Our favorite TakaraTomy toy designer Hisashi Yuki has shared more images of TAV21 Optimus Prime through Twitter. With these new images he shows off the car carrier feature of this new Optimus figure that is due to release in July. You can see that in vehicle mode, the roof of the trailer section opens up and reveals space to fit a single warrior class figure in alternate mode. Several figures can also ride in the trailer section in robot mode as well for more variety of play.
Mr. Yuki comments that it is quite unusual to see an integrated trailer design for the Autobot Commander in Transformers history. The first example of this design that comes to mind would be Star Convoy from “Transformers: Return of Convoy” (which you can check out in our resources section through this link).
Staff edit: Now with images showing 5mm ports available on the figure.
Have a look at Mr. Yuki’s photos below, and let us know what you think on the boards.

If this guy was leader class sized I'd definitely get it. Its been so long since we've gotten a leader class Optimus Prime that Isn't based off the movies.
That Guy
He means the time spent on the character in the show. Not the physical size.
RMStunticon
That Star Convoy would have proportionally accurate shins compared to the original!
dCon
YES he IS that big. He's at least twice the height of any bot in the show. So he's basically anime accurate. I mean this is Takara were talking about doing their own figure so they will make it close as accurate ad possible
Autovolt 127
Now that would be awesome.

Around about 2010 when Heatwave came out, Hasbro started on the Aligned Continuity project which resulted in an overarching mythos, used for the backstory of Transformers Prime.
In order to better control this mythos, Hasbro asked Fun Publications to not use Nexus Prime.
However, that was the previous creative team of Aaron Archer and Rik Alvarez. The current team may not see things the same way. And with Combiner Wars, they could in theory quite easily do a new Nexus Prime.
In any event, I think at some point we're going to see a Star Convoy version of this Optimus Prime. Full on reshell and release it under Legends.

hummmmmmmm…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
looks cool ^^
That Guy
What do you mean?
IgnikaMarcus
Maybe, if not for the fact that FunPub can't use him anymore.

Thanks for the follow-ups.
more changes than I thought…. which I like ^^/
Leaning towards TAV-33…
Big Prime collector even if I don't follow all the series that he is in.
Raiyuki
He's not that big in the show. Honestly puttimg Optimus in the first wave already spoiled that he'd return, and theynway he returned basically gave him yet another body change. Bee is still the bigger focus as a character but there 's still a sense of "let's sell more Optimus Prime toys" with the show.
OriginalFire
I think the TAV-33 looks way cooler than the non upagraded version so I'll be getting that
ZapRowsdower
Stiltimus Prime!
For a moment, I was actually proud a TF cartoon could abandon Prime… QUICK HASBRO!!! GRAB THAT SAFETY OPTIMUS LINE!!! Don't wanna risk making a different character more popular!
Godimus Prime is a false idol! Don't worship he!
But back on topic: this guy looks more and more awkward. His legs are too long (stilts?) and the big size makes the lack of fine details obvious. He just looks like he was done on the cheap, and while I might like him for a modest price, he's going to be too expensive for what you get, imo. But I don't watch the show (come on, Netflix! when are you getting it?! ), so maybe he's supposed to be Devy big and towering over the cast like a giant? If so, kudos on screen accuracy?
BattleUpSaber
Hope to see the colour pics of the Clash/TAV 33 ver soon as he's the one I'm really interested in.
Basilisk
That size is perfect I was worried he'd be a regular Voyager but nah he's old Leader Sized makes him the perfect base for a Star Convoy figure (Takara do it you know you want to)

Tav-21 is how Optimus appeared in RID season one when training with the primes up until the season finale when he was vastly upgraded, the toy includes all weapons for the warrior class autobots out so far (at least the ones that either currently or will presumable at some point in the future use decepticon hunter weapons).
Tav-33 represents prime's upgraded form as of the season finale, this is the form he actually appears in on earth, and is likely how he will look for the remainder of the show as he is now at least a semi-permanent cast member. Tav-33 has a remolded chest, head, shins, forearms, and shoulders at least, and appears to include both the prime decepticon hunter, and two undeployed regular decepticon hunters.

I thought the same too… maybe my new Masterpiece Star Convoy Robot mode…
dCon
Yea that and color deco change to look like the end of the season 1 Prime from the toon. He's black and white blue and red. Instead of the traditional colors
….. back on subject. I am.looking forward to this guy a lot. Wish I could say the same for sideswipe.
Thundershot
Lots of remolded parts.
