Here it is, the moment many collectors have been waiting for: the full reveal of MakeToys Quantron! Quantron is MakeToys homage to the Generation 1 Technobots team that combine to form Computron! This five member team will consist of figures homaging the characters Scattershot, Strafe, Lightspeed, Afterburner, and Nosecone.
No official ordering information is up yet, but it looks like this combiner team will be sold as a gift-set only and released sometime during the month of August.
Keep it locked here on TFW2005 to get the most recent updates.

Back when a lot of us were dealing with broken wrist clips, Maketoys told us they didn't have replacement parts for Quantron anymore.
magmatron
I don't think you'll get any non-seeker parts from Maketoys anymore, but it doesn't hurt to send an email (if it's still working, anyway)

Sorry for the bump but wondering if any replacement parts were ever made or I just have to get a new metal storm, today I got a replacement Celeritas/light speed after mine broke because the right knee of the combined figure just won't move and instead snapped both the head and combiner piece of Celeritas.Don't know why but that knee has just never moved and don't know how to take that piece apart.

Sorry for the necro but does anyone know where I can find quantron's upgrade part for his back? I know shadow fisher did one but I can't seem to find it anywhere on the aftermarket, so i'm wondering if there are any alternatives (3D printed or 3rd party) I could pick up instead?
Hadlen_Weltall
Nope. Sadly. The only ones produced were Not-Strafe and Not-Lightspeed.

My Quantron is chilling with my Iron Factory Autobots. I still think he’s the best looking Computron after all these years.

Hello – I'll add in some thoughts tomorrow, but for now here are a couple o' quick and crappy pics of mine (Quantron with King Posidon and with Prime, Ironhide and Bumblebee), and a couple I found with a Google search (with Warbotron) and from several pages back in this thread (Hasbro Computron). Hope it is helpful!

No osko of quantron and if someone can't give you a side by side dimensions of both should be available via product listings or reviews.

Thank all of you very much! Last question, was there ever an OSKO? I do feel that I prefer the design of this guy quite a bit more than warbotron’s version, but I do prefer that size. How does he stack up to the Warbotron Computron, actually?

You've heard about the QC issues already.
Other than that I like them and have them as my Technobots/Computron. I'm not hugely worried about scale but my collection leans towards CHUG – they won't work size-wise with more recent 3P combiners or with consistently-scaled non-CHUG collections (unless you want a large combiner for a Legends-scale collection, in which case they look pretty good). They're dated but still overall pretty good and I really like the high-tech look they have, especially the alt-modes. It also works with regular official releases IMO provided you like them looking more advanced – they're the Technobots so to my mind they're supposed to look all high-tech. If you want a more consistent look with official stuff then they won't work as well. Combined mode is very thin from the side and if you take the cannon off the back then it looks pretty awful from behind. They're definitely a good-looking set, and the transparent plastic use is really well done. Transformation is a little bit fiddly on most of them, and Sonic Drill is an outright pain. More of an engineering-puzzle and display set than a 'toy' set if you know what I mean, though the individual bots are pretty decent as toys in both modes once you actually get them there.
I don't have much recent stuff so can't do pictures, sorry.
If you want a Classics-size Technobots/Computron set which looks a little out of place with official stuff, but in a way that sort of works (YMMV), and you don't mind over-engineered transformations, then yeah, I'd recommend them. Basically, if you like what you see, you'll probably like them. But I'd try to get them cheap.

There was an issue with first release boxset Quantrons where there was something in the wait that made it so he was always angled. Parts were supposed to be given out to correct it, which many got. I unfortunately didn't get one of these unfortunately. From what I understand they worked and fixed everything that was wrong with Scattorshot. I'm not sure if this was fixed or not with Reissues or single releases, but it may have been. I loved Quantron, and still do, definitely a fun set so I say go grab one!

