Coming in thanks to iTunes, we’ve received a three page preview for the upcoming IDW Transformers Redemption comic book! This book will follow the Dinobots as they try to find their way in the aftermath of the Cybertronian war. Written by John Barber with art by Livio Ramondelli, this title is set to release October 28th.
INTO THE WILD! The DINOBOTS engaged in some of the most brutal missions of the war—which made them damaged goods in the peace. Now, a mission to change the face of CYBERTRON offers a chance for something they never imagined… redemption.

"Hums the melody of RMB's Redemption", only 8 days to go (hopefully)
Very exited about this one, i'm hoping for lots of flashback.
Wich is where i think Livio shines (my two cents) i think he's perfect for the dark tone of series like Autocracy, Monstrocity etc that take place at the beginning of the war.

Is Blurr's mantra of "Serenity now" a Seinfeld reference, or did the phrase already exist as some kind of relaxation technique before there was a sitcom episode about it?
Autovolt 127
I could not agree with you more.
Optimus should never have come back in Dark Cybertron, he should stayed away from Cybertron as Orion Pax.
SG Roadbuster
most likely. but I was mainly being Hyperbolic. but at the same time, I'd rather see Pat Lee's dull surprise face, robo squats, janky proportions, and puffiness than look at pages Ramondelli has vomited on with his pencil.
Abrogate
I'm usually at the forefront of Ramondelli trashing, but this is honestly not bad. it still looks all weird and stuff but the characters arent as stiff as he usually draws them and the colors are easier to make out.
are you out of your mind

I have to agree. There are good things about Camiens but the problem is they as a whole society wise are very rigid and structured. Having Conjunx Amica at the age 10 vorns or be ostracized. Even having breaking of that friendship is considered worthy shunning. Far to loyal to the rock they are on that circles a white dwarf. The easiest solution is to move Caminus or making him to giant space ship and find a new planet to live off.

I love Livio's art, especially when paired with Metzen and Dale's writing. I'm glad IDW tries to include a variety of artistic styles in their comics. Some I like better than others, but the mix keeps things fresh.
Haywired
Camien's own religious leader says things like "every good soul should believe in Primus and the Guiding Hand". You could even have Nova Prime in place of Optimus and they'd follow unquestionigly no matter what, because "the Prime said so"…
They're not poor and innocent at all, they're a bunch of narrow-minded religious nutjobs who deserve a good shake up. Can't say I feel any sympathy or sorry for them.
Negativedark
Yeah, poor naive Camians… No actual experience with Primes. Well Optimus should fix that.
It's funny how pretty damn near no-one who's been on Cybertron at the same time as a Prime thinks highly of them. Even most of the Autobots aren't going to say Optimus is that perfect.

Wow, a lot of Livio bashing in this thread..
I personally liked his art style for Punishment, and it looks like the tone of the story so far matches his art style. It'll be interesting to see how this issue progresses.

I skipped most of combiner wars because his crappy art made it unreadable (plus the bad story) and I'll be skipping this.

The Dinobots have a history in the comics of being seen on the outer rims of the faction's morality what with Grimlock going Decepticon in one 'verse and his reign of terror in another. It's not hard for me to buy that they've committed serious crimes that have not been fully addressed yet. IDW Grimlock seemed to operate under a "We can do literally anything we want as long as we bring in a big reward to cash-in on easy forgiveness" mindset during the war. Prowl may have looked the other way for a time because he's willing to commit war crimes to achieve victory. Their actions eventually came to the Prime's attention because web see a flashblack of him telling Grimlock that if he continued he and his team would be considered renegades. There could be more to the story than originally thought. Minimus Ambus does not know everything that goes on at high command afterall(neither does Optimus but that's another story). Grimlock was also put into Garrus-9, after volunteering to accept the blame for his other teammates. He left behind mechs who could be bitter and angry after their leader's imprisonment, the events of All Hail Megatron, and LSOTW(For all they know the Decepticon uprising killed Grimlock. I think they'd be looking for him if they thought he was only missing). The Dynobots have had enough time to do something heinous in the interim. This doesn't bodes well for good behavior from the team. It could be their little dirt nap resulted in them avoiding more serious repercussions because by the point they returned the Autobots had bigger things to worry about and there was some truth in Grimlock's attitudes towards faction ethics.
None of this would make Optimus' statement acceptable. You do not tell someone that their allies should have killed them if they aren't able to change.
What also bothered me about the reveal at the end of Transformers Punishment was that there was was one instance where Optimus admitted to lying in the actual story… then tells Windblade he never lies. What.
Autovolt 127
Seems alright.
again I've said this numerous times. Livio is always like the one guy available for everything and gets everything done on time and thus IDW continues to use him.
you don't have to like his artwork but you should at least understand IDW's reasoning.
Yeah IDW Optimus is shit, he's a goddamn hypocrite and honestly just doesn't belong in the current era that we're in right now. He's a wartime leader and nothing else.
Nocturne
I'm still not a fan of Livio but I will happily admit that this is probably some of the best work I've seen for him.
And I've never been mad about the Dinobots so I'll probably wait until this comes down in price before I buy it.
Coffee
Yeah, I'm not buying any more Livio work. I'm just done with him.
That said this looks interesting enough. I like the way Snarl's being depicted like his bio suggests, and Slug being a guy who thinks he's the life of the party in actuality being the one everyone hates is good too. Swoop might be Australian now, which is… okay.
Looks like a fine comic, save for the art.
ZeroiaSD
Yea, Livio is pretty good when he's given time to work.
Being the 'artist capable of cranking stuff out in 1/4th the time' is a double-edged sword, really.
edgs2099
You might have had a point if we were talking about a bad artist.
C16
That's not saying much. A bad artist shouldn't be approved of just because his art is less terrible than usual.
GizmoTron
It was, but when Windblade calls Optimus out that he said he never lies, he does confirm that there is truth in what he said about the Dinobots.
misternewuzer
Pretty sure that was Swoop… And, I dunno? I was wondering the same. I know he's been more expressive than the rest of the bunch.
