Thanks to the impressive detective work of our very own TFW2005 staff member Black Convoy, we have more information about the upcoming re-release of the Transformers 2007 Leader Optimus Prime figure. He was able to track down the first in-package image of Prime courtesy of Tfcn賽博坦新聞台 on Facebook.
According to the packaging, it appears this re-release will be part of a sub-line called “Transformers Tribute” and features new artwork of Optimus Prime as well as a 10th anniversary sticker.
As we previously reported, this figure is based on the original release of Leader Class Optimus Prime from Transformers 2007, but has additional paint apps and extensive chrome work added to really give Prime a premium feel. It does not however feature the remolded weapon or head from the 2007 Premium Optimus Prime.
Does this figure strike a nostalgic chord with you? Did you miss out on this figure the first time around and are thinking about picking up this improved version? Feel free to sound off in the ongoing discussion on the TFW boards.
Update: The same Facebook user has also shared the back of the box.

Can't wait till they give this treatment to MPM4

I wasn't too thrilled by this figure the first time I owned it…but at that price, I'm willing to give it a second chance.

I want this leader class optimus! Hopefully he will keep the ratchet joints unlike his more beautiful cousin hahaha

All I can see when I look at the TF1 Bee face sculpt is a French mustache and goatee.
ex dtw2003
Except the deco of high Octane Bee is different (worse?) than the OG figure.
Diecast G2
Might be a hard sell in Japan, since the original Takara releases of both the 1976 and 1967 Bees were better.
GAUGE
if only that classic camero mold from the 07 movie was the metallic yellow version with that premium quality deco. I'll never forgot those translucent blue windows on it.

Why would it have electronic voices anyway? Correct if I'm wrong, the most you get with this toy is the horn honking in truck mode. Or revving engine. one of the 2, I thinkbut no voice.

Well considering your from Japan you probably know better then me lol. I also didn't realize, until just now, that it was a online exclusive. That can change things to something I'm not aware of. I've never been on Amazon Japan I actually thought it was a store. Huh.
griffin-of-oz
The Bumblebee Tribute 3-pack is on Amazon Japan as well, with official images that are probably just generic ones, and no box image.

I'll give you Evasion Bumblebee (and Galvatron was pretty good too) but the Dinobots' changes were fairly minimum and for Drift and Crosshairs you had to wait for the Platinum Autobots Unite set to actually get movie-accurate versions… and Evasion Optimus only JUST got a definitive version in the Movie The Best line!

i had to reply to this.
AOE was definitely a huge improvement going from hasbro to takara. Their leader primes from AOE stood out, but even regular releases like Crosshairs, Evasion Prime and Evasion Bee all got big differences. I count having painted black legs as opposed to unpainted yellow legs on the Evasion Bee as a big difference. All their Dinobots were also in metallic colours instead of the dull flat colours. I wouldnt call them tenny tiny changes….

Was it though? You had Stinger, Despensor and Armor Knight Prime, but the majority of the line had just teeny-tiny deco changes if any changes at all unless they were exclusives.
Movie lines in Japan are rarely much different from Hasbro lines. Every movie has one or two stand out exceptions, such as Buster Prime for ROTF, Jetwing Prime for DOTM, Armor Knight Prime for AOE and Calibre Prime for TLK, but the majority of the figures are identical.

Well, Primalxconvoy, that's Wishful Thinking on my part!
(You wouldn't be against it, if it did have 'em though, would you?)
primalxconvoy
Why would it have Peter Cullen's voice in a JAPANESE release, pray tell?
primalxconvoy
I don't agree. The film versions of toys are not so popular, from my observations here. There is usually plenty of stock, or not that much stock to begin with in regular shops. I have a feeling that it was dumped at Amazon Japan because it wasn't wanted by the main retailers.
Now Japan-centric Japanese characters/lines, on the other hand, they sell like hot cakes. Take the core G1 Legends Headmasters, for example…

I love it! I have the mpm-4, ROTF, Movie Best MB-11, movie 1 Ldr (this), movie 1 Premium, all sealed and loose in box. And I STILL want this. I like Takara/TakaraTomy's Optimus Primes they put a lot of heart into them!
Woah really? I have movie 1 in spades! Sealed loose mint in box, cased, doubles triples ect you name it out of all the lines I collect in full thay one is the most heavy! I been saving them for 10 years I been saving them til they worth something substantial
This is gonna sell out before it's in "bargain buckets" aka "bins", in japan it's Optimus Prime it's TakaraTomy, and it looks good. I'm sure it will b4 easy to get for a week.

I have the 2007 Movie Prime, still in decent condition, and aside from the lack of chrome, I think I prefer it's color-deco to this re-issue version. Besides the questions of price & availability, I'd like to know if it will have updated sfx.
Will it have Peter Cullen voice-clips or at least the G1 transformation sound? That would sway me a bit.
