It’s been teased that Megatron may not be the last boss of this game.
There’s lots of easter eggs for fans, and fun stuff like throwing Decepticons around.
Some Grimlock footage was also shown – veteran Generation 1 voice actor Gregg Berger is providing the voice.
On to the toy news! Generation 2 Aerialbots were shown, along with their individual modes. They come with both a collector card and also a poster.
Generation 2 Menasor is confirmed. All five Stunticons are faithful to the unreleased set.
Both Menasor and Superion are set for a release in early 2016.
Next up is Victorion and her limbs.
Her torso is Pyra Magna, a Hot Spot remold.
The helicopters (Alpha Bravo remold) are Stormclash and Skyburst
The two race cars are Jumpstream, a Breakdown remold, and Dustup, who is the Dead End remold.
The set is rounded out with Legends Groove remold, Rust Dust.
Sold as a set with a poster and card. Out “sometime next year release”
Next up, a new combiner, named Betatron.
He is formed by a Voyager class Scattorshot, a heavy remold of Silverbolt. No word on individual Technobots – he’s intended to combine with existing toys.
Next up are the store exclusives.
Toys R Us is getting Masterpiece Bluestreak (available now) and Masterpiece Starscream in October.
Target is getting the Platinum edition Blaster and Perceptor set and Trypticon. Both of those coming to Target in August.
A Q&A session followed:
No plans for Dinobots Combiner
No plans for Predaking, or beast combiners in general.
Cannot conform MP-28 is Hound
The reason for the differences between Hasbro and Takara’s Devastators was basically cost.
The reason for not doing Prowlastator was because Hasbro wanted to give fans a G1 version of Devastator.
No plans to make toys of the Decepticon Justice Division.

I all fairness, BotCon absolutely should be the "real" show. It's the OFFICIAL TF CONVENTION for god's sake, not to mention how much it costs to go these days and all the risk and bs involved from the companies running it. People certainly deserve the best there because they are more than paying for it. They got the balance of new reveals right, except I would have switched the exclusives information for the 2016 Combiner Wars product. Face it, Titan Wars, whatever it is, is a long way off considering we know Combiner Wars goes at least 2 waves into 2016. Showing wave 2 of 2016 product does not constitute showing nothing, that's rather far ahead.
That said, this simply feels like a let down because everything is a repaint or remold of everything else, so much so people are creating spreadsheets just to make sense of it all. And exclusive wise, we at least knew all of that product was coming, so there weren't any new reveals, just clarification. Which is specifically why they should communicate better in the first place, so they can have more oomph at their own shows rather than revealing things we already expect but they've simply ignored.
Also, RiD 2 is apparently going nowhere worth reporting. That doesn't help their showing.

Every word written here is the damn TRUTH.

