Legendary voice actor and the iconic voice of Optimus Prime; Mr. Peter Cullen fondly mentioned director Michael Bay and wishes to see him back in the director’s chair for the 5th installment of the Transformers Live Action Movie Series.
Mr. Cullen mentioned to Cinema Blend:
“I have a great deal of respect for him. He generates a great deal of excitement and energy. He’s really a hands-on director. My son is a stunt man and worked in Chicago doing a lot of the driving sequences…he said he’s a very, very diligent, hands-on guy. He creates a great deal of energy and puts everybody on their toes. I would certainly miss him. I think he’s brilliant, his mind is unbelievable. ”
“Michael if you’re [reading] this, I certainly hope you are coming back.”
“It would be very difficult me to express any of the future on Transformers, but certainly the excitement that it’s generated of where it could possibly go is up to anybody to figure out. I don’t have access to any of that information.”

I really think that bay should come back for 5 and 6 if he can because its obvious in the behind the scenes that everyone enjoys working with him so much.
LegendAntihero
I hope he wasn't paid to say he wants Bay back
ChaosDonkey
Watch the behind scene. It is obvious that peter like working with bay

Well i'd be fine with Michael bay if he didn't use any stupid toilet humor toned down the action and explosives and put more effort into detail and storytelling, and removed that superfluous romance crap.
What am I kidding it's better off without him.

It's always tough to know exactly what people in Hollywood have said to each other when they are away from reporters, but from what I read it sounded like Spielberg and Bay had discussed the issue and then Bay cut her from the franchise.
RazorclawX
Spielberg made that call, apparently (as in, Bay's boss).

Ah, I see

As director Bay is the boss so he gets the say in who stays and who needs to go. Remember that whole horrible mess when Megan Fox said some truly horrible and uncalled for things about Bay? Mikaela might have been the love of Sam's life but when Fox made those commits then Mikaela had to go.
It's not like getting along with the boss and making money is such a bad thing. Nothing in the Hollywood handbook that you can't have real friends among the people you work with.
But you just doesn't see people trashing films when they are still working on them. You don't find actors out there going my new film is horrible and I'm sure the next one will be even worse. If Peter Cullen did have some sort of problem with the films he's just too professional to say anything bad about the films while the series is still going.

Are you sure? Because you've also posted how much you love these movies.
You're very wishy washy on your opinion of the movies. Stick to your guns and choose a side. And while I can get a middle ground, you literally say you love them one minute and they're awful the next. That's not a middle ground. A middle ground would be "I like them but…" and then list your issues. Or, "I don't like them, but they have some minor good points like this…" and list those.
It's hard to take you seriously when you post just to get your post count up.
Indeed. I said something akin to this back on page one or two I believe.

Cullen can say what he wants. He's a God. Of course, I don't actually agree with him, but my opinion doesn't matter
Ironhide1234
What do you mean?
I was getting at the idea that people are yet again, dismissing other people opinions because it's not theirs. I don't thinks it's nice nor fair to use Cullen's pay as an excuse to say he has a silly opinion. I feel as if some people are trying to rule out his opinion because he gets paid to be involved, especially with they way a handful of people have commented on it.
Paramount pay Cullen, don't they? Not Bay?
Peter has obviously or must have seen the movies? If he didn't like what Bay did I'm sure he would have said something different, even if he enjoyed working with Bay.

So we are all supposed to love the movies because hey Age of Extinction made money in China but we can't speculate that a voice actor enjoys getting a nice pay day when there have been so many excellent voice actors in the past who struggled to financial security later on in life.
It's kind of like that idea floating around here that if people enjoy working with Michael Bay then the Michael Bay movies must be good. I enjoy playing video games with people but that doesn't mean that I'm good at any of them.

All of you who are saying that the money is talking out of Cullen's mouth….

Cullen is probably richer than he's ever been thanks to the Bay movies. He probably made more on one movie than he ever did voicing all of the Transformers cartoons.
Of course he wants him back. He might even genuinely like the guy.
But I don't care. I wouldn't care if Cullen was single handedly responsible for the creation of the Transformers, voiced every character, and drew every cartoon by hand. The Bay movies are trash.

While true, it comes to a point that you need to venture away from just using them in car chases, because it'll risk all looking the same after awhile. Granted I haven't seen AoE so I can't comment on that, but I actually enjoyed the car chase sequences in the first and third films.
I don't know. Just… something about transforming from car to robot, then back to car while still in motion just looked so nice to me. I'd watch the scene with Bumblebee transforming into robot to throw Sam out of him and then back into car mode again so long as I can mute Shia's annoying, girly scream (TO BE FAIR… I'd scream like that too, so… guess I shouldn't be so mean to him.)
Maybe the car chase in AoE got repetitive? I dunno, but I can see how it can become formulaic after a few movies.

Wait they can't even manage continuity within a film so continuity isn't really a strong selling point with these films. This is the series where Sam spots Barricade chasing them on the highway in the first film and then it's the third film before anyone remembers they haven't killed off Barricade yet so he should show up for no other reason than to get killed.

The main hate comes from fans and critics. Most of those who work with Bay have tremendous respect for him. Big surprise.
LegendAntihero
As much I as like him, I've got to disagree. Bay has got to go. In fact, they should've fired him after the first film given how awful it is to sit through it most of the time
JayEm
I just hope Bay comes back for continuity sake.
