Hot on the tails of our initial news post of this exclusive figure for the upcoming Charticon convention, the guys organizing the inaugural convention have been posting a TON of updates on this highly anticipated figure! We’ve decided to devote a single “round-up” for them, so that you can view them all in one update!
The major news is that it is, in fact, including TWO Targetmaster type figures! These are redecos of the Mastershooter Collectible figures, courtesy of site sponsor Captured Prey. Attached to this article is a mock-up of those figures.
This figure is super-limited, and the “non-attendee” packages have sold out. However, don’t fret! You can still join the party by attending the convention, as there are still attendee sets still available! Jump on over to the ordering page if you plan to join the party! Also, there is some important information here if you plan to attend and order this figure.
Also, if you have some skills but can’t attend, the head sculpt is offered separately! This is also a more affordable version for those who passed on the non-attendee set and are unable to attend the convention. The head is available for $15. Jump directly on over to the Charticon site for ordering information! If you end up going this route, be sure to post your own work in Radicons via our Creative Forums!
Read on for tons more information after the jump! The first update revealed is a photo showing the alt mode. If you’re curious as to how it stacks up with the original, feel free to bounce over to the TFW2005.com Resources page of the Generation One figure.
Next up is a comparison of the base mold, Generations Warpath. From the Charticon organizers:
”We wanted to show off a comparison shot of Aftershock with Warpath so everyone can see all of the differences in case you are on the fence about purchasing. Contrary to how it may appear, this figure has been FULLY repainted. We originally were not going to paint the maroon, but after examining G1 Quake we decided that Warpath’s off-red color was not sufficient. It really becomes apparent when the figures are side by side.”
As stated, Mastershooter Collectibles and Captured Prey are teaming up to offer the Targetmaster figures:
“So in case you didn’t figure it out from our little teaser earlier today, we will be offering the two Targetmasters for Aftershock, courtesy of Captured Prey and designed and produced by MasterShooter Collectibles! This is obviously just a mock-up, the actual figures may vary. All three figures will come together in a beautiful custom box (as seen earlier today). We really can’t wait for you all to see it!”
The comparison photo offers a look that is cleverly deceptive, as the report is the entire figure is repainted. This is especially remarkable since some of the parts are very similar to Generations Warpath:

Many fans posted from the very first update that they would like to try their hand at making their own. The Charticon organizers aptly responded! They had this to say:
“This one is for all you customizers out there. We have a limited number of unpainted heads that we will be offering for sale. Because the head sits on a swivel joint, you’ll actually receive two pieces (front and back) that fit into one another. Figure, box and Targetmasters are not included. Limited to one per person. Please indicate in the Paypal instructions if you plan on attending the show so we know whether or not to send you a separate shipping invoice. If you plan on attending, please send through your Pre-Registration before or at the same time as your head order.”
Exclusive toys really help "make" a show. The Landshark figure in particular was a masterstroke, a Sharkticon toy for a show that uses the Sharkticon as its mascot. As a dealer, I wasn't going to try to get my hands on one, but that doesn't mean I wasn't drooling over it, and Aftershock too. My secret fantasy is that there will be a "dealer exclusive" or somesuch for the 2015 show, or something similar to the 1996 Botcon Onyx Primal toy that had attendee, dealer and guest variations.

I liked your article. I really wish I had got one. Never going to a con before I had no idea how important the exclusives would be to me when I left. I got the landshark and its more important to me than anything I got there even tho I found a couple holy grails for me at the show. I guess because it symbolizes the show for me. When I saw people being handed aftershock in line ahead of me I thought "man I really should have gotten that"

Heh, glad to see you saw my post in both spots! I just came to post the colours here but you beat me to it.
Thanks again man! Very interesting stuff on your blog.

No problem, and if anyone is looking for a little inside info on the making of the figure, I just recently completed a blog post chronicling my experience.

Not a problem, here are the paints we used, all were Testors Model Masters:
True Blue Gloss (4657)
Ocean Grey Supergloss (4866)
Purple Pearl GP00356 (4643)
Kandy Scarlett GP00364 (4646)
Blue Angel Yellow FS13655
Gloss Black FS17038
To create the maroon we used 2 Parts Kandy Scarlett to 1 Part Purple Pearl.

No, I bought it from the dealer floor.
By the time the auction rolled around I was out of money.
