Via Alucard Lee on Weibo, we have a look at the long-rumored Platinum Edition Dinobots set. First mentioned back at the Australian Toy Fair 2015 in March, it looks like those hoping for a Trypticon-style shock reissue set are in for a Trypticon-sized disappointment.
The leaked image from Alucard Lee shows a set very similar to the SDCC 2014 exclusive Dinobots set, with the differences this time being that the set comes in a regular Platinum edition box, and includes all five Dinobots. Essentially, what you are getting in this set are the Generation 1 inspired decos of Age of Extinction Grimlock, Snarl, Slug, Strafe, and Slog. There’s a convenience in that you are getting them all in the same box, and there might be some deco tweaks (we’re not seeing the gold on Snarl), but ultimately, this is the same set many of us will already have got last year.

So is this online exclusive?

On the fence about this set. I don't have any figures from these molds and I really want Dinobots for my Classics/Generations.

I'm a fan of most of these molds, and the paint job/new heads look great. That being said, I just can't get into Grimlock's dino mode and Slug's bot mode. I was this close to buying them during that sale, but those two held me back.
I actually need a Slag for my AoE Dinobots. FoC Grimlock is my stand-in for AoE Grimlock, but I don't know what to use for Slag.

Yup totally agree. A totally fine set but not worth that big price tag.

Got mine this week. It's a great set that I would never buy at full price.

You know while the set may not make a good G1 Dinobot set,I think they can actually work somewhat as Beast Machines/Transtech versions of the Dinobots since the bodies and head styles could work enough to fit into the BM/Transtech universe.

I was actually considering a trip to Windsor to grab these. Now ordering made easy!

oh wow, I realize there wasnt an update on this thread. These were actually part of a black friday deal in canada where TRU was selling them at 75$US (100$ cdn) a set. That was a awesome deal.

Did you take those photos? They put a lot of Hasbro (and even Takara) stock photos to shame.
Fallout

wearelegion69
You'd buy it for 150?
Fallout

I found the set in Kingston, but I couldn't reason with myself to spend 200$ for this set, as I have already the movie version. If that 25% off applied, it was an instant buy…
PandaGash
Yeah, that's pretty expensive but judging from the prices they put the Coneheads and Trypticon at here in the UK, not surprising. I'm loving my set.
Robogeek28
Ouch.
marvel b

They're up on TRU Canada's website:
Transformers – Platinum Edition – Dinobots Figure Pack – Hasbro – Toys"R"Us
TRU must have been smoking all the crack when they put the price tag on these guys. And it must have been some goooooood stuff.

They're out in Canada now, as a Toys"R"Us exclusive:
