Toymaker Takara Tomy is re-imagining Optimus Prime as a heroic robot that transforms into the original PlayStation for a new toy that will release next year.
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Takara Tomy announced the “Optimus Prime featuring Original PlayStation” today as part of a dual anniversary celebration: 2014 marks the 30 year anniversary of Transformers and the 20 year anniversary of the PlayStation brand.
Not only can you have PlayStation Optimus prime to add to your collection, you can also have his rival and arch nemesis Mega drive Megatron and let the game consoles battle over control of the universe!
PlayStation Optimus Prime is scheduled for an early 2015 release. Don’t miss out on these great transforming additions.
Check it out after the break!

I hope you can detach it. Megadrive Megatron is similar with the wired controller so we'll see soon when we get it in hand.

So can the controller detach from the system mode itself? I'm gonna have the controller unsplit in robot mode and have him hold it. It will be his "playing with himself" pose

Personally I think it looks fantastic.

Yeah, I'm just not sold on the idea of Playstimus Prime.
Super Famiconvoy would've been a day 1 buy, but this…meh.

What other things would you like to do w/ the controller?
Everyone is asking for Nintendo consoles, it's pretty obvious Nintendo isn't playing ball or else Prime would've been the SNES.
TFW10
its ok

Hopefully they make a shockwave repaint and head. That cable reminds me to much of a shockwave.

Personally, I think it looks fantastic. There seems to be a lot of hate, especially surrounding the price. It's expensive, but…. was anyone really expecting this to be Deluxe or even Voyager price?
FYI, as far as I know, there are no Nintendo consoles involved with this crossover because of a similar situation to that of the Volkswagen license – that they don't want to be associated with violent products. Don't hold me to that, though, because I could be wrong. Also, Nintendo are pretty stingy with licenses.

That's what it is. Nothing special.

Bee should be the N64, if I remember rightly there was a yellow version.
Soundwave should be a gameboy
Shockwave a GameCube
Ratchet as the 360
Batman
So the controller just splits in two and plugs onto the back of his forearms? Pretty lame if that is the case.

I'm liking these a lot, but the body reminds me a little too much of Grimlock/Ultra Magnus smashed together, rather than Optimus Prime. The chest and pelvis are definitely Grimlocky, and the shoulders and legs are Magnus.

Funny, I stopped collecting TF when I got into videogames, and got back into collecting when I bought the WfC and FoC games and found FoC Prime at TrU. Preordered both O.P.-O.P. and Mega-Mega last night to truly merge addictions. Now I just need a Galvabong. SEGA!

As someone who grew up with a PS1 as their first ever console….he looks amazing. Though I don't know if I really want it at that price.
YES….Just Yes. Soundwave as any console would be all sorts of win.
Dolza_Khyron
silverbolt looks really weird with optimus prime's head.
DukeFett
Yep, pretty much everywhere: Anime Export, HLJ, Ami Ami, Nippon Yasan, BBTS, TFSource all have him up.

Any preorders for this one yet?

I must have one of these. I love the design.
