Continuing with the surge of Third-Party releases prior to the Chinese New Year, we have in-hand, in-package pictures of the newly renamed ToyWorld Evila Star (Astrotrain) courtesy of ToysZone on Weibo.
Scaled to be either a very large Classics figure but more likely to fit into your Masterpiece collection, Evila Star has a toy-accurate aesthetic rather than cartoon accurate. It features some very impressive engineering to create three very convincing modes. They look so great that you’ll be hard pressed to pick your favorite.

View attachment 29606954When you find out that even the stock marketing photos have the leg transformed incorrectly. The leg on the left is the correct configuration for robot mode. It doesn't change much but does slim the leg slightly and let's the front panel sit flatter. I don't know who else doesn't know this, but I wanted everyone else to see it pointed out.

I figured out a little homemade hack. Cut a tiny piece off a post it note the width of the peg and wrap it. The paper will keep it wedged in enough for display. I'm using it in train mode with the guns coming out of front of the engine near the cattle grate.
Do you know what or where those little pieces are from? I thought mine were missing or something (I even tried wedging the screw covers in there in case those were it).

so on 0:57 the train's grey rails (pieces that connect the wheels – I don't know how they called) tab to the wings with some plastic add-ons, but they are missing on train-mod

Are there any pics from someone who csn successfully peg the guns in for shuttle mode?

Took out my evila star for cleaning, and promptly busted his knee ratchets which had become brittle. Had to remove the knee pins, and stick in excess material to prop up the ratchets, but now he's good as new! Still the only Astrotrain I need in my collection for all the great modes.

And yeah I'm also waiting for an appropriately sized Blitzwing. 19-20cm would be great, and there's sadly nothing like that currently on the market.

What David said! Lol

I use clear nail polish all the time. When you have a "severe" case of looseness, it's the better option IMHO—it can build up thickness quicker.

I just got an Evila Star. Pretty good figure! I bought mine used. Everything is fine, except the wings keep sliding down in robot mode. There's no friction at all. Do you think clear nail polish will do the trick? (I don't have any Future handy)

same here. Future you say? I'm going to try that.

The included instructions were not good.
A member on here had an absolutely fantastic video walk through though. I mean VERY good. Like a step by step kind of thing – so everything was easy for me. But I do feel your pain and am sorry that had to sour your experience.
For me, he is an amazing large scale chug Astrotrain and fits right in with my other LSC/IDW stuff.
I had no problems with loose pins so I can not comment on that. The only thing wrong with mine (and many others it seems) was the loose wings sliding down in bot mode. I slathered the pins with future and they don't do that anymore though.

Finally got my hands on a tw-06c…
Holy crap, he is frustrating. Spent the better part of an hour last night lining up panels, realigning loose pins, and trying to decipher the extremely broken instructions.
In the end, he's a nice looking figure. Not a huge fan of his shuttle mode due to all the panels, but he is just a tic above mediocre overall.

Oh wow… now I finally got to decide between the tw-06c and chigurrh…

So, apparently TW-06C just hit my POL at BBTS. That came out of nowhere, but gotta say, I'm pretty happy it actually came through.

I'm assuming the "final" TW Astrotrain is never coming out? I'm assuming that at least. So caved and bought the TFcon version. Head is meh but I can live with it. I've seen all the reviews and know what i'm getting myself into. I mainly bought him for the train mode and shuttle mode. So i'll be happy.

Been thinking about this fix since I first got this figure. I HATE his original feet so much that I had to so something about it.
This is an original v1 I painted to color match the toon. Wish it had the newer head, but I'm not going to double dip on this figure just for a better head sculpt. Maybe check shapeways later for one.
The feet are made of lego and have full 90 degree inward ankle tilts. They can also stay on in train mode, but unfourunatly have no place to go in shuttle mode. The lighter grey L parts in the front are just cause I didn't have the darker matching grey version.
I'm very happy with how it looks now and would be more than happy to share the parts used so anyone can make their own set.

The grey version, if ever oversized, would be my favorite take on Astrotrain by any third party to date, personally.

I actually use the diecast knees that came with the original/stock mold of Perfect Effect Warden (after adding on the Warden knees/legs upgrade kit, the die cast knees are just left aside as loose parts) to give Blitzwing a bit of added height. Just used magnets as the connectors. They seem to fit Blitzwing's odd footprint very well.

I would love to see a 3rd party company make some feet extensions for Blitzwing. I never like the feet on that figure.

Provider doesn't look bad with the other Triplechangers. Blitzwing definitely needs some lift shoes or feet add-ons to help even out the height a little more.
