Hasbro’s display of Generations at Toy Fair 2016 was more than just Titans Return. On show as well were:
- Combiner Wars Victorion boxset
- Platinum Edition Clash at the Planet of Junk set
- Platinum Edition Cyclonus, Scourge, & Sweeps set
The Sweeps set is cool, with translucent plastic on all three figures to represent the movie’s famous reformatting scene, and the use of a head similar to Botcon Devcon’s for the Sweep. The Planet of Junk set comes with a new repaint of the Classics Deluxe Hot Rod mold along with repaints of Generations Junkions Wreck-Gar and Junkheap. The fan-built combiner, Victorion is also shown in combined mode as well as both robot and vehicle modes for all the individual bots. Victorion also seems to be sporting new, more muted and dusty-looking color scheme. Check out the pics after the jump!

It's Kup's gun for whatever reason.

In considering the platinum boxset for Cyclonus and Scourge I recently reviewed Cyclonus. I thought that it might also be a fitting time to look at Scourge. Considering the clear plastic on this mold, let's look back at Generations versus UN-21. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmhkgwwoKvk

I like those two three pack Platinum sets, the Decepticon one most of all but that might be because I like clear plastic on Transformers. These, just like Fortress Maximus, are going on my Christmas list.
Is that a new gun for Cyclonus though?

Ugh, I kind of want a few of the alternate head versions to go with one of the Scourge headed versions. If I can get them at a reasonable enough price, I will probably get two sets and just keep the second Scourge-headed one in jet mode in the display.

When do we get our CW cartoon?

I keep wondering if Hasbro has plans to just release their own Devcon at some point?
I doubt it but I mean The Classics Seekers were both BotCon and Retail figures….but that was a shitstorm in its own right.
Pretty much what I was thinking.
Gotta sell that new concept and line first and foremost.
Knightsword
Grimlock, Soundwave, and either Prowl or Bluestreak were all at toyfare.
GizmoTron
They did, but that was two years ago when Hasbro's Toy Fair theme was everything Age of Extinction and Dinobot related. Most years they don't reveal any store exclusives like MPs until Botcon/SDCC season.

Of course that Rodimus has the clear windshield unlike the RtS version…grumble grumble…not worth buying him again, though, even if it's essentially an overpriced Junkion Army Builder set.
The Cyclonus/Sweeps set, in contrast, looks really good. Though beyond the clear plastic, Cyclonus' paint apps are identical to the RtS version.

How much is the scourge/cyclonus set?

The only Platinum I've ever felt worth the money was the YOTH Prime, because it was a MP, I was just starting the new MP collection, had the Datsuns, needed a Prime, and MP-10 / Hasbro Prime was $300+ so, $120 was a damn deal for a MP Prime.
Then HA reissues MP Prime 12 months later… But, I don't regret YOTH because I really like it, and have two versions of the MP-10 mold both under $150.
Forgot the Predaking reissue, I don't think his price was a bad one…

passing on the sweep set, I don't like the reformatted look. I may get on ebay just scrapheap. and I still don't plan on getting victorion
Rodimus Prime
Rodimus actually looks better in that photo.

Victorrian – will be bought, no complaints, would have loved futuristic accents or retooling for vehicles for differentiation of their mold brethren
Cyclonus/Scourge/Sweep set – will likely pass, price is a bit much for what it is, likely to be upgrading my Scourge/Sweeps to the TR model, set would've been better IMO if it were three Scourge figures with one Scourge head and three Sweep heads for the option of having either three Sweeps displayed or Scourge and two Sweeps instead
Hot Rod/Wreck-Gar/Scrapheap set – another good looking set, glad to see the Scrapheap head, is it worth the price of admission though, more Junkions isn't a bad thing but again an actual troopbuilder set would've been awesome, three Junkions with four or five noggins and some extra weaponry and I for one would be okay with asking price, even two new heads with Hot Rod included would have my full attention
Computron – where for art thou

"CW Sky Lynx red" is the perfect shade. It's kind of a pale red. (Not pink!). Would go perfect with "pre-Toyfair" Victorion turquoise.

Hasbro did bring a Toys 'R' Us exclusive (even had the sticker on it already) Masterpiece Grimlock to Toyfair before, seemingly just to show off. I'm not sure.

If I'm not mistaken Toyfair is more of an investor's meeting right? Partly for that reason we had that mistransformed Devastator and the bald guy and stuff.
It makes sense that they'd just show off a bunch of products accross the various lines and class sizes; perhaps they showed lots of stuff from waves one and two to show they've got lots of product ready to go.
Botcon is where we get all the most major reveals. That's where the fans are who know the characters so revealing this stuff then makes the most sense. I'm confident that they'll reveal a Kickback there, two or three MPs, and all the combiner giftsets, possibly even some Trypticon news.

Where is that optimus and megatron set?
RodimusZero
That's a good point… grrr. 6 more weeks
I'm hoping we get either Predaking or Abominus at a bare minimum…
I'm not a Bruticus fan, and I have Devastator and Menasor, but I need another 'Con combiner to balance out all my 'Bots…

Toy Fair always seems to be Hasbro's chosen place to show off Titan figures like Fort Max since that's where it can get the most attention from the press, while Botcon will be a much better place to reveal Computron and Liokaiser to the more dedicated fan base.
