Sold Out, of course! In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Transformers brand, this Special Edition collector’s set transformers your favorite characters — Optimus Prime, Megatron, Smooth Jazz and Soundwave — as you’ve never seen them before: hard-rockin’ robots in the universe’s greatest band, the Knights of Unicron! Also joining the tour are Laserbeak, who converts into a note-shredding electric guitar, and Ratbat, who converts into the funkiest keytar this side of Cybertron.
The Transformers 30th Anniversary Tour Edition Action Figure Set is packaged in a concert-cool “roadie case,” packed with special edition posters, stickers, a concert ticket, All-Access VIP pass, and tell-all history booklet depicting the journey of the Knights of Unicron, from their humble beginnings and formation to their stellar hits and “look” (glam rock deco, metal band hair), band infighting (the titanic egos that once tore them apart), and triumphant return to the stage. With KISS and Iron Maiden-inspired album art (and perhaps a little Spinal Tap thrown in for good measure), the Knights record Look What the Bot Dragged In features such smirk-inducing tune names as Circuit Breaker, Laser Phaser and Rust Without You. (Ages: 8 & up/Approx. Retail Price: $184.99)
The set will be available at Booth #3329 at Comic-Con International in San Diego, as well as Hasbro Toy Shop.

Mattell's not doing their post SDCC sale till 8/4 for subscribers and 8/5 for gen. I haven't seen anything from Hasbro yet.
Warnen
Still nothing on HTS or did I miss them?
Basilisk
True. But I thought there would at least be some unique molding for a set like this.
Starscream Gaga
Which you could also do with any repaint…
Basilisk
You can literally make these on your own.

Hm, i kinda like the idea actually, but the hair just looks off. It's funny and all but when humor ruins the quality of the figure it becomes less funny.

Talking to multiple hasbro guys at the show, this was the least popular thing at their booth. They should have plenty available when it goes up.
Omegax80
Sounds like there will be plenty of these available on HTS.
Pass. I'll wait for clearance.

I caved in and bought it, but late Saturday when Hasbro was requiring no tickets and had no line. They were also doling out the free CD's at the time as well. Granted I had to ship it home and probably saved maybe 10 bucks compared to ordering it from BBTS.
fake
The way you put it, it does sound great but not $200 great.

I know this is a really love it or a really hate it thing for this set. I can see why (almost). You have to realise that yes, this is Transformers 30th Ann. AND in the same respect so is 80's Glam/hair Metal! Both of these, for me, helped me through some tough times as a youngster, and still does today. (of course both TF'S and Metal are both evolved for the better). I grew up with a transformer in my hands and Heavy Metal wailin' in my ears! BOTH ARE METAL AS HELL!! I still rock out with my toys out! To me a GEN X'ER, I cant think of a better 30 year tribute to my youth!
I had already been using my daughters toy parts to make my current TF'S rock away with drum sticks and guitars from the Bratts Doll line and they are all posed out in Metal attire and equipment. Hasbro just made my fantasy a reality!! I just pre-ordered 2 sets, 1 to collect and one to display with my Metal collection.
I am just greatful they didn't try a One Direction theme…oh dear god.. I hope they don't get any ideas!
Now if they would just do a Death/Black metal version with all Decepticons and decked out in the Black and White face paint……I would go Nuts and buy them all!
I guess its really a matter of tastes (or whether your gen x or gen y) when it comes to this Crazy set!
I love my Music! I love my Transformers! ..and I love milk and cookies too! I guess it shows I am Gen X to the core.
As far as collector value goes…only time will tell…but it is priceless to me!!
Now will someone do up a Trypticon that transforms into a cool Stage!!! That would be the 'Rainbow in the Dark'
FoC Grimlock
That's hilarious! I'd love that hanging around my computer here at the house. You'd almost have to do the stage setup display to make it work though but these are great! I hope they come with those little speaker standups

XD I need to get this, it's too hilariously awesome to pass up!!
RID Scourge
This should come with a stand that plays "Instruments of Destruction!" Definitely want to get one of these!
General Magnus
I need this in my life.
shumworld
This is so stupid that it reverse itself to a win.
moreprimeland
So much for the "Primes don't party" statement.
Sharpfinger
That's an amazing idea! A band needs a drummer (with drums).

I agree, 10,000 is way too many. I just meant that those were the kinds of numbers we'd need to see before the cost-per-figure margin (vs. retail) would start to come down from BotCon-like multipliers (so I've been given to understand).
Me, too. I don't think I've ever known SDCC-exclusive numbers, but if someone can start turning those up, I'd happily add a page to the data pages.

Not opposed to the idea… but the execution could have been better. The colors and patterns chosen don't quiiiiite sell the "80's hair band" idea (No leopard print? Grey legs on Prime? 90's-style grafitti on Megs' alt mode? C'mon!). Instead of the "troll hair" as someone mentioned, the hair would have worked better if it was glued into a little molded rubber headband, to replicate this look. That would also have made them removable… they could have just been little sheaths that you slip over the figures' heads, that the hair flowed out of (wouldn't have to look so much like "troll hair" then, either).
Also, not a great choice of molds. That Megatron and Soundwave are okay, and Prime is so-so I guess, but doesn't everyone pretty much despise FOC Jazz? Even though the mold has seen a lot of use, I think it would have been better to use the Classics Jazz mold instead. While I support the use of the Animated instrument-bots, it seems like a missed opportunity not making the bird Buzzsaw instead of Laserbeak. Sure, Laserbeak is the better-known character, but there's never been an Animated Buzzsaw released, he fits nicely with the metal context, and honestly at that point the identity of the birdbot isn't going to sway people one way or the other on this set… might as well make it a character that fills a gap. I'd say go one further and make Ratbat into Wingthing but, well, that might be a little too obscure.
Anyhow, I'm on the fence on this. If it were $100 I'd bite, no question. At almost double that, with molds I'm mostly lukewarm on, it's a tougher call (though I do love more Animated figures being released, even if they're just glorified accessories).
