Thanks to Outrightgeekery.com, we have learned of a teaser from Ernie Petrangelo of N.R.G, who performed the music track Instruments of Destruction for the 1986 Transformers: The Movie.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the film, the artists left this note to the fans:
“Doug Aldrich returns to Transformers Generation One music to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of the cult classic “The Transformers, The Movie”
Doug Aldrich – guitar (Whitesnake, Dio, Dead Daisies, Lion), Mark Boals – vocals (Yngwie J. Malmsteen), and Larry Aberman – drums (Jimmy and Stevie Ray Vaughn ‘Family Style’, David Lee Roth) have gotten together with Ernie “Burns” Petrangelo (N.R.G.) to release a special 30th anniversary edition of “Instruments Of Destruction” from the original “The Transformers, The Movie” soundtrack.
Transformers Generation One fans will remember that Doug’s band Lion was featured on the original soundtrack released in 1986 performing The Transformers theme song.
The completely transformed version of Instruments Of Destruction will be available early to mid September.”
Check out the teaser video, after the jump.

Slight necro to this thread, and a bit of a longshot, but is anyone able to do me a solid? I bought this via CD Baby, and just got the MP3 version at the time. Silly me, because last year CDBaby removed the option for lossless downloads, which is utterly infuriating!! I certainly didn't get an email about it, and it's not what I payed for in the least..
If someone here has a FLAC copy of the track, would they be able to send me a copy? Happy to prove I legally purchased it at the time, but yeah, this sucks!
Of my four purchases on the platform, one was a CD, and one I still have a FLAC copy of. This and another I only had mp3s instead of FLAC.. Rude much?

Both versions of the lyrics are pretty nonsensical, but it's still a cool update.

Here it is on Youtube:
Those are definitely the superior uncensored lyrics.

"Will be available on iTunes and Amazon in the next few days."
Hopefully!
EDIT: Listened to the clip on CDBaby – they're using the uncensored original lyrics most people who only know the song from the movie will be unfamiliar with!

So what happened to "early to mid September"?

But unlike "The Touch" this extended to basically become the unofficial theme song for the Decepticons as a whole while "The Touch" is still mostly a Prime only theme.

Just do a google image search for Ginrai or Super Ginrai. It'll turn up.
Dark Jedi
Is this the unplugged acoustic version?

Word. Using this song for the shuttle attack scene really set the tone for how awesome this movie is. The bad-assed-ness of this song also really reflects the bad-assed-ness of Megatron.

I'm totally in for this. Aldrich rocks, so I can't wait to hear what they have done.

Though IoD was my least favorite song on the '86 soundtrack, I will certainly support this, especially if it's a digital buy/download. The preview sounded sick.

Nice.
I agree, plus it's a better song too.

A year or two ago there was an awesome montage video on youtube to this song (as well as Touch) by someone whose name I can't remember. I think his initials were MW…Michael something. The video was well edited to incorporate the shuttle attack scene as well as other footage from other parts of the movie. I used to listen and watch it all the time while working out then suddenly his videos were nowhere to be found.
If anyone knows what I'm talking about and has relocated that IOD video, please send me a PM.

My body is ready.

"Such heroic nonsense". Until today I got goosebumps whenever I see that scene. Man, Megatron is awesome!
Really want to hear how this new versión will sound.
The Smirker
Great song to be redone, but leave ol' megatrons the touch alone, great song alone.

+1.
