Via NonSoloHobby on Facebook, we have a look at an upcoming licensed Generation 1 Soundwave statue. Made by Imaginarium Art, this statue features Soundwave on a base of wrecked machinery, with his minions around him. The statue comes with alternate hand and arm parts for two different posing display options – the shoulder cannon can also adjust to better suit the pose. There is currently no information on release or other details – but for now, check out the initial image of the statue and see what you make of this new release.

Still lovely statue, but not at the price of 1K

There is no doubt that this statue looks better, and I definitely don't fall into the "why buy non-tf'ing tfs" camp. I guess my point was either make it supremely more bad-ass or don't try. The MP line is really good, and at ~100 bucks I got Hasbrowave and all of his cassettes. I bet this thing will be 500+. I'm certainly willing to pay more for higher quality, but it needs to be significantly better to command the price points these statues try to.

Looks nice, but I'm out of shelf space

On the one hand, I really agree with this perspective. On the other, however, there really is nothing quite like finding the most complicated transforming Transformer you can lay your hands on and going for it.
Without instructions.

I want to see someone with MP-13 TRY to get it into this pose, and then I'll see for myself whether this statue is worth the premium, for something all my nerd friends are going to take one look at and say, "Awesome! Can I transform him?"
…and I'll just look down at the floor, in shame.

So it is just glue the MP13 to a stand… correct me if I am wrong.

i like it
THE-TRANSFORMER
I'll never understand the "does not transform" argument.
I bet you have more than a few Transformers in your collection, on display that you haven't transformed in over a year. I know I find a good pose for something and then pretty much don't touch it again.
Surely it's the character you are attached to and if there is a good representation of that character, transforming or not, you're invested?
Composite Ghost
In the second pic it looks like hes standing on a giant dildo with a face.

Why can't it transform? Because it's a statue.

Beautiful.

Even nice looking figures are still visibly figures–it's easy to tell plastic (or a mix of die cast and plastic) apart from something made of resin or porcelain at a glance. Statues and busts are also much more likely to be bottom heavy and not get knocked over as easily if you've got them on display in a common area.
IMO, statues work well for display on a mantle, end table, etc. in a way figures don't (better suited to a display case). Statues say "look but don't touch" while figures say to some "pick me up and mess with me"–not what I want random house guests doing with an MP.
