Voodoo Robots Salus – Colored Prototype Images

Voodoo Robots has posted new images of their upcoming Masterpiece-Style Ratchet aka Salus to their Facebook page, and those images have made their way to the boards! We haven’t heard from Voodoo Robots much since TFCon earlier this summer so this is definitely a nice surprise. The images posted showcase Salus in both robot mode and vehicle mode as well as a size comparison with MP-10 Optimus Prime. He isn’t however, shown with either of his guns.

Salus is available for pre-order for approximately $120 and is slated for release in September. Share your thoughts on this upcoming take on the Autobots’ oldest medic and be sure to check out the images we’ve mirrored after the jump!

I feel your pain. I have the red Voodoo “Ironhide”, and he’s a flimsy POS as well…especially the backpack and lower legs. I like a lot about the way he looks, but he definitely does not feel good. The only 3P Ironhides I am happy with are the legends scale guys.

Yeah, he’s gonna stay in the display until TT does one..

After much back and forth, I finally got Black Ironhide aka Guard… Everyone can thank me now because I’m sure TT will announce the official one soon… I’ve got to say.. this guy is a flimsy POS. For the life of me, I can’t get the hood to tab into the crotch. It just kinda sits there. His chest is also very loosely sitting there. Nothing is really holding it in place. And then the backpack… I can’t find any way to get it to tan anywhere… it just sits there. I’m very upset I got this now… and half the time his torso sits crooked and I can’t figure out how to fix it… ugh.. at least I have Guard for my Diaclone display, at least… sigh..

If you don’t like the look of the official MPs these are great choices. They don’t hold together super solidly in bot mode but they do look good from pretty much every angle and they have some cool toy detailing.

I agree. There's a certain "je ne sais quoi" about these figures that the OMP's don't have. Less like a cartoon marionette and more of a "robot soldier" from another world.

Salus (60 Bucks!) and Animus on sale at ToyDojo. I just got Animus and despite the shortcomings that people have mentioned, it's a great figure and I just love looking at it. Such a great presence. I'm waiting on Salus which in my opinion will be a definite upgrade from my TFC Medic.

Really pissed at myself for missing out on the black diaclone version, such a good mold and now I'm on a diaclone kick.

It was just the one set of the pair, sorry to say. Supposed to arrive on Thursday. I may post pics once they're here.

I just received Animus/Ironhide yesterday. Lucked out and got him for $40 off eBay, and I can definitely say he was worth it. I would've paid twice that amount for him. Which is why I went ahead and purchased Salus/Ratchet off ToyDojo.

I'm not sure if they changed or updated the hip design, but mine doesn't suffer from the issue of the wide a-frame stance. My hips seem to be friction joints, not ratchets, capable of standing with any width of leg spread. Curious to see if Salus is the same way.

I typically prefer the slavish toon style bots, such as MP-44 or TE-01, MP-47, or FT-10 Phoenix. I understand the appeal of the more realistic carbot like MP-10, but growing up watching Transformers, I always wanted the exact bot I saw on the screen.

That being said, I absolutely LOVE Animus, despite it being more carbot and less slavishly too. He stands proudly between MP47 and TE01 on my shelf. I think in many ways he's more toon-accurate than the official TT Ironhide MP figure, and IMO is the beat MP sized Ironhide for anyone's G1 collection. At least until Fanstoys makes one, which would probably be $250-$300. But for the price, Animus is absolutely brilliant.

This thread has inspired me. Just went on eBay and picked up the pair. I've never been thrilled with the way the Takara MP Ironhide & Ratchet looked, and these guys seem like they'll do the job nicely.

Gah! I can't seem to find it on Youtube anymore…not even in my history! Basically the suggestion is to cut the little ratchet pieces off the hips. I didn't want to do a permanent mod, so I made a set of hips via Shapeways so I could 3D print them. They work great. It does require a bit of disassembly and custom screws, to get the best results if I recall correctly. Let me know if you need more info…but there are at least some breadcrumbs…I'll try to take pics at some point soon.

Kicking myself for not getting an Animus back in the day. I did at least get a Salus and did the hip mod.

View attachment 29141649 Big fan of this mold. MPs with hip kits are better but this one still deserves love. A-stance ratchets are wide and the plastic is a little thin but overall I like it!
