics. I would expect a blend between the comic and the movie protoforms designs.

Highly doubt they will speak cybertronian, but having them speak english wont destroy continuity, because they could easily be speaknig cybertronian, but the dialogue is translated for us to understand what they are saying

Aside from the Bumblebee movie and the monkey king crossover, I'm really anticipating the cybertron animated film.

I hope they use heavy references from the transformers defiance. I love the protoforms and they're spoken lines in the film.

The last time we saw protoforms (is there cybertronian forms and protoforms?) was the short scene in TF3. It was short, but epic.

But who will direct? And given the lack of much continuity, will the protoforms from the TF1 be changed with human faces? I hope not.

The idea of protoforms was a good move in this franchise. It served as a reminder just how alien they are.

  1. It’s a 3D CGI Movie (Character FX used, 3D Rigging used).
  2. Highly detailed facial expressions are involved.
  3. Some of the software used: Maya, xgen, nHair, Ncloth, Qualoth, Marvellous.

wait hold on….So it's not Cgi it's in cartoon format instead?

CGI is a form for animation, so it might be a CGI movie still. Just not sure. :)

Like eagc7 said; It's set on Cybertron. And it's a prequel, so I doubt humans would be there at all. :)

On the visual side. I hope they will use more color in the movie, the brief glimpses of Cybertron we'd seen were really monochromatic. I know when something is metal, the thought that it should be metallic in color is the first thing that comes up, but metal can have different colors: golden, silver, copper, cobalt or chromium. I really don't like the direction they went in the movies, Prime and the games, where Cybertron (and Transformers) needs to be dark gray.
