The Kre-O Transformers line might be on the backburner right now, with no new releases planned, but for Kre-O collectors, we can report what might possibly be the next best thing. The Kre-O Microchangers Wave 1 and 2 have been reissued, and with the new issue comes a host of alterations to the base figures. These alterations include changes to the moldings of the parts, along with changes to the tampographed decos.
The new issue of the Microchangers, found in Family Dollar and Dollar General, use the new 2015 Kreon body style, which is completely different to the body used on the original release of these figures. Changers include featuring raised hands like a Lego Minifigure, shorter height, flat arm ends, shorter arms, shorter legs, and maybe even smaller heads. In other words, the figures seem slightly smaller overall.
If you missed these guys originally, this will be a great way to pick them up. If you’re a completest, this will probably be a nightmare – since none of the new blind bags have ways to identify the contents. There’s some shots comparing the two versions along with more information, courtesy of M Sipher on Twitter.

Oh, Gods, yes! Please let this be true! I'd rather have Kreons than actual transformers at this stage to be honest.
There's so many sets and scenes from all the shows that would be awesome in Kre-o format. I'm hoping for Dino-Crane from one of the RID episodes.
Now if only the Dollar Generals around me had the waves… I'd never have any money.

Call it jumping to conclusions but I think Hasbro's planning on bringing Kre-O back. Why else would they go through the trouble of reissuing the Series 1 Microchanger Kreons with updated parts and Tampographs? If I'm right it seems like they're soft launching them in Dollar Stores.

If anyone's interested I've got a full set of wave 2 available in my sales thread, only looking for cost.

I just want a revamp Bludgeon. I cannot find wave 1 anywhere. All my stores carry is revamp wave 2 or the reissue of wave 4 with no codes on them. I don't care about any of the others from revamp waves 1 or 2.
TransfanG1
Would anyone be down to split a case of these? If they are like the previous cases, there's 2 of each character to a box. If I can find a complete box I'd like to sell the second set. Now that they aren't marked anymore we can't just get the ones we want.
DJW107PRIME
They do that for SDCC. I got 84 & 85 hoping for 86 this year.
Chaos Muffin
Just a fantasy , but wish they'd package them in super
tiny G1 style boxes with character art. About the size of those little star wars
titanium black vehicles.
Or do a 1984 autobots boxset/decepticon boxset,
and then so on for each year and series.

The changes to the design of the Kreons do bug me, though the changes in the printing are pretty awesome.
griffn29
They are neat looking designs.
MegaDolrailer
All these changes but Warpath still has a mouth?

As a LEGO builder myself. I can understand the reason for the change. LEGO has been known to update parts and in some cases redesign an element from scratch. Even with the mini figures.

Man, those differences…argh.
At least we got a good run of stuff from beginning to AOE for us to mess around with.
Changing the compatibility….so unwise.

Somebody (who's name escapes me) went and did a comparison between old and new Kreons, pointing out such things as the size of the ball joints being changed and how the torso now has a post that pegs into the now-hollow "spine". Basically the only compatible parts now are the heads.
Lessee if I can find the post…..
EDIT: here we go, thanks Soresuk

I also know that the recent reissues of wave 4 differ from their original releases but only in quality of plastic, plastic color, and tampo neatness. I will post pics comparing my two Hot Rod kreons if I have some time tonight.
netkid
Wait, are you confirming that the new parts are indeed incompatible with the old parts?
The only revamp I'm gonna buy is Bludgeon because I'm curious to see if they changed his skull face.
iacon45
Wish the reissues had the codes back on them identifying which figure is inside. Only one I want from wave 2 is Groove. The smaller scale would actually work well with the other Kreon Protectobots.

I was going to get all huffy, but then I realised they likely won't turn up here anyway, so… *Shrugs*

Man, it feels like Kre-O's stuck in some weird toy-limbo. Not totally dead, not really alive, taking a step back for every step forward they make…
I'd have LOVED to pick up some of the Wave 2 Kreons since way back when Target seemingly only ever got a single shipment, IF they used the original molds. The new parts are incompatible with the old ones, so can't use them for customs; the added face lines really don't look right compared to the plain old ones; and now they're all noticeably shorter, which would bug the hell out of me. Blech.

Un…I got my Kreon Airachnid in April.

What an odd change.
Kre-O's been backburnered (well, in the US, at least), so going to the trouble of creating new, smaller parts for these is an interesting choice.
