I litterly just seen this pic of him and didn't know he was coming down the pipe line. Whoa is all I can say and I can't wait till he comes out. Wow I wonder if the next transformers line will be gerrymandered cause that would be awesome.

Its not a masterpiece. So you got to deal with what is given. The bot mode is just too flimsy The alt mode is bulky. It is what it is. The colors and the type of vehicle do make him Kup. Other then that if they painted this red or brown or black nobody would be immediately saying Kup " in his botmode" And to me that is a bit vital. Also the generations Kup i got is a henkei and pretty damn good. I do not know if this is a great replacement.

Looking at pics of Kup again, I think they definitely meant his bot mode to be IDW Kup, while the alt mode is his original G1 alt mode. Funny as the old Generations toy looked like G1 Kup if he had an earth alt mode but got weapons that IDW G1 Kup has. But then again… most Generations toys often were a mixture of elements from various incarnations of a character. Like Classics Hot Rod incorporating design cues of Energon Rodimus or Generations Blitzwing incorporating features of Animated Blitzwing. Actually I think that's cool. We probably just got a little spoiled with so many slavish G1 updates that we forgot what Generations (and thus Titans Return) was actually supposed to be.

Wether its a hump or a backpack it would have been better if the TR toy had it in my opinion. But i'm still very exited about the figure because i love how G1 the altmode is and i wish Takara would reveal their version of Kup, Hot Rod and Sixshot like yesterday.

for me the issue with TR Kup is more to do with the chest, or more precisely the dangly looking windshield (which might look better with edging paint app such as TR Blurr has)

Imo, both, "Kup never had a G1 toy like hood, or whatever one wishes to call it, in the cartoon," and, "…but this figure looks thin from the side regardless," aren't mutually exclusive comments on TR Kup.
I like and will get him, but agree with both of those comments.
