WTF @ TFW Episode 183 is now Online!

Hey gang, great show. I want to focus on what's important so let me start by saying that I appreciate Vangelus pulling back the curtain and letting us know how much Gogdog has been responsible for bringing the podcast to us. This is one of my favorite listens in a huge sub list and he deserves huge praise for his efforts.

As for the episode, I trust that you guys have a better feel for the online community than I do, but I was shocked to hear your opinions on Metalhawk. I kept looking at the chapter image (thanks for those BTW) and finding it hard to believe that was what you were raging about. IMHO it IS the homerun funpub expected. To hear Gogs level of conspiracy and rage literally had me shaking my head! And the fact that Vangelus and Protoman where on the same page…wow.*
I reserve final judgement until I have it in hand of course, but what I've seen has me pumped. Don't get me wrong, the set overall has a lot of problems but this is one figure that blew me away unconditionally.
Funky, daring, unique, and spot-on as an homage, this has the potential (again, gotta see it in person) to be a favorite in my collection. And even if you hate it, remember that a gold robot is still possible at a later date.

"Skinface" should be a slur that TFs use against humans. I want this to be canon.  

My gut feeling about the Botcon reveals is that it's not as much calculated misinformation, as simple cluelessness. It wouldn't surprise me if the guys at Funpub think they nailed the Metalhawk head, and can't understand why people are saying it looks so different from the head sketch. Pete didn't seem to be outright lying when he said this set was the best ever…at the time he said that, I think he actually believed it. Maybe they're too close to the toys to be able to keep perspective as well as they should.

I think with Botcon's reveal timeline this year and the fact that they stand by their products might be a result of them having it in hand. They have known for a while what these figures will look like, and have seen them grow into a physical form through development, that by the time they have it in hand and have a while to look them over, they are biased and have already fallen in love with the concept regardless of execution.

This is a good theory too. Like an author or artist who genuinely believes that they've polished their work to perfection, and is taken by surprise when an editor gives some unexpected criticism.

Felling bad that I'm just now starting to listen to this. Really loving the show guys.

I'm surprised nobody thought the Prime Hot Shot resembled Skram from G2.

For starters, her name is Vinyl Scratch, and second, Soundwave is an emotionless, asexual being who has no romantic interest in anyone, and even if he did, Vinyl Scratch would reject him because she's a lesbian in love with Octavia but Octavia is not a lesbian so it's like Chasing Amy except with cartoon ponies and Soundwave is just in the background looking creepy.

And that's just within the context of shipping, because generally, shipping is dumb.

That's my response to that question, and with that I will say that was a great episode.
