Have all of them, except Drift as I am gutted to miss out on him. Nickel & The Pet, I am not too sure as they are quite expensive.

Saw it in a local toy store at $75. Is the price fair enough? Can't find a lot of reference price points.

I believe that is close to retail for him, so it’s not a bad price at all

yes, this figure is absolutely worth picking up as an original take on a beast machines character

This is from Beast Machines, not IDW. You’re looking for the Whirl version – this is Obsidian.

If you really want to buy amazing MMC stuff, stick with their hyper accurate figures:

Tarn, Kaon, Nickel & The Pet, Drift (and Deadlock), Wing, etc. All very very amazing figures.

obsidian is also in idw, granted this figure isnt accurate to that design, but that doesnt mean its not a good figure

So I've been thinking about it, and I plan to get this guy pretty soon. I'm especially excited because this will be my first ever third party figure.

I'd also love to get the matching Strika figure (Titanica right?) But I can't find it in stock anywhere.

Regardless this is a great figure and I very much look forward to getting it.

Yeah, she seems to be sold out nearly everywhere (I need her too so I've been keeping an eye from time to time).

I was pretty underwhelmed by the fact that MMC Turben didn't look like the IDW Whirl we all know, love and want, and just like most people I suspect this was because they needed to reuse the mould in some way and that was clearly Oberon, an updated version of Beast Machines Obsidian. I honestly couldn't care less about the character but since I already got MMC Titanika (Based on Strika, a character I actually do care) and managed to find Oberon at a pretty reasonable price, I decided to bite the bullet and I was pleasently surprised.

The thing that first shocked me was the wonderful use of colours. Neither videos nor photos do justice to this paintjob, the different combination of tones is much more striking in person, the metallic red especially pops and gives this figure a much more majestic presence. The toy itself is also pretty nifty, it has a really solid feel and tons and I mean, TONS of articulation, the figure is really posable and brings a lot of playability.

I have a few issues with it though and that's mostly about his accessories. I don't really like the little missile pods since they seem out of place and are really noticeable in a bad way. Turben came with a cool sword so why couldn't they also give Oberon a more interesting weapon?

And here he is with his partner in crime. I'm actually surprised about how they're better looking figures than their more popular mould mates (Roadbuster and Whirl respectively). As I said, I really dig this new purchase and is actually tempting me to get Turben now despite that he doesn't look at all like MTMTE Whirl (and is a much blander-looking figure colour-wise to be honest).

Also, I wish that MMC created some extra weapons for these two, especially Titanika who is missing some sort of melee weapon (a big mace would be perfect).

I got mine yesterday… and I love it! Strika is on the way as well.

He’s easy to transform. He’s possible. He’s fun. He just looks great..

Now I REALLY want a Jetstorm, Tankor, and Thrust from MMC!

In the mean time at least the deluxe jet drone and mega tankor look good with them, throw in a clobber and overboard as diagnostic drones and it’s a good setup
