Following on from his post yesterday about the leaked Transformers 4 script, Michael Bay posted a follow-up to the effect that he thinks the leaked script is a Hasbro treatment for an unrelated Transformers story – and in the process he apparently confirmed there would not be a movie adaptation comic for Transformers 4 “because we want to keep our story under wraps”.
The full quote taken from Michael Bay’s site is below:
P.S. I bet it is something from Hasbro. This time they are not doing a comic book of the movie because we want to keep our story under wraps. It must be their version of a comic themed Transformers story they are creating. This might be a good thing, considering how many of us were spoiled on Dark of the Moon by Amazon posting major, major plot events from the movie adaptation comic online weeks before the movie’s release. Hopefully there will be a few more surprises in store for Mr Bay and crew to surprise us with this time out.

Paramount and Fox (and Sony) only have the rights to the characters exclusively named to them- and Paramount's deal was just a distribution deal, which Disney bought out. Sony has Spider-Man and Ghost Rider and directly related characters. Sony can use, say, Electro or Rocket Racer, as they are associated with Spider-Man. They probably couldn't get away with Kingpin, as he's seen primarily as a Daredevil guy.
Fox, similarly, has the X-Men (probably including X-Factor and most other mutants), Fantastic Four, and recently lost Daredevil. So, unless someone can justify why Circuit Breaker is a Spider-Man villain or an X-Men, those rights are at Disney/ Marvel.
Personally, I think Hasbro should try to get the rights to CB, and Marvel should let those rights be sold at a bargain price. They're not doing anything with the character, and who doesn't like free money? Ah, but I suppose I don't properly understand the complexities of licensing wheeling and dealing.

Lets be honest, would you have watched DOTM if you had'nt read the comic version before and figured out that 'oh it has more of a plot than just Sam trying to get laid' ?
Sentinel's inclusion and the plot twists involving him were what sparked a lot of fan interest when the comic was released, along with the inclusion of Cybertron – which a lot of fans wanted to see.
After ROTF we needed to see something interesting and i personally feel that most (if not the whole idea) of releasing the comic adaption before the movie was to convince fans the movie would be good.
Wheeljack_Prime
Honestly, I really doubt that there won't be a comic adaptation.
bumblebeeprime2
i just want a prequel comic! and just put it on the tablet/ smart phones! save them money and printing! which i dont see why they dont do that in the 1st place!

I was just thinking. Why not just release the noverlization/comic book adaptation like after the movie is released?
I don't know why it couldn't be done?

Sideways's death wasn't too bad of a spoiler. He really wasn't hyped or anything. DotM's ads spoiling how both Starscream and Shockwave died, on the other hand…
Scaleface
I have heard whiners who complain about the TV guide telling them the episode title, bucase the title mentions a character name!
Now if the Bay comment about a comic being nixed is true so it doesn't leak the plot, what does this mean for a novelization?
Scaleface
I don't worry about a "spoiler" that happens in the opening sequence of a film. Youhave about 3 minutes of minor side plot "ruined". I don't think you would even know his name if it wasn't for the toy line or novelization. This could be like complaining that the trailer for Terminator gave away that one of the bikers was killed in the opening sequence when the Terminator arrives.

It's just become one of the traditions of these films for Micheal Bay to get all bent out of shape about any information about the films that doesn't come directly from him. It seems to be totally irrelevant if the information is true, false, or an early concept that was dropped from the film somehow it all seems like some weird threat to his total power over Transformers.

That is why I will stop coming here around April/May of 2014.

How do you fill plot holes of a movie that is not even released and you don't have the final script of it?
By the way I see that many people here blame Amazon for the biggest spoiler leak of DOTM. I wouldn't call it that way. They were jut the first. When the comic adaptation was released it was the readers who spoiled the movie. Personally the movie was spoiled to me by a TFW2005 member who wrote the outcome of the Ironhide – Sentinel clash in his thread title. His post was removed later but it was too late.
Enigma2K2
Wasn't it to help fill in plot holes and help the movie make sense?

I think the tv spots were more reveiling. Like the ones in REVENGE OF THE FALLEN..
Sideways getting sliced in half for example..
Cyber-Scream
And nothing of value was lost. Seriously, I never understood the point of those other than spoilering the movie before it comes out. *coughDOTMcough*
Chopperface
Good. That was the worst leak I've ever seen, spoiling Sentinel's betrayal, killing Ironhide, and God knows what else with the DOTM adaptation..
Though I hope we do get another Convergence-esque series by John Barber, to help explain and correct the inevitable plot holes that the films always come up with that are different from the comics (of course mostly due to drafts of the script, like The Fallen in his sarcophagus).

Michael Bay must be pretty pissed off at what happened with DOTM; where the entire movie plot got leaked because of a technical error by Amazon.
Still, this doesn’t mean we won’t see Prequel Comics and Sequel Comics. IDW has the creative freedom for that I guess. Unless Bay decide even that would give away the plot, sadly.
I’ve been a fan of IDW Movieverse ever since the prequel comic book for the 1st movie. I'd love to see Don Figueroa, Simon Furman, Alex Milne, Josh Perez, Andrew Griffith, John Barber and Priscilla Tramontano returning to the Transformers Movieverse Comic Books.

Oh… I never know Transformers by Michael Bay has story. What is the point keeping story secret?
