The Instagram account of Hasbro Studios writer Tim Cahill (tim_cahill_too) has posted a VERY interesting tidbit regarding the future of Robots In Disguise (which has been made somewhat unclear and uncertain based on previous reports). The post by Cahill reads:
Spending the afternoon at a recording session of a script Julie and I wrote for Transformers: Robots in Disguise. Recordings are ALWAYS fun! #transformers #transformersrobotsindisguise #hasbrotoys #hasbro #recording #recordingartist #action #animation #bumblebee
Here’s where it gets interesting: Cahill responds to a question posted in the comment section whether this was for season 3, or season 4, answering “s04.” We of course have to treat this as a rumor, but it does provide hope that Robots In Disguise will continue, despite previously reported episode counts, convention interviews, and some fan guesses, etc. If this is indeed for a season 4 of the show, there should be some big surprises ahead!
Here’s where it gets even more interesting: the recording booth image provided, we can see a gentleman that will be a welcomed addition to any Transformers show: Frank Welker. What does this mean for the show?
As mentioned, please treat this as a rumor for now, but we are happy to report this hopeful news for all those wishing to see Robots In Disguise get past season 3 and beyond!

Well it's 2018 now… still nothing.. so i guess rid is officially "rip"!
ILoveDinobot
Ok, that would be awesome.
At first I hated RID after watching the 1st 13 eps, like that's bad considering I was able to sit through all of Energon and watch that with out breaking something. I gave RID another chance and I watched all of season 2 and the way it ended, it's kind of starting to look like an actual continuation of TFP to me, which I would love more of. So, right now I can say I am really looking forward to season 3 and if they keep on this track I would not be adverse to seeing a season 4.

That seems very plausible, but I also think there is a chance that Megatronus could show up again. Is he responsible for the corruption within the council? Maybe Starscream is doing his bidding. Megatron could end up battling with his namesake.

Are we really sure that's Frank Welker in the booth? Pic is super blurry…
Could be Gregg Berger? Wasn't he Stockade in s2?

My guess would be that Shockwave is the one who took over and Starscream's just rotting away in a cell somewhere. Screamer (and possibly Knockout) will probably be found if Cybertron imprisons Optimus.

I don't see people that blame Optimus for a war letting Starscream, who is much worse than him, have some kind of power. It wouldn't make much sense.
My personal guess is that he is the oddly-obscured-and-never-show war prisoner Ratchet brought with him. It feels weird to hide the guy in the pod when they have so many generic models they could've used or just avoided showing the interior of the pod, but instead they went with the shadowy body route.

So with the two new Starscream toys announced/partially revealed, I'm wondering if somehow Starscream found his way into power on Cybertron. I know he got wrecked by Predaking and lost an arm in the comics, but maybe he survived that and got on a shadow council or something. Not a ton of evidence behind it other than he's getting a Hyper Surge toy and I feel like Aligned and IDWverse have been taking notes from each other.
If so I hope this means that Frank Welker is coming back as Megatron to team up with Optimus and hold the revolution they wanted to have when they were young. That'd be a fun arc, I don't need a "good" Megatron, but one that has moved passed the Decepticons and knows how dangerous Starscream is, plus the conversation he'll have with Bumblebee would be amazingly awkward.

Not the first time, all the way back in February staff was talking about starting production on S4

This isn't the first time we've heard about a fourth season. There hasn't been anything to say it'll definitely happen, but this isn't something that's just now appeared out of nowhere.
TCJJ
Last I heard, RID was basically dead, and we were getting a movie to finish it out instead of a full third season. Now there's talk of a fourth season? I'll believe it when I see it.

Excellent and Frank Welker's there.
I'm so asking him this at TFCon Toronto this weekend.
Very true, then again they brought in Steve Blum in for episode and all he did was creature effects, none of his characters spoke.
Quicken2k
That would be cool, but I hope we don't wait too long for Season 3!

Kids who grew up with Samurai Jack are adults now. I know the show already did appeal to adults.
Kids who grew up with Animated may still be in their teens and not ready to revisit their childhood.
The other big difference is there has only been 1 Samurai Jack show. Transformers have had 10 different series in the U.S.. So the tradition of Transformers has been continue the current series or reboot.
I personally would love to see Animated season 4, more than a Robots in Disguise season 3/4. To me RiD 2015 is Animated's little brother it has a lot of the same humor, charm and well rounded characters.
Shizuka
I hope not, I'd rather have a new show entirely that I actually enjoy watching.
rodimuspm
I agree with you, but majority of the people on here are stuck in their G1 ways, they refused to accept changes. And as far as Transformers animated, I REALLY REALLY HATE THE ARTWORK, but I love the storyline, they have some unfinished business with that storyline.
RavageX9
How about a new show using realistic vehicles or animals where people can see these in real life and imagine how they would transform and look like? That's what got me into Transformers in the first place.
Eric
I hate to say it, but he kinda has a point. Samurai Jack's been off the year for years, and now it's coming back for a fifth season on Adult Swim.
However, I wouldn't hold your breath for a season 4 of Animated. At least not on Cartoon Network, given how they don't give a shit about Transformers shows.
janeDoe001
That or, if he dies, let him go out like Beast Wars DinoBot.
RavageX9
But it did continue….Sure some characters got weird like cyclonus but it did continue. I'd be for some shorts of Star Convoy as that was all done in Manga story wasn't told onscreen.

I'm down for more RID if they explore some of the themes they've been hinting at over the first two seasons!
Even if the cartoon remains a Decepticon of the week fun little show I don't care much, I may not watch it but I am down for more Decepticon toys.
As for Frank Welker, he's awesome, and him coming back doesn't necessarily mean anything about Megatron coming back, but if they do bring Megatron back, I hope they don't undo the fantastic character arc he went through Transfromers Prime. Let Megatron be a hermit and have a little peace!
