For a BAF, I would to adapt the Powercore Combiners/Energon Optimus Prime concept. Say like, you have a deluxe Ultra Magnus in the wave, and four of the other figures come with drones (w/o the auto-transform gimmick that plagued PCC) that serve as limbs or can be plugged together in a square-ish trailer thing. I sort of like the idea behind the drone limbs, but would like to see them executed in a different fashion.

That's a good idea. I think humans would be very nice. If the humans are about an Inch tall plastic wise it would be about half as much as a gun. The only problem might be paint budget.
I could also see a "build a figure" Rung. he's so small and skinny I think that would work well without exceeding toy development budget.
