Prime 1 Studio have showed artwork at an exhibition which they are attending in Japan, which seems to give some direction to their future plans. Moving away from the movie series as it appears on the screen, they are moving toward doing statues based on concept artwork. The first entries in this series appear to be by Josh Nizzi, who did some work on the series including designing Long Haul for Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. His concepts of Optimus Prime and Megatron blend in some retro elements with the established movie style.

Interesting that they are going for two styles of 'G1 inspired reboot'. Not sure if it's the best idea, though, especially since I can imagine people much rather going for these.
FACEBOX
Saw these earlier.
I prefer these much more than the AOE versons

Man, EVERYthing this company does is stellar.
The "still" museum-style poses not being everyone's cup of tea notwithstanding (Though that doesn't bug me), their statues are always incredible.
And I cannot F-ing wait to see this line.

OPTIMUS looks like the current optimus but with different alt mode…..
This is how megatron was supposed to be in the first place…but Galvatron design is very excellent we only need an arm canon….anyway a transformable toy=100%buy……300$ statue =no,not for me…..

Calling 3P.
Transformable figures based on these required.

Optimus look great.. cant say the same with Megatron.. Megatron look horrible..

To those wondering why we get statues it is because transformable figures can't convey all the details of of some designs without sacrifices. What's more accurate, DOTM Leader class Ironhide or his statue? People can't see the point in these things because often they're incapable of seeing past themselves. For those who want to appreciate every detail there are these statues similar to how young kids have 1-step changers. Not everything is catered to you. I expected adults to know and understand this.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me it's not movie "hate" so much as, "I would have liked this more." Though I will concede I disliked the movies intensely. I'm still glad they exist.
And I actually really dig these designs. Like, not just, "I find them more bearable," but, I actually LIKE these. A lot.
Dachande
It's interesting to see so much movie hate bubble to the surface with just some concept renders that really aren't even movie-related aside from who made them.
Oh well. Business as usual.
Personally, I like most of the movie designs but would really enjoy seeing these ideas used.
AnonymousDwell
Yes, but to me they look like monster movie alien, insect-like, undefined, faceless… *takes deep breath* … Om. Om. Om.
Okay I'm good. Not going there, I got all that out years ago lol.
To each their own.
Just saying I like this take on the aesthetic better personally.

It seems like final designs will be somewhat different to the artwork.
Well, they are aliens.
AnonymousDwell
If the movie designs were something closer to this, I'd have found them far more palatable personally. I know people love them, and that's cool. I just don't like them and find them indistinct. More alien than clearly definable robot. All the usual criticisms.
These actually look reminiscent of the original characters, and are identifiable to me as such without as much of a sense of recoil or, "Why does it look like THAT?" as the movie designs provoke in me.
Afterburner
What an idiotic idea to do G1 but then take it way too far into the movie style and essentially just do slighty more G1 accurate movie styled figures. Pointless.
Of course TransFormers that are statues are pretty pointless anyway.
WheelWave140
Okay, sorry.
What the hell does any of this mean?
OT: Love love LOOOOOOOOOVE these designs. They're juicy-juice. Megatron looks terrifying, Optimus looks sick. Only complaint is that Megs is looking a little too bulky, he's got kind of a movie SS vibe going on. That and his face is a little too reminiscent of the Movie design, i;e nonsense metal slammed together in a vaguely face shaped design.

These are interesting G1/Bay-verse hybrids, and would have been awesome in the movies (maybe they're a hint at the next movie designs), but calling them "G1-inspired" would have been more accurate. If they were made into actual transformable figures, I might buy them.
As it is, they're a curious, yet unnecessary, set of oddities I don't really need.

I've always been on the fence about this, but there is a definite aesthetic vs mechanics preference in community members.
The interesting technical design – and price point – considerations invariably mean concessions have to be made in the look and feel of the piece.
it's a personal preference thing ofc, and i'm sure a great many fans don't care all that much at all, but for me the MP line has gone a long way towards filling that gap between pure display pieces for grownups who should know better, and toys with appeal beyond their plastics. Which in turn has made statues less appealing – for me at least.
they are very nice though. as the guys upthread mentioned, g1/bayverse mashup. they look killer, hopefully the next reboot will head down this road.

I feel the same….looks nice but unnecessary for Transformers
dragon
that is true but isnt same as someone buy leader class megatron toy to put on shelf guess its differnt by person to person
only car parts i see are body of car have this look in live action format would be rather boring and transfromer fans would have jem movie situation on there hands not making over billion at box office twice, not be movie to have crashed computer company computers to make cgi bots and backgrounds, thanks to movie series transformers would not be as popular as they where back then and now we may not hae got combiner wars because of movies being succesful as they are now,.
thundercats had fade away perfer transformers do same if fans made bots with blocky ness no realitsic look to them
at least movie desgins look more realist not boring blocky cartoon stuff you see in g1 with human faces out of all alien movies i saw not one alien had human face and human body unless it was trying blending in with humans which would species
Darkshift
Age of Extinction could have been so much better with these designs (especially Megatron's), not shitty round metal sheets that are somehow car parts
