Well that was fast. Soon after the first sightings of shelf tags for the Toy R Us re-release of Masterpiece Grimlock, it looks like he is now out! 2005 Boards member Autobot City Comics 2008 has provided picture evidence, and Starfire22 confirms they were also seen at a TRU in Norman, Oklahoma. Price is reported to be the previously reported $59.99. Get out there and grab this awesome figure at an awesome price!

So whats the difference in the KO and the Hasbro? Anybody got the KO?
SideSwipe82
although there is not an MP grimlock on the shelf now at my local tru in NYc. It went from $92.99 to $103.99 in 3 to 4 weeks after release. wtf right?
XICO2KX
Please take a picture and post it here so we, the people on the other side of the ocean, can drool a little!
peaces
it's both. hasbro has been constantly raising prices and tru is always the most expensive of the retailers.
canonball
Every single store that carries Hasbro products is given a suggested MSRP, but the final cost is up to the individual retailer, which is why TRU tends to be more expensive than virtually any other b&m store for anything they stock. To top that off, TRU has a history of raising prices once it's evident a product is selling well. MP Prime started at $99 and was slowly raised to what? $140? Hasbro has nothing to do with that. It's all TRU.
flynnibus
TRU sets prices based on costs and MSRPs – which are controlled by Hasbro. So yes, technically TRU choses a price, but they do so predominately on factors controlled by Hasbro.

Toys R Us set their own prices, not Hasbro.
FoC Grimlock
We actually have a wall of Grimlock here at one of my local TRU but the price for him here in China is way over $150 USD. I already have a couple of the mold but I always had a wish that I could see a store stocked full of them and we have at least 50 of them going wall to wall on one side of the Transformers section. It's a cool sight. There's a lone Acid Storm hanging out there as well.

The thing is, I wonder what Hasbro is thinking with $70 for Prowl? I got my Prowl from Japan and it cost less that that shipped to my door. Grimlock hit retail at $65 (Re-issue) before they raised the price to $80.
I Understand supply vs demand, but People in the know will just order from overseas, and get the figure for cheaper, and before the Hasbro release. Just seems like they are splitting their market
EMP Starscream
Bring on the ConeHeads!!! lol jk
I like the bot mode of the MP-11 mold a lot more…just need Hasbro Skywarp MP-06 next year and Hasbro Starscream MP-08 the year after that and I am one happy man-child. (Speculating of course)
I'm just glad I got my Hasbro MP-03 at $39.99 (box was damaged) I never saw MP-02 once.
LegendAntihero
I have yet to see this at my local TRU but then again I haven't been there often as of late
desuGoji
Yeah I hate the seeker mold. I kinda prefer the old ones because at least the alt mode looks good.

sunstorm will be 80 and he's horrible…

How do we know? This is Hasbro's first MP release of any of the car bots. There is no precedence for the price tolerance of these car releases. You keep hopping around between aftermarket, asian releases, etc.. when we were talking about the US Hasbro releases. Of which, Prowl is the first for the cars (excluding Rodimus).
No one is asking for cheap – but questioning a price is not the same as asking for it to be absurdly cheap.
The last seeker was priced at $75.. with TC being priced at $70 before it. I can see Grimlock being priced at or near the seeker mold given the size and accessories.. but now the much smaller autobots are being priced at $70. My comment was about Hasbro in the US mass market retail… no collectors willing to buy from overseas, etc.
desuGoji
Yup. And that's what people are willing to pay. Thought we covered this…
Hasbro isn't going to give it away for $30 bucks like people were hoping.
MP collecting is not a hobby for people who want things cheap, unfortunately.
peaces
correct. the tru 2014 version was a way to get it cheap. rite now on ebay the 2014 version is still the cheapest way to get it. about $120-130.
flynnibus
The $70 price is referring to Hasbro's announced price for Prowl in it's US Hasbro release.
flynnibus
Yeah, but is saying there are versions 3x the cost readily available really valid to say there was amble supply?
And your experience is the exception – not the norm. The piece sold out in HOURS when available online, and wouldn't last more than half a day at most B&M stores. The piece disappeared entirely in about a month. "in some areas"… is a gross understatement.
Again… saying you can pay 3-4x the cost and have it anytime you want really isn't a practical counter. If you are willing to pay 3-4x the cost, you can get nearly any piece on the second hand market on-demand. This is like saying "if money is no object, you can get anything". That doesn't help people trying to pay a reasonable price vs the retail pricing.
desuGoji
The re-issue prices for MP-08x is the same as the first time.
And I think Hasbro is done milking this mold for now, which goes back to my original point.
The MP cars go for various prices. From $45-$90 depending on the aftermarket, the figure, and the availability.
flynnibus
That's what I was referring to… the selling at $60 for the reissue at the start based on the old price. All the prices are way up from the first Hasbro release.. so no point in wishing for the past
Well it was $80, not $70 At $60 I think he's a GREAT price… at $80 it's 'ok'. No way was I going to pay the MP-08X reissue price for a single figure. I did pickup this TRU re-issue and managed to get a MP-08 TT first issue for $100 which I am more than happy with the price for.
Kind of like YOTH OP… at $130 I passed repeatedly.. but when it went clearance at $90.. for convoy I thought it was 'ok' even tho the deco wasn't my favorite.
The KOs at $40ish for the cars I'm more than willing to jump at. $70?? I think they are past the sweet spot for mass retail for those cars.
But since Grimlock RACED off the shelves… the market has spoken Just how many were picked up by speculators tho… anyone think we might get another batch? I can't imagine TRU wouldn't want to order more given they couldn't keep him in stock.
