More news from Iron Factory, as they’ve revealed final product images from their upcoming five figure set of War Within inspired Dinobots. Continuing Iron Factory’s trend of comic book inspired figures, the Ashura Knights set features designs based on how the Dinobots looked in the second volume of Dreamwave’s “The War Within” comic. Or, as they were referred to in the comic – “The Dynabots”. This set is looking sharp and is due for release from Iron Factory this quarter of the year.

Any recommendations for a flight stand for Swoop from this set? I want to display in vehicle mode next to my DX9 dinos in dinosaur mode.

Lol

Until someone does an MP of these, I ain't selling sh*t.
Sideswipe523
Lol, absolutely
lilcarus
go for it homie get them duckets…

I’d sell these guys off in a heartbeat if I had them. Iron Factory will never make another new Dinobot their size ever again.
If and when that happens, you guys will have really undesirable figures on your hands. Make some bank

Yeah, getting ready to sell mine, maybe I'll put it on eBay for $500 and see what happens, lol
Just seen this post, actually you are not alone, my set was out of the box for like 5 minutes, put them back in and they've been in the closet ever since.
lilcarus
thanks for the post. the mods look pretty good and definitely have some potential.
as far as the trailer for grimlock goes. you should grab that old cyberverse trailer. that thing is perfectly made for prime and grimlock right out of the box.

That kinda feels character-appropriate for these particular characters; the 'primitive cavemen' of the Autobots, imho. I don't necessarily feel it with most of their joints, but a couple of the mods I mentioned earlier are cuts to armor panels restricting their range of motion at this or that point. I recall I cut/pasted Snarl's 'loincloth' armor piece off his torso onto his pelvis so his waist swivel could work unimpeded, for instance.
But as typical with most modern TF toys what articulation limits exist are generally due to the robot's design more than the creative/manufacturing limits of the company, imho. These big bulky fuckers are clumsy in their movements just like those over-built muscleheads that can't scratch their backs are.
FB Pics as requested:
I recall modding only Grimlock, Snarl, and Swoop. Grimlock got a socket on his back to hold the dual pistol I think comes from one of the two 3P Volcanicus upgrade kits I got. Snarl got a bit of his loincloth cut/pasted in place on his pelvis to allow full waist swivel in bot mode. Swoop got his head fin trimmed down to allow the sword to hang straight back as his tail (as seen from above/below, mostly).
Here you can see the holder added to Grimlock's back. I've also got an Animated Prime trailer I was wanting to add to Grimmy to make him a 'semi trailer' and carry all the extra gear they have now due to the upgrade kits I mentioned; but it's fallen by the wayside as so many of its custom brethren have before and after it.
You can see removing the loincloth piece leaves Snarl's 'asshole' exposed as see from above, but it doesn't bug me anywhere near as much as an immobile waist does.
You can also see how Swoop's headfin crosses paths with the sword pommel once the sword is pulled back. Trimming the fin down by 2mm simply doesn't affect his appearance in either mode to me, but the swordtail and gunsword tips acting as the claws makes his flight mode synergize as a proto-pteradon a lot more than without.
A closeup of Snarl's crotch from below, because you pervs get off on that sort of thing. My file-work needs work, or maybe to start using a mag-glass.

That's pretty redundant as that will naturally always happen and stating opinions on the figures is the point of a discussion forum regarding figures. Good on you if you can throw out $500 on anything without a natural, mental comparison to other things figures and beyond that the $500 could be spent on but others (myself included) can not.
Even though it's awesome to be able to sell figures at an increased price (because if that's not the plan then its second hand value doesn't matter, right?) I guess the reward for me comes in having quality representations of the characters that I have an investment into on my shelf. This is why I have 3 and 4 copies of stuff like Fansproject items displayed that I probably couldn't give away. To each their own but I'm not going to sit silent on stating that I feel like these values aren't anywhere near worth their going rates.
Now someone "show me what's what" and give me a grand for this other set. I'll take the L.

I think it's best to just let the market decide what the figures are worth. Taking jabs at the figures saying they have limited articulation or aren't worth the price… While it may be your opinion, if the market is willing to pay more, then unfortunately your opinion is in the minority.
I think it's great to see figures holding or increasing in value. Rewards those that bought in early and supported the 3p companies that have built our hobby.

Going through this thread I can say that a few things comes to mind.
1) I'd really love a set, I freaking love this "pre-dinosaur" take on them.
2) prices are just not within acceptable "play money", they (when available) are just crazy to be selling at this price.
3) Iron Factory should re-release them (with improvements) and make them larger.
4) if not, then another KO company should absolutely do this.
5) If Hasbro could do similar, it would be great… I know that they did a Grimlock as a FoC in the Titanium line (which I haven't gotten/found yet) but not having the rest of the team sucks. BUt they should do a new version inspired by such.
But it's another example of figures that are now "old" and weren't something that I was that into/aware/etc. and it sucks to see so many interesting 3rd party figures ending up "lost" and so hard to obtain, or at reasonable prices.
I have my definitive Dinobots, but would be very open to such a version of them.

For 700$ you better find a way to turn them into Volcanicus lol.

I still have a soft spot for this set. I especially like Sludge's lantern jaw and hammer torrent. They are/were dated, but it's the Dynobots.
When I display these guys I have drag out IF Ultra Magnus, Sunstreaker and Scorponok too.
It still bugs me IF never released a Hot Rod or and few other important characters from the IDW comics.

If it gets there this other set is GONE.
lilcarus
there is a line and hopefully when that line is hit it ends up at 700…

These were a collaboration with another company if I remember right, and were so heavily delayed that their own stuff eclipsed it on release because they had gotten so much better at things in the time these were in development. IF EX-16 Pink Assassin (Arcee) came out before these, and these were numbered 6-10!
What you're saying about drawing a line under their worth on the secondary market is only based on how you view the figures, and the market doesn't care about that. To date they're still the only iterations of the Dynobots first seen in Dreamwave's War Within series, those designs were hugely popular with the fandom and these toys are long gone from retail. If people will pay it then it doesn't matter how the product holds up, that's the asking price.

Although this set is dated in terms of transformation and articulation, I do see their appeal in terms of stylization.
However, if you are going to fork up the late tax on this set, you better know beforehand your display setup for them. For example, legends scale figures displays so much better with city bots (Metroplex, Scorponok etc) than they do by themselves. Otherwise, you might find it hard to justify the spending versus your display real estate presence.