Mine has been in storage for the past year & a half but I'll try to answer from what I remember:
1. Sonic drill's connection to the foot was pretty hard to get in when it was new back in 2014 when I got it. The elbows were floppy as all hell on mine. He could not hold up his gun or the ship bow with two arms. They fell constantly. This didn't happen on mine but a friend's copy had the left hand connector clip broke when he was trying to pose the combined mode but that is probably an outlier. The individual bots I cannot for the life of me remember how thy were but the transformation to the limb bots involved quite a few panels needing to be lined up correctly but some just did not for whatever reason.
2. He wasn't that bad to handle. Easy to pose (other than the loose joints). Back then I would have said he was a bit overly complex when combining but compared to newer stuff I'd say he was a breeze. The plastic seemed a little brittle to me when last I handled but I can't tell if that was how it was or due to age.
3. No pics but he looks great next to FPJ M3 Intimidator & Ordin. With CW/UW stuff I always thought he looked far too stylized compared to the bare combiners & was always a little taller than most of them. However, next to the combiners with the TDW upgrade kits (or PE Superion hands/feet upgrade), he looked a lot more at home. Size wise I think he fits with legacy Menasor but he & the individual bots would look even more out of place due to the drastic style departure of Quantron compared to the more G1 looking WFC stuff.
4. Would I recommend them? Yes if the set were on sale for ~$200 like 5+ years ago or this was for an IDW display. Now I probably wouldn't for the price they go for ($350 at RTB without shipping) & the fact that you can get UW Computron for less. It doesn't fit with Legacy/WFC in my opinion.
Hope this helps in the slightest

1.) The original boxset's Q.C. is great but the individual re releases have issues ranging from loose joints to the connectors for the combined mode hands snapping.
2.) The handling thing is subjective but to me they felt fine. The limbs bots are relatively small deluxes but they aren't fiddly in the slightest. Blindfire in particular is one of the best figures MT has ever made in a lot of opinions.
3.) Part of the problem with buying these is that they set a standard and unfortunately retail combiners are pretty crap so I don't gave them to take pics of.
4 ) Quantron is one of my favorite combiners to the point where I proudly have two on display in combined and bot modes. I've seen the set sell for between 2 and $400 but it's on you abd what you're comfortable with. It doesn't have the TFSource availability and random markdowns to use as a negotiating buffer anymore so I'd say anything between 2 and $300 is a great deal. If it's the boxset, definitely be more open to higher prices for the better quality.
– I noticed you asked a lot of similar questions about FP's intimidator; did you end up getting it?

1. Mostly well, but they do not to be handled a little carefully. And like many MakeToys products, many joints are too stiff leading to possible breakage. If you don't mind lubing parts with some silicone then it's a non issue.
I did break Scattorshot's hip due to the joint being too tight and the plastic gave out before the ratchet clicked over.
Nosecone has a very unintuitive transformation with the legs and several people, including me, broke his knee joint from bending it at the wrong angle that it at first seems like it will go. User error, not a weak part.
2. Too-tight joints is really my only complaint. They are really fun bots with neat alt modes. I like them a lot once they are loosened a bit. Nosecone's transformation is kinda batshit.
4. Try not to pay more that $150 (well, 150 Canadian, that's what I paid 3 years ago or more). They went on clearance a few times and there are many sets out there.
I like them, and I'd love them if I had known the issues beforehand and could have taken some measures at the time.

Heylo, sorry for thread bump. I’m looking into maybe purchasing one of these, and I have a few questions, if y’all don’t mind.
1. How have these guys stood up to the test of time? Any notable QC issues that have worsened overtime? Any fixes I might need to perform?
2. How would you guys say it feels to handle these things? Anything particularly annoying?
3. Could I get some comparison pictures in individual and combined mode with some modern figures (I.e. WFC & Legacy stuff)?
4. Finally, would you guys recommend these things, and around what asking prices should I stick to?
Thanks so much!

Was this set ever oversized by anyone, similar to how their Defensor set was?
