TFC Toys have also updated their Weibo feed with images of their unofficial version of Skalor. The third figure in their unofficial take on the Seacons to be revealed thus far, these images show that their “Bigbite” is every bit the monster from the deep that the original Skalor was designed to be. Check out the images of him attached to this post.

I usually go for the acrylics and an airbrush, but for Snaptrap's head/hands I used Dupli-color black vinyl and fabric dye spray. If you're doing a single color and it's one they have available, I highly recommend it. Excellent adhesion and coverage. I often use their silver as a base coat before painting with other paints and have been very happy with the results.

Tbh I didn't mask mine off but this is generally good advice.
I'm fortunate to have have a steady enough hand and a few years of warhammer 40k under my belt.
Decent brush, decent acrylic paint (personally used tamiya for these) and build up the paint in multiple thin layers vs trying to cover the piece in one go.
I think to get a decent coverage on Snaptrap's head and cover the translucent properly took about 6 thin-ish layers of paint

I don’t have this set, but it’s one that I’m really thinking about going in on. I had all of the Seacons as a kid, so the nostalgia connection is there. Especially with a nice custom paint job!
David Hingtgen
Yup, painting the eyes is easy. It's only if you want to work on a mouthplate/faceplate etc that you need to carefully mask.
StoneCold Skywarp
Thanks ☺
The eyes are a seperate piece. All attached to the translucent back half of the heads. Makes painting them super easy and it's actually beenficial to paint over the edges so you don't have to be too neat with it!

Looks really good, like how the characters are supposed to be! One question, do the eye pieces come apart from all of the heads or are they moulded in?

The way the page displays for me, "Column A" is where this made a huge difference. I did the same thing with my Iron Shell.

I might as well re-post some of mine, from back in the day:

I never decided how to do Seawing's, but it's very bland as-is and I still want to paint it somehow, some day.

Got a loosie Deathclaw at TFCon for $40

The OG black for Snaptrap's head, very nice!

Finally, someone who knows how to paint!
Those look really good my dude, they look natural and not "custom painted". Very well done!
StoneCold Skywarp
As others in this thread have I took to repainting the eyes/heads on these to make them a bit more as I'd prefer them to be.

A little over two weeks to Canada. It might've been even faster but it spent quite a few days in customs. Had me nervous for a while, but it eventually was released without issue.
rusticmeadows
How long did it end up taking?
Motor_Master
I agree they're big and bulky and yet it make such a nice presentation when you slide that insert out and remove the top cover.

Congrats! You're gonna have a LOT of fun… (and possibly some miniscule blood loss)
Vrillon77
Lol yeah. I mean, the foam in the figure boxes is great for the protection, but the amount they used seems a bit like overkill
David Hingtgen
The boxes are needlessly huge, it's a (small) complaint I've had since day 1—even just stuffed into the closet, the full set of 6 takes up a lot of space, and it chould be like half that.
Vrillon77
It's the feast day of Saint Piran and a heavy rain started out of nowhere today when this got delivered. Coincidences? I think not!
Came in from BBB. Shipping box a little dinged up, but the figure boxes are all perfect. Threw in a Voyager seeker to show how massive the box is
