You’ve heard the hype, seen the official pics and Hisashi Yuki’s array of teaser pictures – now check out a review of Generations Titan Class Metroplex! This review comes to you by way of 2005 Boards member ChErikS and is the very first in-hand fan review of the most gigantic Transformer ever!
A few quick points which may be of interest to you:
- Some assembly required! You have to attach one of Metroplex’s arms out of the box.
- Stickers! Lots and lots of them! Generations Metroplex comes with an extensive sticker sheet to decorate the toy with.
- Lights and sounds! Metroplex has a good mix of SFX and voice clips from Fall of Cybertron including “Metroplex heeds the call of the last of the Primes!”
Read on to check out ChErikS thoughts and lots of pictures of Metroplex in hand! Enjoy!

I'll just drop this here:
Generation Metroplex knee swivels
Someday I'll get around to putting my transforming hands and folding ramp system up as well, but at this point they are a decade old and could use a redesign, I'm sure I could improve them.

That's so awesome. I wish the legs worked that way from the get-go.

It definitely makes trying out actual city modes better.
3D printing the washers is probably the best way to go also, because you can scale the height of the washer to get you the right amount of tension.
Turnip
I may have to try that washer trick. I've recently fallen back in love with this figure after 3D printing new knees so they can turn inward in city mode.

yes I used his washer trick on both my metroplex’s and fortress Maximus. Used the stock springs. The washers do the trick.
mechman22
Good find. Yes, That’s basically it.
Not sure where you can get new springs through. You could try a hardware store but I still think the washers will let you dial in the tension just right by simply adding more or less thicker washers.
This is a pretty non destructive mod no matter what option you choose. Cheers

This is a video I found on improving Metroplex's joints, should I just follow this video?
Also if I want to replace the springs, any good idea what springs to replace the stock ones with?
Cool Hand Lube
I would open the legs and measure the space the spring sits in and then go to a hardware store to source the washers (big chains will of course have more selection). Like @mechman22 said, you're basically adding the washers to force the spring to compress and dial in the proper tension necessary to give the ratchets more strength.
RzPz
How do I do that? What washers should I add?
mechman22
Not an answer to your specific question, but when I was making the pivoting knees, it looks like adding some plastic washers behind the spring would allow for you to dial in the spring tension to give you tighter ratchets.
I feel this is better than the suggestion to pull the spring apart because it will eventually collapse back to original tension.

Hey so just out of curiosity, does the Takara version of this toy have floppy hips and knees like the Hasbro one does? I managed to get an SDCC edition version of this guy recently and unfortunately the hip and knee ratchets are incredibly loose.

Makes me glad that I got mine when I did, because I sure couldn't afford him now.

Still my favorite Titan, although now he has company.

I can't find any metroplex under $300 and it's depressing me.
ACMagnus
WOW. That display is fantastic! And clever that you put Metroplex in a deep stance so the height difference isn't so apparent.
Sprocket
Really hope they'll consider re-issuing this guy, possibly as an exclusive for Amazon or another online retailer like BBTS and Entertainment Earth.
Lord knows he'd fit in perfectly with the Siege aesthetic.

Sensational! Love the display. That metroplex head came out perfect.
songrobin
I realized that I never actually posted the display on this thread.

I repeat what I said elsewhere:
Siege Prowl, Sixgun and Pteraxadon Official Images
Sixgun's got 5mm pegs on the big red guns. Can't see any of the Metroplex gun handles anywhere. So you'll need a couple of these:
Fort max metroplex gun sword holder by jay13057 on Shapeways
Mine needed a bit of building up inside to properly grip a 5mm peg.
There's some 5mm pegs on Metroplex's forearms, and there's more elsewhere on the body for the rest of the stuff.

Now that where getting the side kicks of Metroplex,Fort Max,Trypticon. These titan class figures will finally be completed with the extra added figures.
