Anyone looking for an expertly engineered, highly detailed and articulated killer robot samurai tank to add to their collection, DNA Designs has you covered with the upcoming release of Susanoo (Masterpiece-styled Bludgeon).
We have colored test shot images of a production sample courtesy of BlackLai and T.F.N.D. These images show off Susanoo’s impressive array of weapons in both robot and vehicle mode, as well as the insane level of articulation, some clever engineering and some quite detailed paint apps that really bring the figure to life.
There currently isn’t any preorder or release information available, but from the amount of progress that has been made on this figure and how near completion it appears to be, look for this information to be available soon.
In the meantime, jump over to the discussion thread to let everyone know what you think this figure and whether or not you will be adding it to your collection.

Coming back to this, I'm bummed this was their only step into making a complete original figure. It was super interesting and uses some neat techniques I haven't seen before on any other figures

I have no knowledge, but my feeling on it is that I would be surprised if this got reissued at all, let alone with better materials. DNA Design has overwhelmingly been an upgrade kit company. This was a strange step for them that I do not believe they have repeated (I don't know if any other company is related to them though if they split figures from their upgrades).
Off the top of my head I can't think of any other MP Bludgeons. The only other 3P one I can think of off the top of my head is the Iron Factory stylized legends scale figure.

Does anyone know if they'll reissue this with better materials?
Or does anyone have any news on other MP-scale 3P Bludgeons?

Is this guy getting a reissue? Robot Kingdom has him up for preorder, eta second quarter 2022 (which is basically now).
DNA DESIGN DS-01EX Susanoo (Weather Effect Ver.). Preorder. Available in 2nd Quarter 2022.

He is beautiful, if not a bit floppy.
I was scared to transform mine (one of only a very few bots that I won't transform), and just put him on display, where he stands there and looks amazing.

Got the weathered version yesterday, and damn is he amazing, had some issues transforming him, but once I sheared off those super tiny pegs that go into the sides of his legs in tank mode he transformed pretty smoothly, and gap free, little paint chip on the feet, but being the weathered version, it's tolerable, very happy with him.
BIOMEC
Yeah not for everyone… I knew about what I was getting into before buying, so I knew what to expect, what to do and what to don't do.
He looks GORGEOUS though. I am tempted to get the recolor and a second copy for tank mode.

In short , big nope to me. Price drop to dirt cheap at my local store

I so wanted this for a representation of Bludgeon…I have the tfcc SS Bludgeon but let's be real…that's not him without the skullface so I never took him out of the box. I was so close to ordering the unweathered and read so many issues of QC. Same reasons I have never pulled trigger on FH Minerva and Wheelblade, and probably won't for Nightbeat either…even though I think all would look good next to certain MMC figures. I had planned this figure (shogan warlord) to be a rival to MMC Hexatron (ninja). And then add in Banzitron version and the fansproject Insecticons and be a turf war within the Decepticons…oh well…maybe someday hasbro will release good versions of all 3…er 6. LOL

So I finally cave in and got it…

He is not a toy to play with, but rather a display piece, a beautiful and fragile display piece… Quite happy with him.

Dang, looking back through the pages, it really sucks to see how widespread and random quality control seems to be. I can't find many other good Bludgeon options that don't destroy themselves over time.

Mine is the weathered version and came with the extra face, seems like there was only one batch and the ones that got the weathered treatment were those that werent able to be sold. To me if it is possible to find at a good price the figure is worth it, the only problem that i have is the rigth arm is a little loose after the first transformation.

Ah, I get what you're asking now. Sorry, yeah, I can't remember if the extra face was a pre-order bonus, or was just included with the first run of the non-weathered version. But either way, I don't recall if there was a difference in quality between the versions that came with the extra face and those that didn't.
That being said, since the non-weathered version isn't made anymore, you can only get it on the secondary market anyways. I guess if you find a listing that has the extra face, its from the initial batch. But like I said I can't say for sure if the non-extra face ones were any better or worse than the ones that did come with it. So I don't know if it makes a difference to look for one with the extra face (other than the extra face looks cooler to me)
loof
So that's the one to track down?
gaseous clay
Ah sorry, I was referring to the initial release that came with the bonus faceplate that is more skull like.
loof
By first runs, do we mean a specific batch of figures or the entire normal release?
Actar
Huh, I must have lucked out… Mine's part of the first release and it has seen tens of transformations. He's still holding up great.

It’s a shame really cause the figure looks so good. Had him since day one and have never even bothered to transform or even mess with him. He just stands there looking evil next to his modern gijoe
