Thanks to the Transformers Facebook page and Shout! Factory’s Twitter handle, we’ve learned that the 1986 animated film, Transformers: The Movie, will be remastered and released on September 13, 2016! From the Transformers Facebook page:
Some things just get better with age. 30 years later, The Transformers: The Movie is back, and it’s completely remastered. Pick it up this September.
This release celebrates the 30th anniversary of the film and marks the very first time the movie will be released in high definition on Blu-ray! The discussion thread is already lighting up with excitement, share your thoughts as well!

Yeah, it was a five-parter they ran in sequence for a full week and I swear it felt like they ran it again every two weeks or so. I remember being sick of it and felt it was boring. One of the main reasons I haven’t really watched S3 since then.

Yeah, that's because it was released first in a marathon format IIRC. After that, it was ran as the first episodes of season 3…so we got extra doses of it. I don't blame Dille for the episodes although he largely wrote most of it…it had some good ideas. But the presentation was very lacking and felt like it didn't even try to fill the movie's shoes at all.

To this day FFOD ruins Season 3 for me. I remember when it aired they kept rerunning it and it felt like most of Season 3 was FFOD over and over again.

Compared to the TOEI movie, the animation on FFoD was about as good as me doodling with some crayons. I remember as a kid thinking it looked awful even then. I mean, I understood the difference between a movie budget and a TV budget – but FFoD was new levels of crap.

This September, huh? I thought it had already been done years ago…

I'm sure there was a thread a few months back where Flint Dille was gauging interest for that very idea? I'd be fully on board with that. Five Faces of Darkness could've been a great story arc if it wasn't for time/budget restrictions and Akoms toddler level animation.

Oh, my bad! I’ll provide the info when I get a chance.

It's called "Five Faces of Darkness".
I still want Hasbro to re-hire Flint Dille to re-cut the script as a 90 minute film, hire back as many original VAs as possible (movie or TV series if they aren't dead) and have it produced by TOEI in similar animation style as the 1986 movie for an OVA release.

Not at all, but if ever Hasbro decides to start putting G1 to bed, I’d be interested in a miniseries that both bridges the gap between S2 and the movie and serves as a “last ride” for the characters and their VOs.

For some reason I have a notification that you'd quoted my post for this even though it's not my post you've quoted? How peculiar.

If I was able to do it myself, I wouldn’t have bothered asking. The only means I have of watching the movie is on my PS4 and unfortunately, it won’t let me take screenshots when I’m using the media player

If you know the runtime or where it appears, please post, otherwise its takes ages to go frame by frame as scenes skip by very fast in the movie, much faster than the cartoon, some moments are only a frame or two

Anyone else interested in a sequel?

And also a screenshot of the scene with Bumblebee and Spike answering Jazz’s call on Moonbase 2 would nice

Hey would it be possible for you or anyone else to post more images?
Specifically images of Ironhide at the monitor at the start of the movie when his "circuits are sizzling" and Optimus Prime when he's standing in front of Hound and Sunstreaker and as he says "Megatron must be stopped.."
Thanks!

When it was first released, I think the main thing people pointed out was that Hot Rod looks much more pink than he ever has, compared to all the older versions where he looks more red/burgundy. But it wasn't just Hot Rod, and seemed like a contrast or color-balance issue affecting all colors.
I seem to remember a lot of the things that should be dark black, looked much more blue. It was most obvious on stuff like outer space backgrounds and the outlines of characters. I can kind of notice it in some of the pictures you posted.
I think I've only watched it once since I bought it. I should probably watch it again, and see what I think. I may have never noticed it on my own without seeing the criticism online.
Honestly, everything looks pretty great in those examples you posted.

Can you please share source of that information or whatever?
I'm not seeing any BD blue tint here……. (on PC, or when I watch it on my TV)
