Hasbro have sent us official images of the cool Platinum Edition Autobot Heroes set. A five-figure set celebrating the 30th anniversary of Transformers the Movie, this set gives us shiny new decos of Ultra Magnus, Kup, Blurr, Arcee, and Springer, all of whom are reuses of their previous Generations toys.
Also in this post is some cool artwork of the SDCC Titan Force set – though that’s all we have for you from this set for now.

First of all I love Stormer. Second, don't lick paint it's bad for you.
:
They're awesome but I can't afford or justify that price.

Any ideas if and when this set will show up on target.com?

As someone who unfortunately missed out on all of these except for Springer, this is a Must-Buy for me, mainly for Mags+Minimus and Arcee but also for Kup. Already have TR Blurr who meshes better with this set in terms of design, but I certainly don't mind having an idw-looking earth mode blurr off somewhere else on the shelf. I just wish we could get a price point on this, also that I could somehow guarantee that any target near me would get this in.
SG Roadbuster
I think hasbro missed a chance to drive up demand for this set. they could have redecoed Minimus Ambus as Daniel Witwicky. and it would make more sense for the boxset's theme.
harrismonkey
I would consider leaving him in the box. If someday you decide to resell it, your box set will be worth a whole lot less missing a figure.
Autobot Jack
I want this set soon much I haven't got any of them except Blurr (the titans return version) I neeeeeeed everyone else. I will sell this version of Blurr

The other characters are still intended to be updated versions of those designs. Blurr is intended to be a completely unique design that shares nothing but color.
Once you eliminate any resemblance to the characters physical design, other than color, the mold you use to represent the character is arbitrary, whether it's a car that was simply sold with the name Blurr on the package, or a female robot jet.
Sigmus Prime
It doesn't matter whether I "liked" your example or not – it was a nonsensical example.
Your second example makes more sense, yes. Not complete sense, considering BW Megatron and G1 Megatron are from completely different continuities, whilst G1 Blurr and IDW Blurr are in the same continuity; but more sense than Windblade.
BTW – and people have already mentioned this – none of the figures in this set aside from perhaps Arcee were based off of their original G1 models. Blurr certainly isn't alone in being IDW-inspired, and this trend of using a not-so-similar mold to depict a certain continuity's character has been done numerous times in the past. It's not a new or surprising development.

I disagree. This isn't an IDW set. This mold looks nothing like the character in the movie in alt or robot mode. Just because they use this design for the character in a completely separate comic doesn't make it relevant here.
You don't like the Windblade example? Fine. It's the equivalent of creating an '86 Movie Decepticon set, and using Beast Wars Megatron as Megatron. Sure, it's a character named Megatron but does it reflect the character in this movie that the set is for? Of course not.

Surprised to see a leader class figure in this set, the AOE Autobots set would've been far more accurate if they'd included the leader Optimus instead of the voyager (even though that's a better mould).
The inclusion of Hot Road would've made this a perfect set, though I get why he isn't part of it.
Smashs
Dig the paint changes, but already have all of them.
Fantastic set, though.
Sigmus Prime
And by mentioning remolding or replacing him at all, you made the assumption that I cared. I hadn't said anything about that prior, so the only reason you'd have for bringing it up would be you assuming I meant that, right? That's what I thought you were implying, anyway.
Magnus was a dude within a dude before IDW, so…
And his design isn't really compromised by Minimus's inclusion. The entire cab would become his chest/center of torso no matter what, given that's how he's always been (sort of). If you removed Minimus from the equation, it wouldn't really change anything.
Unless the tilde meant you were being sarcastic…?

Heck yeah ~ I truly hate Minimus, from his name to his concept to to the way I feel he destroys Magnus's character, to the way his interaction needlessly compromises the Leader Magnus's design, but if they'd Repainted him as Spike/Daniel in this set (a tiny remold would sell it even better, but doesn't seem on the table for these releases) I'd have thought, Dang! That's really clever.
GizmoTron
I never claimed you expected anything, just that changing Minimus or flat out replacing him was unlikely since they aren't making changes to any of the molds and therefore not odd. And I have my doubts that people would have honestly been happier if Hasbro had done something like painted it orange and called him Wheelie, or that those that those that hate Minimus would suddenly have been any more inclined to buy this set simply because they can pretend the toy is somebody it's not.
unicronic
It's a great set for anyone who missed earlier figures. Blurr and Springer are great figures even if they do have superior mold uses out there.

Movie and third season fans must be excited! This is a really cool set. and I would love to own that Arcee some day.
SPLIT LIP
Same. I already have three of those figures, but it's so cool.
If only there was a decent Rodimus in it.