Well, I've taken the time to really process everything that happened during SDCC so far and I'm so incredibly disappointed that it is actually depressing me a bit.
Why? Because I'm coming to terms with the fact that I'm a grown man getting upset over toys and realizing that's batshit crazy.
However, since I'm still in the midst of all of that and I still love Transformers, I might as well share my thoughts.
Victorion? Sounded great on paper, looked great in the hand drawn art. What we're actually receiving is just awful. It's like a Christmas tree and The Joker had a hatefuck and unfortunately spawned this monstrosity. It's not only ugly in color scheme, but ugly in design as well. It's without a doubt one of the ugliest combiners I've ever seen and I've seen shitty Chinese KO combiners that made ZERO sense. And the fans chose this color scheme. Dafuq, people?
G2 Superion? Fantastic. It was beautiful and I loved the box art. There's a part of me that says I should buy it, but after buying all seven figures in the current Superion lineup (the G1 classics, Alpha Bravo and Powerglide), I can't throw another $100.00+ into the fire at 35, just so I can make 13 year old me happy once again. It's a great thought, but no. If I hadn't bought the original? I'd be all over it like a plague.
G2 Menasor? Finally, further proof that Hasbro did something right beyond G2 Superion. We've waited decades for this to happen and it's finally happening and I'm sure there are quite a few people that are just jumping up and down for joy. It's well deserved, too, they've waited forever.)
Betatron? (I refuse to call that travesty Computron) I thought Hasbro hit their lowest depths when they unveiled Victorion, I was wrong. A barely remolded Silverbolt is what passes for Scattershot now? And not only that, but he has to share Prime's limbs and doesn't get the rest of his team? Who in the hell thought that was good planning? Oh, and it's now 100% proof that Hasbro's being cheap and looking for the easy way out. There's no excuse for this one and you all know it. It's bull and it's Hasbro's forte. Takara to the rescue on this one. Oh, and that Superion head being reused? Now, it should be 100% clear to everyone…Hasbro's cheap, they cut corners, they cut quality, they go for the easiest out and it's disgusting. What a horrible shame.
And I was surprised to see no Groove there, so I'd say it's safe to fully believe that Hasbro will NOT be releasing Groove and that we will have to start importing the Takara versions. That sucks for us, it really does. I shouldn't have to pay $145-160.00 for a combiner that should've been sitting on the pegs at my local store, not some e-store 6,000 miles away. Ridiculous.
I was incredibly disappointed to see that the Hasbro cases were nothing but previously unveiled items and that the showcase was nothing but remolds and repaints. How ridiculous. Not even GOOD repaints and remolds, at that! Plus, I hear that they confirmed there will be NO CW Predaking, is that true? If so, that's just awful and ridiculous. So glad I bought the UT Warlord now. So, so very glad.
First, Hasbro had to compete with the 3rd parties, and they were losing. They decided to come to us with Combiner Wars and we ate it up like candy and it was good, no doubt.
Now, Hasbro's competing with their own partner. They're just looking at us and saying "Here's a magical bank account for Takara Tomy. All you have to do is empty your wallets and fill it. We don't want it, give it to them!" Seriously. CW would give Hasbro the ability to basically print money, and tons of it.
And I just don't get it. It's like they're about to win the gold and at the last second, they hand the medal back and go "What's that? Oh no, I don't want that." It's stupid and it'll never make sense to me.
Hasbro apologists will come forward and white knight and say "Well, they had to make concessions so we could even have these, be grateful!" First of all, save it. You know by now that Hasbro's just bullshitting each and everyone of us and doesn't care.
I know they're using a limited number of molds and that they have to milk 'em for all they're worth, I get it, I really do. This, however, is ridiculous. It's getting to the point where all the do is change the color of the plastic and paint and figure that'll do. We allowed that to happen and we need to put our foot down and stop it.
Takara's sitting over there going "Wow… It's like… You know what? Open another bank account, fanboys are losing their shit and we're about to make some M O N E Y, people!" while Hasbro's all like "YoU LyKE tH!$ dunt YOU?!?! IT's WHAT YOU ASKED US FOR! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Victorion I get, we asked for it, we got it, we're dumb.
G2 versions I absolutely get, those are just a fantastic idea.
Computron no longer exists I will never understand. There are so many ways to reconfigure these existing molds and make something happen.
The tooling is done on Groove, Yuki tweeted a hint about Blast Off coming and I'm sure they'll do right by Computron…why can't Hasbro use those molds and make money? Because they don't want to spend the money in the first place. Cheap, so damned cheap it's disgusting.
Watch, the only way we'll get a proper Blast Off and Groove is when they do Bruticus and Defensor in G2 color schemes. We'll still have to import if we want the G1 colors.
Ridiculous, as well as stupid and cheap planning. I've heard of getting your money's worth, but this is a joke. I've never seen someone squeeze that much out of a penny before. It'd be impressive if it wasn't so insulting.
Congratulations, Hasbro, you just gave away a TON of business. You idiots.

Wasn't Shogo Hausi going to be at SDCC? Wonder if he had a QnA or something… Is that it for TF news at SDCC?
Ravage101
Can I just say, this is a very lack luster SDCC presentation of transformer figures.
Repaints remolds, nothing on the Titan Wars. Nothing really exciting at all. I remember last year when Arcee and Brainstorm were announced…that was a huge deal. Plus we saw the beginnings of Combiner wars (the next line). How come nothing on the line Titan wars? BotCon was the real show this year. SDCC seems more like just moving stuff from BotCon 2015…nothing new here :/

You have a point, but Hasbro does sometimes do things differently from what fans expect, even suddenly killing off a toyline that seems incomplete to collectors. A few years ago, there were rumours of Animated Constructicons and a Supreme-class Animated Omega Supreme that never happened.
Even with Combiner Wars, it's Takara who came up with a Groove limb that Hasbro apparently never had plans for. There are still people waiting for Sweep/Scourge limbs for Galvatronus.
I like to think that Hasbro do have plans for the Technobots, but they aren't ready yet. However, I wouldn't be surprised if we only end up with CW Scattershot.
Randomus
Oh my God! We might not get all the Technobots next year! WHAT IF WE NEVER GET THEM? THE WORLD IS BURNING AROUND ME! We've got to do something! Maybe if we post enough nerdrage, everything will be okay!
Come on dude. 20 of the last 21 years didn't feature a Computron release, and the sun still rose each morning. Save the world-burning metaphor for real problems. Also, it never hurts to be polite.

