Once again, hat tip goes out to the Transformers Columbia Facebook page for a new product reveal. This time we have our first look at the Platinium Edition Silver Knight Optimus Prime, which will be using the First Edition Optimus Prime leader class mold that was available through Amazon.com.
Check out the in-package and stock images after the jump.
SPLIT LIP
It absolutely is. That's why Takara figures cost more. Figure that Japan's economy is doing much better than the US, so they can afford more paint at a higher cost.
Though this figure is just bizzare. It has less paint operations than the previous mould use, and is the only figure that really needed the chrome, and gets bupkis.
Starscream0625
You'd think they'd use actual silver paint because this figure is of the Platinum Edition line.
DarkEyes
Silver paint? that is chrome!!! but fans do not want chrome so it has to be grey!
Haters are gonna hate!
jametron
Yeah, ok so they "listened" and left the chrome off, but grey? GREY? The fricking thing is called SILVER KNIGHT! They couldn't throw some silver paint on it?
DarkEyes
This is so funny when First Edition appeared, a lot of fans without any reason, and besides the experience of Transformers Prime, were waiting the same mold without chrome!
Well…Hasbro listened.
iacon45
Like others have said before. Kind of ironic, the only figure that might actually warrant some chrome has absolutely none what so ever. I guess they used up the extra chrome on Leader Grimlock. The truck mode looks kind of bland like it was accidentally partially unpainted instead of being the way its supposed to look.
bignick1693
With the crap grey plastic and bad red paint app placement on the terrible fe mold this thing pos rating is over 9000!
Danimal
I just don't get it. The tooling is the same.. So does it really cost hasbro that much more to apply the same paint applications that takara does? Just blows my mind. A figure that costs $15 is so dull and for $10 more at least for slug on bbts, you get metallic paint..
Is metallic paint that expensive?!
movie accurate grimlock is $62-$80 from takara.. Movie accurate not what you see at your local tru just for a paint application it's $17-$35 more? :/ I just don't see why hasbro can't apply metallic paint and give the fans what they deserve. People do buy the takara versions so the market is there.
IgnikaMarcus
And Hasbro listened.
jametron
QFT. That was my first thought, it has silver in the NAME, and they DON'T utilize the chrome! Wtf?
LegendAntihero
I agree
Danimal
As a whole, most of the movie toys are awful. I'm only picking up the dinobots. It's a shame that you have to pay premium (tt) for movie accurate paint apps and paint apps that look good.
Nightrain
Indeed. They should be smacked upside the head.
Afterburner
I don't think fans really wanted any version of this mold in the first place if we're being honest. But taking a subpar mold and doing this with it – egads.
DarkEyes
Fans wanted a not chromy version
GaussGunner
Damn, Hasbro, this isn't Knight, its dead Optimus Prime. And this KO colors…. Shame on you Hasbro!
DarkEyes
There is only one leader Optimus Prime, First edition is not a leader figure.
KnightHawkke
Oh Lord, I just noticed they have the feet backwards on Grimlock, how, how do you manage that
Stepper
This Silver Knight looks more like a Gray Knight Optimus Prime to me.
Malach Ra
They arent even trying anymore.
