Not necessarily. Optimus only said HE hadn't heard it since Cybertron. And Ratchet only says it was damaged in battle. Bumblebee could have easily had his voice any time before 2007.
BumblebeeNotOP
Which he won't. He lost his voice back on Cybertron remember

I'm hyped for this movie. I just hope Bumblebee still had an actual fucking voice in the 80's.

Which is why I was stressing so hard that they needed to use Bees movie as a hard reboot and just start over. Can still use the current movie TFs looks ansnor still change up the looks a bit to freshen it up. But start all over with the "girl and her car" and just fucking make it all make sense going forward and have a plan of where it's all going and what the back story is.
This making it all up as you go, one movie at a time isn't going to keep a "universe" going. All of Marvels movies may not be "great" but at least there is continuity and a far reaching story/plot and they make the attempt to tie things together and tie things up when they are done with that part of the plot.

Continuity in these films is barely existent as it is. Bay's films are such a mess that I honestly don't care if this one (and any other films going forward) ignores events from them if it makes for a better story.

So in other words, a superpower?

Oh, you're vastly underestimating the absurd lengths some turbo fans go to to justify, "explain" and defend this shitty writing and every canyon sized plot/continuity hole it creates per each new movie.
Ephland
Yes – this exactly. They dug a hole that I don't think they can get out of.

The whole "search for the Cube" thing is really going to come back to bite them. The Cube was easily detectable to their sensors until the 1930s when the dam was built around it. So Bumblebee came to Earth right after the Cube became difficult to find, and then spent the next seventy years looking for it? And never once crossed paths with a Seeker who probably knew where it was (but didn't care because recovering it wasn't what they were here for)?
Ephland
Well, Bumblebee has been shown during WWII fighting for the Allied Forces, and then 60 years later, he is shown coming out of hiding/returning to Earth to assist in the search for the Cube. Whatever the reason for him to come out of hiding (or return to Earth and leave) during the 80's, it must be significant enough for him to choose to do so, but also has to be insignificant enough for it not to be some huge event/battle that would have drawn attention.
Can it be done? Sure. But after 5 movies of a very shoddy canon, the filmmakers have a massive challenge ahead of them to make this particular and specific story fit into it. And I don't see it making a whole lot of sense.
John TheDestroyer
How is it hard to imagine? I honestly don't understand.
Ephland
I didn't say anything was preventing it from being canon. What I did say was I wasn't sure how/why the movie would fit into the canon. And the reason I said that is because given what we've seen from the existing canon, it's hard to imagine Bumblebee tooling around with a young adult in the 1980's. There are a lot of gaps to fill in his story, and the existing movies don't exact present an easy way to fill that gap.
John TheDestroyer
Whats preventing it from being canon?

Always wondered if there is a reason why Bumblebee always seemed to keep Barricade alive, but killed his other foes? Do you think they were friends once?

I'm more intrigued than excited TBH…

Shall it begin ! I hope this one will be even better than 2007 !
jaws
Wait for it

Only reasons I can think of……fanservice for Bee fans and milking their yellow cash cow.
Ephland
I'm not even sure why/how the Bumblebee movie is in the existing canon.
SunSwipe5
I would like for the Bee movie to be a new start for the post-Bayverse era. As poorly as TLK did at the box office (tho I thought it was one of the better Bayverse films), I would hope that would spur Paramount and Hasbro to take a much different approach to future Transformers movies.
I would love to see the Bee movie not have a damn thing to do with the 5 Bayverse movies. Let it be the starting point for Transformers films, with focus on the Transformers, an actual coherent storyline, Cybertronian backstories, as much focus on other Bots and Cons as there has been on Prime and Bee, fewer human characters, more scenes on Cybertron and less on Earth. Just better stories and films.
