Thanks to user 96megatron, we learn that tf_movie twitter account published a new TV spot for Japan containing a number of new scenes including:
- The last half of Megatron’s transformation
- A short interaction of Chrosshairs with Cogman (Robot Ninja Buttler)
- Bumblebee transformation during the Nazis scene
- More of Steelbane
- Extended fraction of seconds on other known scenes
As the movie approaches, we’re seeing many new clips showing up and this one felt very fresh.
The video is linked after the cut, share your thoughts on the boards!

No it doesn't. the point is time and money. Also, AoE is the 4th film, and I'm sure lots of people will tell you about the lack of "real" transformations in that movie.
How so?
It's not an excuse for editing, it's simple fact. The animators only have so much time and money for animating so they have to cut corners here and there. That's why there is so much shaky cam action in the first movie and why we never seen Optimus transform from robot into truck.
Dotmshockwave
It very simply is the designs which don't allow quality trasnformations. You cannot do much with it so we're just gonna have to accept it. Bumblebee and Hot Rod's transformations are good, and The WW1 tank's. But they have the more og trilogy designs so that's why.

Your reasoning falls apart when we realize the fact that there are quick, quality transformer scenes in the third film, such as the two lockdown transformations, Bumblebee's transformation while crashing into KSI headquarters, Drift's two transformations (KSI headquarters and in the desert), OP's highway transformation (though they did pan away), Bumblebee's transformation when he kicks lockdown, Grimlock's two transformations (though there was a little bit of BSing there) and OP's two evasion mode transformations.
Your reasoning also falls apart when we realize the fact that RotF's budget was only $10 million less than AoE, and RotF actually was literally running out of money because the long forest fight scene was so expensive.
So again, "more TF screentime" is no excuse for lazy editing.
CKPRIME
You seem to be forgetting that there is FAR LESS Transformers screen time in the first one. And far less Transformer characterization in the other movies compared to AoE. They animators can only do so much with the time they have. So you may have to get "lazy" transformations in order to get some Decepticon interactions, sounds like a good trade off to me.
JazzIsBeast
It's cool, it's cool.
But anyways, I guess that's what happens when you have these human like designs; it makes it very difficult to actually make a transformation scene.
It's all really funny, because if you read some of the stuff about the making of the first film, they wanted to stray away from these more human like designs, to keep them "alien like".
Oh, how time flies, lol.
Shark
Alright, alright, my bad! I just assumed they had more time because the Mars teaser trailer came out SUPER early for that movie…I dunno, I wasn't a fan yet back then!
JazzIsBeast
What are you talking about? ILM had 6 months to create the effects in the original movie, JUST LIKE this one. And there are plenty of transformations from the other 3 films that I didn't include.
That's not an excuse for lazy and lackluster transformations.
Shark
yeeeaaah, I don't know what the heck I'm talking about either
ok, fine, it does look a little off…i'm just not bothered by it lol
case closed!

I think Megatron's transformation looks a little weird because there are no parts in his robot form of any jet parts, especially the wings. But for what it is I think it looks great! At least it isn't that transformium crap lol
Moy
Well let's remember that Bay always wants to try new things with each movie. As far as the transformers go anyway

Shark
I don't think there IS an issue. Like, at all. But ok.
Shark
Yes, those are indeed fast transformations–most of which are from a movie that the animators had plenty of time to work on.
Red Goblin
We dont have to discuss anything if you still think the issue is how quick it is.
Shark
I guess you guys weren't fans of Transformers Animated, huh? They did a lot of quick transformations–hell, sometimes they were quicker than how Megs transforms here!
JazzIsBeast
If they're going to do that (just have his jet form magically morph into a robot), why not just have them switch from car to robot in a single frame????
Now that's what you call quick.
Red Goblin
Lenght is not the lazy part, it's execution. It doesn't make sense, he's not going from a jet to robot in a correct manner. Everything just folds together and boom robot. It's bullshit.
CKPRIME
Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch.
"I want super accurate intricately detailed transformations with no cheating but I also want photo realistic robot characters fully interacting with each other and their environments that have more focus on the humans, and I don't care how much money it costs or how much time it takes to animate and render!"
JazzIsBeast
See my post above.
But to add onto that, all they're doing is having him flip in the air and have parts go into his body or magically disappear. Nothing actually Transforms, the vehicle just morphs into his body. If that's the case, why not do it with all the Transformers?
Plus, who says complex Transformations have to be long? Is this long?
or these two?
or this?
or this?
John TheDestroyer
How so? Please explain further. I fail to see how doing something quickly and efficiently is "lazy."
