I do agree, hardly anything from the vehicle is incorporated, but that's not a bad thing, it would of been nice to have the windows on his chest, but im all for change.

I think that is a bad thing. It's one of the key criteria for me when assessing a design. Creatively reconfiguring the vehiclemode is a major part of what makes the best TF designs so good. I don't find it anywhere near as impressive and satisfying if they ignore all that and produce a robot design made up of imaginary shapes and contrived details that magically turns into a truck. (I'm talking about the actual movie design rather than the toy here). It's frustrating when they go with a design that requires extensive cheating to work in toy form.

I can understand losing the chest windows. It's probably the clearest way to make a break from the previous design while still having a recognisable Optimus. On DOTM they changed the abs, and I'm sure most people didn't notice at all. I think the windows are iconic, but they can change something like that when the rest of the iconography is in place. People should notice the difference, but they'll know who it is.

Hmmm…needs some more panels for the arms and legs. They are too "open" and skinny for my taste. Torso and the head are perfect though! And I love the updated G1 blaster.

It's ok I guess, something looks off, but I can't put my finger on what…

Also I read the title as "Age of Exhibition".

I read most of the thread and the majority of the complaints were about the excessive kibble. It's clumsy shell-forming, almost nothing from the altmode is integrated into the botmode design. Personally, I miss the window chest, and don't dig the skirt, but that's just me. By and large the hate isn't for the change, it's for the shoddy execution.

Also, it's far too soon to judge the level of paint apps. These aren't production samples, they're hand-painted prototypes.

He has a back pack and wheels on the lower legs, hardly loads of kibble really, the shoulder armour and skirt look like they are formed from the back pack, possibly meaning they are optional

Hand painted or not, if this is anything to go by, im looking forward to it. I'm not going to go up in arms over some pictures.

About the design, I noticed that his torso is pretty close to some of the concept art from the first movie:

Well spotted, I knew there was something vaguely familiar about the design.

That's a good point it's sort of like some of his armour has been pulled of and reformed – perhaps as he's lost some mass ?

I don't think Transformers need to look like an Endoskeleton tough – they had done a reasonable job of getting past that with the designs of Longhaui or Sentinel Prime – I'm not sure I WANT to go back there again.

The figure is really growing on me, looking forward to seeing the rest of the figures