Hopefully sooner (anytime further on in this run of CW) or later we see some semblance of a Technobot team, maybe even from Hasbro. I try to be patiently optimistic when it comes to wondering if certain characters may get new figures, and try to find some logic that just might compliment the rationale of the people bringing us these toys. However one big pause for thought to me in this case is that we might not get Technobots soon, since Terrorcons are supposedly not on the way.
Still, patience is key. Hasbro's 'no plans for…' approach gets applied to at least one or two things the fans ask for at SDCC most years. Two years ago they said it about combiners, then last year they announced Combiner Wars with a comprehensive look at the earliest waves. Maybe in another year or two they'll double back and make the Decepticon beast teams, or any others they may desire. Maybe they won't. It will be interesting to see if that CW animation will have any interactivity with further products. Perhaps another reason that the remaining combiner teams (at least from Western G1) haven't been done is because they're all from after the '86 movie, and making one when the appropriate 30th anniversary rolls around might be the catalyst for some other teams to get made too.
Did anyone else find it suspiciously specific that they said there were no plans for combining Dinobots? I wonder if this was or wasn't meant to rule out the possibility of non-combining Dinobots sometime within the next couple of years. We'll see.
peaces
yep. keep quiet and do nothing. wait and see. wait politely while the world around you burns. and just maybe hasbro will pleasantly surprise you if you're lucky.
Matt_M
I think the only thing I'm disappointed about is that we aren't getting any more info on Titan Wars or whatever it was they teased at Botcon.
Autovolt 127
That sums it up right.
Honestly again let's just wait and see…let's wait till NYCC. I have a feeling they'll properly reveal them.Their is a reason why it's because it's being called Betatron.
again patience is a virtue…this fandom should learn by now.
Snake_eyes1975
I'm just going to toss this out there.
Most of the stuff I see I don't care for. What if they decided to put the repaints and less desirable stuff at the end of the line where distribution will choke them to the discounters?
It could be the 1st sign of hasbro learning…
Honestly… Besides Bruticus.. I dont see really anything at this sdcc that is neat, that wasn't shown already. All the reveals for me are junk.
Edgewise
Combiner head is very perplexing… maybe I could see not remolding it, if it was at least a different color than Superion's head. Why is it not molded/painted some shade of red?
As it is, just looks like red shirt Superion(so an homage to the the Energon combiner that got killed immediately?)… I'll probably buy him for robot and vehicle mode, but not getting combined.
I do think adding in a robot mode would require remolding basically everything, so it'd just be a new mold. But Possible re-uses of Sky Lynx?
1.) "Battle Core" Sky Lynx repaint
2.) New character that's a Decepticon version of Sky Lynx
3.) Trypticon with a shuttle mode instead of city/base mode
4.) Shuttle=Thunder Arrow, Dragon=beast mode of Deathsaurus, Combiner mode=Deathsaurus's robot mode.
Randomus
Hasbro has blown it big time. What the hell are they thinking by only releasing ONE member of one of my favorite teams as a kid? Don't they have any idea what their fans want? Look at Victorion: they don't do what we want even when they do what we want!
Whatever, your loss, Hasbro. I'm sure Takara will make Detour, Road Hugger and Hyperdrive for me.
Mirage232
So no Kickback? No Dinobot reissues? No Combiner Wars beast bots? No 20th anniversary Beast Wars? No Titan Wars? No more stateside Masterpiece figures? I mean, Masterpiece Starscream is nice I suppose for those who couldn't get the Takara version, (even if his Decepticon insignias are upside down and don't match Thundercrackers, ugh), but where is Sideswipe, Wheeljack or, well, anyone else?
Combiner Wars seems to be on the way out, judging by all the repaints. I mean, do we really need TWO Alpha Bravo molds on Victorian? And I don't think I even need to mention "Betatron". Seriously, if Hasbro has no intention of making any of the animal based combiners, (or even Computron for that matter) they should just end this particular line now. Most people have no desire to keep owning the same molds over and over again, and Hasbro should know this. Overall, this was a very underwhelming show, and you know something is wrong when the most exciting things presented are G1 reissues and G2 repaints.
MagnusPrimal
Well… it seems as if I'll be saving money on Transformers for at least part of 2016.
Hasbro will still get my money. The Marvel Legends reveals are looking pretty good.
adambman
Yeah, I might still get this Scattershot, to be fair, Hasbro had to remold some big parts to make it passable, particularly in alt mode, but that's about as far as it goes. We've probably both thought that if the Scattershot retooling was as extensive as Cyclonus, they would have hit it out of the park, and I say that as someone who was in principle quite open to the idea of this mold sharing because of similarities between Superion's torso and Computron's.
The first thing I noticed was the 'near enough is good enough' approach to the combiner head, which is fine given that between the toy and animation model, Computron's face varied remarkably. Scattershot's new head is great, but it's a slight shame that the retooling for that mode goes no further; his chest vents alone could have made it look more complete but a couple of blue squares don't ruin this completely, I suppose. What I would have liked to have seen is new shoulders – which could have been the perfect opportunity to not only enhance the robot mode but just maybe help the block folded up under the alt-mode look more like a functioning part of it. And finally a change which – granted – even Cyclonus didn't get, a new gun! There was a time in the Classics/Generations line when head and weapon retools were as much as we'd expect, but they were par for the course, where applicable. Of course a new gun in this case would have needed to interact with robot and combiner modes. However that, and possibly an altered combiner head, were convenient to leave by the wayside in light of the decision to stop at Betatron, instead of committing to Computron. Anyway I should probably stop here and make a separate post about how CW seems to be concluding.
unicronic
If it is, it has been a very disappointing SDCC.
I'm not saying that like some of the nitpickers say, I'm frequently optimistic and see the good over the bad in new releases.
That being the severe lack of anything new is very disheartening.

Is sdcc over for transformer reveals?
