Thanks to site sponsor RobotKingdom we have our first look at the final production colors of their take on a Masterpiece-styled Generation 1 Slag as well as it’s box art. The version show is the chrome version which is 1 of 2 they have planned with the second to be a metallic version. Some of the accessories this figure will come with are a sword and blaster, along with dual missile launchers, clear plastic covers for his dino-mode head and tail to replicate the look of the original G1 figure, switchable red and black heads as well as alternate facial expressions. What really makes this figure stand out is it’s impressive paint job covering nearly the entire figure! Due to be released soon get your pre-orders in now by placing an order with one of our site sponsors.

I arrived late to the Gigasaur party and have Chrome versions of Gaudenter (Blue), Superator, and Graviter in-hand. Realistically, will we actually see Gigapower reissue Chrome Grassor and Chrome Guttur? The idea of paying $500 in the aftermarket is a bitter pill.

A little battle damage on Dinobots isn't the end of the world to me.
But I love these guys. Extra Dinobots are great to display one in bot mode and one in dino mode.
That's my strategy.
Your collection looks good!!!
I like how he looks with the tail removed.
Best way to display in bot mode IMO.
Waddupdough
sweet! I guess this technique can be used on any weak ratchets then, huh?
Blingotron
Anyone know of a good way to tighten up his "wings" on his back? Mine have been floppy since I got him and IDK where to start.

While i had the legs in pieces, i thought i would see if i could strengthen the outward thigh ratchets. I added 2 pieces of .040" styrene under the spring, which still gives the ratchet tooth enough compression to rotate, but holds tighter. Now the legs can hold a full splits pose.

I have Motortech Silver. I also found that tamiya metallic silver TS-83 is a good match.
lilcarus
i understand that part. but not all silvers are equal. some are too bright, others are kind of dull and some look more like aluminum.
i was asking about the paint you use because it was a really great match for the bot.
Somechump
Just use any silver or metallic silver which is semi gloss/satin finish that says it is suitable for plastics.
lilcarus
do you have a brand name of that rattle can? that silver came out real nice.

These guys take up so much space I'm going to have to rethink my display, I'm currently building another shelf. Thinking I might have to take them off my '85 shelf.

Just a thought for the folks who want the silver parts for their Chrome Grassor but ever thought about spray painting them yourself? Doesn't look difficult and probably 3-5 light coats should do the trick. I could've sworn somewhere in this thread someone did that and looked great.

Yeah the chrome versions pop, but I feel like I’ll be more bothered by the lack of silver thighs.
My current mismatch of weathered, chrome and metallic doesn’t look too bad. The metallic version of Grassor is actually very shiny. The metallic Guttur on the other hand seems a bit dull.
Current market value for the chrome seems wild, missed one for $275 recently but goes all the way up to $450.
It’s just annoying that the QC issues seems to be more isolated to chrome grassor with the paint imperfections and tail breakages. View attachment 29826326

Love the chrome version but still pissed I couldn't get the silver horns, thighs, and gun along with the other flame effects from Gigapower. Messaged them but no damn response.
Waddupdough
definitely would want to keep everything in Chrome for sure so it looks uniformed (even with the chip) What’s the aftermarket price for this now?
Desertf0x9
Keeping the weathered one too for my bot. Probably gonna delegate the chrome one to dino mode.
Well I'd be paying aftermarket prices which would pain me to spend so much on a chrome that came with these paint chips on the red from the factory.
SuperMegaAutobot
in a similar boat (minus the buying opportunity) and considering if i can somehow paint something as close to chrome on the metallic version, but i can’t tell if the “chrome” spray paints will match. I’m doubtful, but not sure what else could be tried.if they are just small spots, the chips might not be noticeable if u tried that.
i’d probably live with that easier than paying the aftermarket price on the chrome though. That’s a no-go.
Fuze9
Send me the weathered one so it doesn't ruin the group line-up.
Desertf0x9
I have a nearly full set of chrome gigapower except for grassor. I have the weathered version atm but now have the opportunity to buy a metallic with the silver thighs or a nib chrome but has paint chips on the red chest from the factory. What would you guys do?
Waddupdough
Looks great
