In an expert move by Hasbro they have finally shown their cards from their SDCC hand and have revealed that they had another exclusive set just waiting to trump those who may have been left wanting something else after the previous set reveal.
The second set is a Dinobot playset obviously meant to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the brand taking the Age of Extinction Dinobot molds and adding a classic G1 inspired paint job to them. Voyager Grimlock is joined by Deluxe scale Snarl, Slug, and Strafe all sporting their paint schemes reminscent of their G1 counterparts.
If that wasn’t enough to scratch that retro G1 itch, it all comes packed into a playset style box which resembles the famous Autobot Ark crashed into the side of Mount St. Hilary which any G1 fan is sure to recognize.
This set be be available at San Diego Comic Con (Booth #3329) and will cost you $159.99. As always Hasbro says they will have a limited stock available on HasbroToyShop.com as well.

Pulled the trigger on Ebay…..siiiiiiigh….I'm a sucker for these G1 themed toys.
Glad I did….the $247.00 came out of my "toy fund account", so if it wasn't on this, it would've been something else.
Can't wait for them to arrive!

Does anyone have the box dimensions for this and the Knights of Unicron set?
Lbsammills51
I did, but I haven't opened it. I won't bother opening anything until I get home and have time to unwind.

Now that they have announced a proper Sludge I think I will buy these. The designs aren't terrible for movie toys (at least they have a theme and a style even if it is inappropriate) and I love love love the chrome. Dinozaur Dinobots. They really need to stop with the terrible replacement names though.
The question is whether or not they will be readily available. Ain't going to hassle for them, hoping in fact to grab them on discount since they're clearly overpriced.
Dark Jedi
Has anyone picked up this set yet at the Con?

I really hope the two big exclusives are relatively easy to get on HTS this year. Not gonna be able to F5 due to work, and can't make it to the convention. Really want both though, and I definitely don't see the hair metal set selling crazy well. Getting it on sale would be GREAT.
Stepper
I might just get this set

Just look at the Ark,wow.

I am glad there wont be a F5 clickfest this year because of the weak offerings from Hasbro. I feel the only ones that will be doing it are the speculative scalpers who hope to resell these for profit and the handful that actually like these sets!!
LegendAntihero
I'm a lot more interested in this SDCC set than the other one
EightiesKid
My guess is that the SDCC items will be easier to pick up during the post-SDCC HTS sale. Usually the SDCC items are very hot sellers and difficult to find at the HTS sale post-SDCC. However, I think that the items for this year will not sell as well as items from years past. The Kreon set seems to have the most universal appeal, the Dinobot set will probably sell pretty well, but I think the 80's band set will not move as much.
KnightStrike
Usually they go up on HTS anywhere from the following Monday through Wednesday and most pop up during the morning to noon hours Eastern Standard Time. Just be prepared, HTS site does not handle the traffic influx well and there are usually checkout issues.

Just to ask how the offering on HTS will go? Never tried to snag one of the SDCC exclusives before so just wondering what day will they pop up at midnight on the site as I think I've read elsewhere.

At first I couldn't afford it with the price, handling charge and shipping. But I'm starting a new job soon I think I can afford it now depending on how much shipping will be. I'm still wondering if I should post a wanted thread now, because lots of people could have post lots of wanted thread for this by now.
EightiesKid
I think the exclusive offerings for this year's SDCC are weaker than in years past. There has generally been at least one or two "must get" items over the last few years, the tf/joe crossovers, the metroplex and bruticus sets, etc. But this year the offerings are simply not as strong. The kreon set is pretty cool, and the dinobot set is decent, but the rock n roll set is a pass.
If hastak had been able to reissue the G1 dinobots with the dinobot set then we would have had some SERIOUS hype! But oh well. My prediction is that this year's offerings will not be as hard to find or as expensive on the secondary market as compared to years past. The hype and desire are simply not as strong as in years past.

Snarl looks fantastic
The ark playset needs to be replicated in plastic. I have no interest in a heavy paper display
Dark Jedi
I agree if there is gonna be a group buy someone should let us know here on the boards. I'm stuck on the East Coast and will not be attending the Con.
Lazerwave
Is it worth posting a Wanted thread for this? See if someone can help me out with it?
IgnikaMarcus
He doesn't throw boxes like this. Just normal retail boxes and the TFSS brown boxes.
