Thank you for linking that. I really really love this new mold. If its priced near $50-$70 I will have to buy a seeker set. Before anybody slaps down that price range think about it. Theres no trailer or big extras that we know of, and hes an inch-ish smaller than kmc01. Considering the more than reasonable price for cyclopes I think it can be done.

It was Leonardo Da Vinci's sketches (from Centuries before the Industrial Revolution) which a few years ago, a show on PBS proved would fly (it reaired recently). & before you say Starscream couldn't scan one, he was working w/ humans on technological stuff; he could've easily gotten access to a copy of the pages & designed an altmode from the ground up (people forget he's a scientist).

Yup…they don't need to be anything that worked at that time period, just something that looked possible. All they would need is designs, or even a non-working mockup/prototype in order to adopt it as an alt mode.

I think someone had pointed out that they look similar to sketches/designs from that era. Which is Good enough for me lol.

But unfortunately not consistent with the time period of HoS where planes had yet to be invented

as for how much of the cgi render will transfer into the actual mold, take a look at the Cyclops prototype review thread, that thing if VERY detailed. I have no doubt this will be equally so.
although I would really prefer if they went for the more traditional bi-plane design, as that seems a bit more consistent with the whole robots in disguise thing.
still loving screech though

That may not have been mmc. Bbts is known for fantastic customer service. They've done things like this before. In fact they sent me a second alternity convoy when my first one broke and let me keep the broken one.
For those that bitch when bbts isn't always the cheapest- it's things like this that give them a loyal customer base.

Just caught up on the thread. The designs used by both teams are based on the artwork used on one of the retailer incentive covers, rather than being a hybrid of other concept designs floating around.
I'll admit I do have a soft spot for the MMC design; it packs a lot of detail into the 5" bot mode. However, I believe that their teaser shot is a CGI render, similar to those issued in the early days of Cyclops. How much of the detail can be maintained in the final mold is yet to be seen.
As DI Studios have a prototype out, they do seem to have the advantage in being further along in the development cycle, but the shots I've seen of it so far make me think the proportions are a little out. Although the guns are more accurate, the proportions and engineering are not doing it for me. And it's difficult to make out the scale but it seems to be larger than the MMC version.

Did one quickly last year which turned out quick well…

Dammit fandom, what has my wallet done to deserve all the preemptive beatings?
exomega255
well if it doesn't have to transform can't you just mod one from one of them Zoids model? xD
skiss
That is and will always be in my mind the most bad ass ravage art I've ever seen. It doesnt even have to transform, just give that that ravage.

Nice, yes the details seem to me much better. Best i can see is the wings are longer and slightly more curvy and then there is some detail on the prop engine on the wings that the MMC version has compared to the DI version.
My vote is for MMC, however the only thing i know was that their initial KM01 release had subpar plastic making it more brittle. I could feel that type of plastic. However since people have indicated this has improved, i'd need to feel it out first.

^ That picture just makes me want a HoS Ravage. lol.

They also made sure the distributors had replacement parts for anything that broke. Heck, I complained to BBTS that one of the little clear blue tabs that you click the shoulders into broke and they sent me an entire replacement robot.
I don't think it's inconsistency but initial concept drawings versus the final comic version. I can't find any scans online and my comics are home but I did find this cover, which looks to have one turbine and not two.
exomega255
ohhhh I see what you mean, according to these alt mode drawing it seems like MMC's pretty accurate, just looking at the bot mode and where things should go. So I guess there were inconsistencies in the art work as well or something.
I mean, I want Screamer to resemble closer to blocky G1 aesthetics then RiD Megatron's. But I think a balance is ok, too. Being too curvy just reminds me of it being too "organic" and looses the charm of it being a bot. I think that's why movie stuff didn't really do it for me at times.

It's kind of a mashup of the different styles – there were some alt mode pics that bear more of a resemblance to what KM-05 will possibly be, but I don't know if GG ever drew robot mode pics for those. It seems to be a cross between the skywarp alt and the astrotrain alt:
exomega255
looking at that art work it seems like MMC's version is more curvey than that artwork. It's also missing a tubine on each side, its a bit less "gundam-ish" from that artwork.
Cax6ton
It works well for any of the color schemes:
foxeh30
Looks awesome! Something about the styling that just catches my eye! Not sure about it being in G1 Starscream colours though. If anything, to me that figure suits a Skywarp colour scheme more!
Will probably still get it though if my wallet can pick itself up off the floor after the beating its had recently!
