We’re sharing a quick gallery tonight of a recent release – Transformers Movie The Best Bumblebee. Movie The Best is Takara’s Transformers Movie pre-game show, higher end re-do’s of previous molds celebrating all the movies so far. I thought the Bee looked pretty sharp in promotional pictures and while I know everyone dreads him on the retail shelves, I do like me some Bumblebees. He’s using a deluxe Dark of the Moon mold with more traditional stripe work. Read on to check out some quick thoughts and some highlight pics. You can see the full gallery over in our gallery system – Reflector @ TFW2005.
He’s in stock now and shipping at site sponsor TFSource!
Overall thoughts:
It’s another Bumblebee! It’s clean, mold is sharp. Looks way better than the original with the odd outer stripes. However, it’s not movie accurate per say. There is a lot of yellow plastic going on, not much to break it up. Face paint has a metallic sheen which is sharp. Same paint on the wheels and gun. Inner body is a dark gray plastic. One thing that could have used improvement here is on the body, a light silver wash would have done wonders and truly made it feel like a special release. Overall it’s a sharp piece but I wouldn’t say it’s a must grab for the casual collector. Those without the mold, or who grab all things Bee – worth a pick up. Check some key shots below and hit the gallery for the full set!

I find the second movie Bumblebee to be the best version, looks more accurate to me.

The paint on it isn't good.
The "CAMARO SS" on the sides aren't painted(the original mold had the same issue)
The feet is dull yellow
Stripes are very off and doesn't fit the tone(except you like yellow hoods)
and wrong mold choice.

But they did battle blades for AOE's comparable line already, so it would have been surprising for them to repeat him. Unlike this poor guy, they actually gave him a pretty good paint job. The issue people may have is that they went gold. Personally after buying a couple of the various premium gold repaints of different BB's I've come to the general conclusion I prefer BB in gold anyhow, so it suits me fine. But certainly it's not completely accurate.
But yes, this is a pass. I'm pretty sure I could get a DOTM BB of ebay for quite a bit less and I'm not sure this has any meaningful improvements.

Battle Blade Bee would have been a better choice IMO, the DOTM mold is better than the 07 Bees by far, but not Battle Blade. Mod the hood on it and the doors can swing back behind him vs sticking out on the sides.
So, this is an easy pass on this, I already have my best movie mold of Bee barring what the MP looks like in hand. DOTM molds save for a couple are where I left the movie line behind. I had the Cyberfire Bee, felt like a KO.

I really don't understand the point of this Bee… Less paint than the original and an inaccurate paint job at that.

From what I can see in all the pictures, I'm fairly certain it accordions up on itself and slides horizontal into the back of the torso. You can see parts of the roof and windshield here.View attachment 27689034 That's some pretty genius engineering.
Edit: The new deluxe Bee seems like its taking a few cues from that design, too.View attachment 27689035

I don't know about "Closer together than any other Bee we've gotten", but that first image certainly looks promising in this regard.
The last seems to show the windshield and roof can be stowed out of the way (although I'm quite sure how they managed that). Impressive.

The figure is mistransformed in these images. The backpack folds into the torso, allowing the wings to fold closer together. Here are some pictures I found

Good looking FIGURE o may buy another bumbler figure as tired I am of seeing bumblebee figures it will be much worse with solo bumblebee movie in making
Bumblethumper
It didn't look that way in the images I've seen so far, but mistransformations are to be expected, so I hope you're right.
For the sake of comparison:
A lot of people transform Nitro Bee wrong, but this is how the door wings are supposed to place:
One of the toy's better features commonly neglected in most of the otherwise more screen-accurate Bumblebees.

Yeah it's really easy and like I said makes this figure almost perfect Imo. You should totally do it!
John TheDestroyer
Wow, that looks sweet. I haven't done many customs, but I might just try this one.
smiller0570
Yeah no problem! All you do is unscrew the chest(4 screws) and and cut the hood at the base of the vents. Then cut the screws that connect the doors off from the chest. Hope the photos explain better than I did lol

It does indeed have them closer together than you average Bee mold. Closer together than any other Bee we've gotten.
John TheDestroyer
Woah, I've never seen that dotm bee mod before. Could I see some clearer shots or a link to wherever explaining how its done?
smiller0570
I did the hood mod on my DOTM figure and consider this a really neat toy. Don't get me wrong Battle Blades is really awesome but this is a good one too. Here is a pick of my custom Battle Blades and modded DOTM.

This might be the most dissapointing release of this line. Last night I compared his photos to the DOTM Bee I own, and they're almost exactly the same. The other figures got massive differences in paint, so what happened to this guy? Not worth it. At all.
