My Entertainment World has recently listed the currently untitled Transformers 5 on its web site. While not many details about the Summer 2017 film are known at this point in time, there is an interesting tidbit revealed nonetheless. The site mentions a filming start date of May 2016, which is in line with the beginning of production for the previous Transformers films.
Where filming will begin is unknown at this point, although director Michael Bay recently mentioned that production would return to Chicago at some point.

By 'rush' you mean in production for over a year anda half by the time princioal photography begins?
More hype? Surely you jest.

I think they're gonna have to change up the typical TF release date this time around because 2017 has Wonder Woman, Despicable Me 3, Marvel's Spider-Man and Apes 3, taking up TF's typical release window. All movies which will generate more hype than Transformers 5.

Should have checked here before I posted the exact same thing on News & Rumors. Anyways, I'm sure they're ready to begin. Casting doesn't take that long and I'm sure they'll have a release date announced in the next few weeks. Can't wait for the journey to begin!
Also, was it already confirmed that Art Marcum and Matt Halloway would be writing it? I know Akiva Goldsman was going to but then they made him head of the G.I Joe writers group. Knowing Art and Matt though, the script will be fantastic!

Oh, c'mon.
It's pretty clearly aiming for premiere within a few days of next year's 4th of July, just like all the others.
SO FUCKING EXCITED.
XD

Still no release date?

I was just guessing on what I knew of previous series, as well as Earth is not the only planet with water.
After all, I was thinking of; Maybe a crashed ship in the oceans of Quintessa (if Quints are The Creators, and the fact we have had a crashed ship in their oceans before).
So no, it's not that obvious. But true, it most likely is Earth. Just keeping options open.

There is still so much source material that the BayFormers movies can pull from like the Nemesis being under water. These types of G1 story elements give me hope. The just needs to be more of it. With all the complaints people have had with the previous films, it is still pretty easy to do a course correction and do a really good TF movie in my mind without retconing or explaining away past events that many might not be fans of.
As for immediate improvements, they should use Josh Nizzi's Next Gen G1 mashup concept designs for the look of the Bots, and get OP back to being a altruistic hero and not a straight homicidal maniac. He can still kill Cons though… I am a fan of that. Just not after they have already surrendered. This bullpen of Hollywood heavy weight writers creating the new shared TF cinematic universe has to have some G1ers in it. Hopefully, they can have an influence on the franchise moving forward.

The crashed ship sounds like homage to the G1 Decipticon base, which is new to the series.
It is not another planet or anything else. It is pretty obvious based on previous series.

I'm trying to remain positive about TF5, but realities such as you've just highlighted sure do knock my confidence.

I think I said this back when TF4 was being filmed, but I think a battle out on a snowy plain or something would be awesome. Or maybe in the mountains. I dunno…SOMEWHERE with a lot of snow and ice. It would make the Transformers' colors really pop.
EagleTron
I EagleTron grant my best blessings to everyone and everything involved with making this next Transformers film.
Unicrons Herald
Now I haven't seen the video OP posted, but like I mentioned in another thread; The scene under water could represent another planet. Sure, it's most likely Earth, but as Earth is not the only planet with water, it could be an alien one. We'll see.
Galvatross
I agree. Or it could even be a part of the Knightship since parts of it were detachable.
I still think it would be cool if Galvatron ends up controlling it sooner or later. He could arm it with greater weapons, force its surviving crew and prisoners to be soldiers; there could even be former troops of his imprisoned in it. He could use it to gather any remaining Decepticons hiding on distant worlds.
Dotmshockwave
My hope is the crashed ship is actually the knightship from AOE and not ANOTHER "long lost, artifact, mcguffin etc..". Thats my greatest hope, or maybe it is a crashed warship from dotm in lake michigan. Who knows.

Chicago: The city of TRANSFORMERS
Just underwater-not sea: I dream that it's lake Baikal
Galvatross
If it's big battles we are talking about, then I agree fully. However, I wouldn't mind some scenes showing what happens to KSI headquarters.
Also, it's likely at least some Chicago shooting is a substitute for another city.
Finally, I'd love to see more scenes take place in rural or wilderness areas. I love the rural Texas setting for the first part of AOE.
Also, no more Near Eastern desert ruin battles like in TF 07 and ROTF. I'd love for future films to have a Mediterranean setting, high mountain battles, jungles, or high latitude wilderness (think Canada, Scandinavia, or Siberia).
Well Bay said ILM was showing him renders of a crashed underwater ship.
Burnout00012
I agree, like maybe China, or Egypt, or out on the ocean, or maybe the moon… oh wait.
