Man I wish I could've of been there, completely forgot. I will definitely put it on my calendar for next year. Really appreciate you guys for doing something for us in the Midwest. I only live 2 1/2 hours from Wichita so its an easy drive. Look forward to next years event.

Was happy with this years set up. way more spacious than last year. picked up some great items as well. got asia exclusive springer and wheelie. armada optimus prime. 25th anni vector prime. classic jetfire, ratchet, galvatron and mirage. animated voyager optimus. back to the future delorean. rid sky byte. motu orco. 2 items that i was hoping to pick up were classics optimus (no one had one for sale) and omega supreme ( 2 were available but dealers were asking too much for the condition they were in). but the optimus primes i picked plus the 2 (optimus maximus and weaponizer optimus) i found at the local wichita target pushed me over 50 primes in my collection. want to thank Charlie Hoyt for being such a great dealer. i bought some stuff from him last year and an item was missing from the stuff i bought nd he brought it to this year convention hoping i would be there

I don't think he was concerned about convention-goers. I think his concern was about scheduling guests- you know, speakers. There's no way either gig is lucrative enough for an artist/voice actor/writer/designer/whatever to take an overnight transatlantic flight, so both cons suffer for it because they're competing (if not intentionally) for guests.
Autovolt 127
That's cool.

No hard feelings, man. And we may just give you a shout, I like the idea of the smaller cons working together.
Grendel1979
Yeah! Year 2! I'll be there.

wanna know the best part!! THE HOTEL IS RIGHT NEXT TO TOYS R US!! WOOT! We've been trying REALLY hard to come up with a date and we figured August was somewhat safe and I think alot of us didn't think of auto assembemly. ALOT of us in the group are broke and this is was the best thought to get a little peice of TFs closer to the midwest. I'm again going to be running around in costume and hopefully be helping all the visitors out!

I want to apologise if anything I said came across negatively. For those who know me (especially other convention organisers), I've been doing a lot to work closely with other convention organisers and to try to get as many of us as possible working together / sharing ideas / experiences so we can all help each other and learn from each other. I've actually set up a support forum for all of us and if you drop me a PM, I'll gladly let you guys have the details and welcome you on board!
I admit that the lack of information from Botcon is frustrating and it hurts all of us no matter what country we're in. We've had fairly stable dates now for the last few years so luckily everyone knows when to expect Auto Assembly but with Botcon changing dates and venue every year, no-one really seems to have a clue what is going on. I don't think they seem to realise just how much advance notice people really need when planning to go to a convention – arranging time off work, making travel plans, saving up, and in some cases, arranging for childcare.
If all the smaller conventions have their 2012 dates announced, surely a convention as large as Botcon should have been able to have done this months ago?
Anyway, good luck with the convention and if there's anything I can do, please don't hesitate to ask!

I'll definitely be there! Thanks for putting something together in the mid-west

Definitely interested

It's been pretty difficult to nail down a date, but we finally ran with one that we hoped would work well for most people. Of course, our greatest fear at this point is that Botcon lands somewhere nearby. We really wanted to wait for them to announce their plans, but we felt like we'd waited long enough for the rollout (We've had this stuff ready to go for a while).
As far as competing with Auto Assembly, we certainly don't want to step on any toes, but I don't think we've seen ourselves as any sort of direct competition. It's just a radically different location and market, so I don't see anyone really having to make a difficult choice between the two. With more and more TF events popping up now, it's hard to stay off of everyone else's dates.
I'm glad to see you guys are interested, though. We think we've got some great stuff lined up and that everyone's going to have a great time.
Feel free to ask any questions and make any comments either here or on the Facebook page– we plan to stay very reachable leading up to the event.
Also, we're taking submissions for Fan Panels, as we'd like to keep the Panel Room occupied throughout the day. Let us know if you'd like to host your own panel, but don't wait as there are only so many slots!

That would be a great point if these events were in the same country, and even for those few that can make the trip over the pond. However, Midwest America hardly has any conventions and even fewer for Transformers. This is great for those living in the middle of our country without the spare change to go to Botcon, let alone Auto Assembly. We're all out to spread the TF love, right?
I can almost guarantee that this won't effect your potential visitor count. Now, if this were in direct competition with TFCon, Botcon or Slagacon, then I'd be more apt to wag a finger.

I hope it does really well, although I am a little disappointed about their date as it's a direct clash with Auto Assembly 2012 and mean that a lot of the guests we have confirmed won't be able to attend TF Expo. Maybe a little checking with other pre-arranged events for future years?
I know we're taking place in a different country, but I know that most events do attract people from outside their own countries now so I think trying to avoid each other is something that we should all try to do as much as possible and it's something that we do here with Auto Assembly and Auto Assembly Europe.
Heat Guy
Finally, something local, for those of us in the middle that is.
